Agree with OP ,one slight problem however...........SR doesnt have a clue and sadly imo never will know what his strongest side is.....
Probably a lovely bloke and I wish him well but the basic ultimate truth is he is in the wrong job and totally clueless..........please resign in the morning and good luck for the future.........

Yea as Mark Elliot has come up in the conversation a couple of times and as I am now restricted to listening to the plonker instead of being able to attend matches in the flesh........it has to be said he is the most the self opinionated, narcissistic, numpty to ever utter on a word football.

You do have a fair point "greeny", I'd miss read wikipedia where he had 1 season as said above 2003-2004.....before Horton, then back 4 years ago,so fair point,my apologies... what did he do from 2004 onward??,was he a coach at Macc?? I dont know but I have read in numerous places that he has spent his entire career since his playing days at Macc.......anybody know the truth here? . Still strikes me that 53 is an odd age to become ambitious all of a sudden though.......I was planning my retirement at that age but have always been a lazy sod.

Dont quite understand "we are in this position now because our old manager had drive and ambition " Is PH the only one out there with those qualities? ,confused. Just saying Askeys's cv doesnt read to me like that of a Manager who has some self aspiration and wants to get somewhere in the game...the exact opposite in fact. I have no idea how the new guys will do and I sincerely wish them every success and we have a good Season. Just why the hell would you stay at Macc for all those years if you wanted to challenge yourself at a higher level which is a quality that most of the younger Managers have these days, whether it does them any good or not, just bothers me a bit.

15 years as Manager of one lower league side doesnt say a great deal to me about The Managers passion, drive and ambition to challenge and better himself at a higher level.......smacks to me of being happy in a cushy number, not upsetting the Chairman too often and drawing a steady wage packet.
As for THe Assistant Managers credentials I'd say from what I've seen they are about on a par with mine,Exkeepers, jamos and Hoovers, not overly excited by that.
I'm happy to give Tom and Jerry or Mr and Mrs Lenny a go and am a little worried that is exactly what we are doing.
Saving grace though as I usually talk the biggest load of s**te on here than anyone else we are obviously destined for 90 points plus..................

Hope you like one up front, at home, as well as away...........I lived in Cambridge for many years and watched Ipswich on many occasions in years gone by early to late 90s and imo your fans are hard to separate from those that follow Wolves (arghhh rinse my mouth out with soap and water).
Often use to hear murmurings at Ipswich of " we are too good to be playing Barnsley or Bolton or Preston for example....I always thought a lot of your fans to be just like those at Wolves (said it again, Jesus sick all over my keyboard, damn) and you used to think you were a big Club ie because of Bobby Robson success era.
Dont upset PH or he'll turn it back on you,one and only mistake he made here, otherwise very intellegent, well spoken, hard working, highly ambitious and successful to date....you could do a hell of a lot worse...... and he'll give his all and with backing and luck required he'll do a better job than McCarthy but if you want Paul Mariner,Alan Brazil with Muhren and Tyson(spelling doesn't look right, but you know who I mean, playing just behind or off the shoulder the front two forget it................... it aint going to happen.
Lots of debate and discussion about why we didnt make top two this season and most of it valid but HUGE reason imo we didn't score goals..............am not going to critise our strikers for that we rarely set up as a team that could score a lot of goals even with Ronaldo or Messi in the squad very unlikely they would have both started many games together as usually each of them selected to play the target man problem being too big a gap between them as lone forwards and midfield.
Probably get a bit of stick for this post, fair enough, just my opinion..good luck for next season

Manager plus Doig, almost certainly gone,Henderson,Ogogo(want to move down south I hear,Morriss plus Godfrey off,Nolan,Nsiala sold on i reckon, junior out of contract.......
My fears this is a situation only a very, very good Manager is going to be able to handle and he needs to start very quickly.
Lack of that Championship money is a massive blow Mark whats his name, summariser on Radio Shrops said its vital we can build on things next season and not do a Fleetwood,I'll add Leyton Orient as well
It will take some doing to do that,Christ Almighty I hope we can................Will take a huge effort, total re build ahead.......
Was a massive defeat for STFC today, just hope it isnt as massive as I fear it could be.

Fair point Rothman 2 and Good Luck,Best Team on the day will hopefully deserve to win........I'm just making the point if I were Rotherhams Manager I would certainly employ a physical approach to beating us as was obvious for all to see against Lincoln
No I would agree you are not a Team of kickers but you are certainly imo far more physically well built and stronger than the Shrews and are better at a long ball game than us,not saying that is how you play regularly, I obviously wouldnt know, but if you chose to I think you are far better than we are at it........and I see that as your strength over us and that is my concern.
Nothing wrong with a direct game at the right time and place and I just feel that is the way you will play and if you do it will be to your advantage.
Having watched STFC for 50 years +,this is one of the best,if not at its best THE best pure footballing team I have seen, when it gets it right so your general overall bigger and stronger players is a worry for me. We have quite a few young uns with little experience of how some games are played at levels 3 and 4 and that was clearly illustrated against Lincoln
True touch harsh to say you will try to kick us from the get go apologies if required..........but if I were your Manager I know thats what I'd do......its no secret Lincoln did it perfectly,we were completely sucked into a brawl and fell for it and paid the price, well done Lincoln.
Again Good Luck on the day and lets hope for a Good game.............

but am confident we can win next Sunday and be a Championship Club next Season.......
Lot of stuff about curses at Wembley,Rotherham our bogey side in big games in cups in years gone by etc etc.
None of it counts for anything.........I can see only one thing stopping us from winning and that is.........if we get involved in a scr@p as we did against Lincoln.
Play our football,as Scunny played for first 25 minutes against Rotherham and we'll have em chasing shadows all over the park and we'll win quite comfortably.
Get involved in a scr@p or a bad tempered brawl, and hoof and chase it style game, like we did against Lincoln and we will come out second best.
This e-mail is sooooooooooo obvious it probably doesnt even need writing,we,the fans all know it,the Manager and his staff knows it,the Players know it...........BUT THE PLAYERS HAVE TO DO IT.........NO PLACE FOR ANY RED MIST,from anyone.
Bryn Morris got badly fouled in the last game, didnt get the free kick he deserved put his red mist glasses on straight away and got rightly booked 20 seconds later for petulantly and stupidly kicking the next Charlton player close to him into row D.
Carlton Morris for God only knows what reason gave the ref the opportunity to send him off early.............madness can be no place for such stupidity on Sunday.
As I've said I believe we all know this but the responsibility lies with the Players......so come on Lads just press high, win the second balls, dont give it away cheaply in dodgy areas, pass and and move keeping it on the ground, as we all know you can and will get plenty of chances to put at least couple in and win no worries.
Rotherham will try to kick us off the pitch from the get go.....get drawn into that sort of game and we lose.
COYB............we are the better footballing side no question go out there and prove it........Onwards and Upwards

............have a safe trip home..........
Cant be done with registering on your forum to tell some of the idiots on there the truth, and agree with several other of your more level headed fans on there who have written that you were "s**t"
I wouldnt go that far but you were pretty awful though, but that wasnt your fault................... we didnt let you play.
You created sod all from open play in either of the legs, missed every half chance you got, cant remember a full chance, but if there was one you must have missed that too as you didnt score, over TWO legs.
Your Manager is a sad pathetic sore loser who needs to go to Specsavers right now if he believes you were the better side in both legs, total joke.
Yea may have a couple of legitimate moans about the ref but that happens in every game of football any team from the entire league suffers with so that can only and ever be used as an excuse.
Played 4 times this season 3-1 to the Shrews............who also finished 16 points better off in the league than you and if Amos hadnt pulled off a miraculous save near the end it would have been 3 nil on aggregate.
The only job we did on you was to have the better players, playing as a better side and beating you fairly and squarely.
So safe trip home once again and may see you again next season, as we still have a lot to do..........but the League has been dominated for the entire season by 3 Teams Wigan,Blackburn and Shrewsbury.............
As I said we might not yet go up but we certainly deserve a far better chance of doing so than Charlton..........."we did a job on you" what a side splitter................
We were and are a far better side than you over the season and the semis of the playoffs, and personally I think Bowyer would have far more success picking his nose than picking the team he picked today, with his tactics as you wouldnt score against us with that bunch the way you went about it today if we carried on playing till the end of the month.
Can always blame the ref though..................

Yea looking at it again from a different angle and slightly longer bit of video the geezer did throw his arm down in disgust across his body so may well of been celebrating that the ball was headed for row Z.........I would recommend Specsavers.................

so excuse me if I've missed it............but what about the big bloke in the grey shirt,in the Charlton end who jumped up,in what looked like a celebration of the goal as it hit the back of the net.
Was he one of us in the wrong end and if so did he get home ok???
Anyone else spot him, hard to miss I'd of thought and left me somewhat confused.
Well done lads excellent performance, after first 15 minutes, Paynes header into Nolans path was an excellent example of vision/touch and understanding and deserves a lot of praise imo.............
Oh and having Carl Robinson on as the studio expert, unbelievable choice, as biased as was possible to be and apart from what he had to say about PH at the end talked an unbelievable load of b******s............

Not sour grapes we were s**t and deserved what we got absolutely nothing.......but I hope Henderson presses charges for assault/GBH for that disgraceful totally pre meditated forearm smash, across the neck,he even looks to see where Henderson is before he displays his magnificent footballing skills YOB!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fat Pig Ignorant of a player who always has been a total thug and if it were a league game should get a maximum retrospective fine.

Apart from the 3 shocking decisions in the first half dont think we can complain..............
They got to us by bullying us,we couldnt hold a ball up.......up front all day
We were nervous,no composure, got rattled and panicked.
Tough to take cos we are light years better than that................let ourselves down big time..........
Thats my fear about the playoffs.....can we handle a physical battle, which is g'teed if we miss out on top 2???

Love all this stuff about not giving a monkeys about mickey mouse competition.
Yes I agree the organisation is pathetic but whats it brought us in in prize money so far £200k is it ?? less 20k to enter
Another 50k up for grabs Tuesday and then another 50 g'teed if we get to Wembley and 100k if we win it outright..
Big thing too for lower League players to make it to Wembley all for the competition and great chance to get some more momentum back after some disappointing displays at home lately............
am all for it but agree its construction is totally crackpot and must be changed but if we go all the way there will no doubt be posts on here complaining about the prize money not being enough or some other negative thought.
