I'm really looking forward to locking horns with Lincoln again after their spell in the non league. We've had some belting games against them over the years.
Having lost to Rotherham, Bristol Rovers and Gillingham it's refreshing to be playing a club I really respect, although I'm warming to Bristol Rovers these days.
Lincoln is a great away day. A lovely city and the football club now has a huge momentum. They are there for the first time and it's obviously a huge day out for them, not least because of their Cup form against higher league sides in the last 18 months. They're in the play offs and a cup final too.
Chuck in a thoroughly likeable management team, and if we weren't playing them I'd want them to win against almost anyone else in the bottom two divisions.
As it is in footballing terms I'm hoping we absolutely batter them, and don't let that momentum and big following get the upper hand.
I'm hoping a decent large pitch will suit us down to the ground, and we just get on with what we're good at. There's not an ounce of complacency because they're in the division below, but I'm hoping we have got that bit of quality to unlock the game, and keep it very tight at the back.
One day we will win at Wembley. It's the final hoodoo we need to break, and if anyone can, Hurst can.

Agree, really looking forward to it. I'm expecting a tough game for both sides and just hope Town's battling spirit and togetherness can see it through to victory. COYB.

I think the styles of play will be different - we will try to play through them, whereas they may well try to play over the top of us.

A friend of mine supports Carlisle, whom Lincoln beat at the weekend.
The report from CTFC was as follows, 'they weren't really that great, pretty poor really. Scored from a quick free kick we weren't alive to but other than that just collapsed like they'd been shot for a free kick most times we got a decent attack, then clearly handled the ball in the area which the referee pointed to for a penalty before deciding instead to give them a free kick. Matt Rhead spends most of the time just trying to wind people up and at every point of contention they all just swarmed around the ref'
Does any of this sound remotely familiar to our last few games?
If we play like we can we could be celebrating our first win at Wembley, a further defeat would be hard to stomach.

My point remains, it'll be a decent large pitch. They'll be passing on grass for a start, probably flat grass.
The square footage of the meadow makes no difference when the pitch is the consistency of a sticky toffee pudding.

Google is a waste of space then. On a spurs site it gives the Wembley pitch size as 100m X 69m. Again this is off google so it could be wrong ( 1 site has it at 105m x 68m). Whatever it's size it does seem that Spurs wanted to reduce the pitch size by 2m ( the same as White Hart Lane) but the FA refused to allow them to do it.

I cannot wait for Sunday.
Taking my lad and making a weekend out of it in London.
I think playing on a good playing surface will bring out the best in our team. Im hoping for a Charlton performance and to win the cup in style.
I want to be able to say 'I was there' when we lift the trophy after all these years of frustration and hard times

To be fair ours looked better on Monday

Whatever the size of the pitch we should be beating the likes of Lincoln City!

Absolutely - me too; meeting up with my future son-in-law, who will act as my carer; as he has the misfortune to be a season-ticket holder at Reading, I'm hoping that he'll learn something....!
Incidentally, Monday killed the jinx, so I can travel in con with my mate on Saturday, and look forward to a nice weekend.

i would imagine Hurst will go with the same line up as the oxford game unless toto and his mask are fit enough .if Thomas does play i hope he gets more service than he did against oxford and try and stretch them . i know we have a fit team but playing five games in seventeen days is asking a lot of them .

Currently, two young managers often talked about for future championship jobs go head to head. Championship clubs will be looking on closely.
Pleased to be playing Lincoln, a city and football club I've enjoyed visiting and playing against.

Me too. Two good proper league clubs with no ‘big money’ owners or big named players. This could turn out to be a really good advert for our type of football. No real pressure like there would be for a playoff final. A good chance to enjoy the day, the team, the atmosphere. Can’t wait.

I won't be there but I hope that if we do win, the Town fans are magnanimous to Lincoln. I recall both Rotherham and Gillingham fans being utter bell-ends after their victories, whereas Bristol Rovers were quite decent.

My son and his mates got set upon right outside the Stadium after the game Bristol fans were very good I thought and we even had a few beers with some of them after the game. I don't remember too manny issues V Rotherham but it was quite a long time ago and I went on the supporters coach and really didnt see any major problems

If I remember weren't some of the Gillingham 'fans' not actually Gillingham fans but hangers on from other London clubs?

If I remember weren't some of the Gillingham 'fans' not actually Gillingham fans but hangers on from other London clubs? Not sure about that, but a right mouthy lot. The Chiltern train was full of friendly Bristol Rovers fans both ways. At least all the Gillingham "fans" were going in the opposite direction.

If I remember weren't some of the Gillingham 'fans' not actually Gillingham fans but hangers on from other London clubs? Yes, a lot of people in Kent follow London teams but many of them have Gills as a "2nd team" (a concept I have never understood). But regardless, there were some real ass hats following them that day!
