I know people who are still shielding 🤷♂️ I’d suggest they need some mental help and support - that is genuinely worrying The effects of the media overhype I'm afraid.

Will storm Kathleen have a say in this fixture? Might spoil the spectacle, but it's a point or three that matters. What was the reason for the spectacle being spoiled at Bristol Rovers?

Never tested positive for it.
However we spent a few weeks in Majorca spring 2022 so 2 years after it was all hyped up by the media (was meant to be 2020, and then 2021.....). Had an extremely sore throat 2 days after flying out which lasted 2 or 3 days, then a runny nose for another 3 but I've had far worse colds. We had no access to testing kits with us so didnt test. I was doing plenty of warm weather cycling whilst over there and felt fine to carry on doing that. 2 others who were with us for a few days and felt under the weather and tested when they got home and were positive so I'm guessing I passed it on but cant be 100%.
Never had any cold like symptoms since till this winter when I've had 2 quite minor colds.
Wouldnt bother testing now, testing kits all long gone in the bin. But if I felt like I might have it I'd keep away from vulnerable friends and relatives.

A penalty wouldn’t go amiss…! To get a penalty you have to cause problems in the penalty area. Erm, that's why we havnt had one all season (I think).

They need to beat us to be within one win of promotion. I fear the worst. If they win and the other results go for them they are promoted all bar the shouting I think. They will undoubtedly be gunning for the win. I too fear the worst, just hope they hold back once they are 2 goals up as we will never pull that back against a top side I'm sure.

Unfortunately, it still seems that Stockport, Mansfield and Wrexham will be in the 3 automatic promotion places. Nothing 'unfortunately' about Stockport and Mansfield. But I think assuming Wrexham make it they will need to improve significantly to survive in our division.

I’m not sure I like this thread. It’s got an air of ‘we’re definitely staying up so we’re going to discuss who we might be playing next season’!!! 😉 I started the thread way back on 6th March so a month ago now. It was really to point out just how tight the bottom half of the table was back then. I'm sure we all hoped that we would be over the 50 point barrier by now. We arent there yet which is disappointing but it would take quite a major collapse over the last 5 games plus one those below us to have a very good run to end the season to see us go down. I will be happy to see us with a few more points but I dont see us being so bad that we go down.

Barring any last minute runs of either very good or very poor form for me its 2 out of 3 (Burton, Cheltenham, Port Vale) to accompany Fleetwood and Carlisle.
I'm not unduly worried about us joining them. We can and would pull out a result if we really had to I'm sure despite being e much of the season.

Plymouth have just sacked their manager after 3 months in charge. They sit 1 point above the relegation spots. How do you all fancy a trip to sunny Plymouth next season? On a wet Tuesday night in November....

Hurst can whinge all he wants but he has been here long enough to get to know the players by now. If the mentality is wrong, it is his job to manage that. If the work ethic is wrong, it is his job to manage that. If fitness is poor then its his job to recognise a tired player and do something about it. Also he should deploy tactics that are less demanding. (no sense in getting the team to press if they blow out their ass after 60 minutes) For me there was no a lack of effort today but I could not work out what our tactics were. We looked clueless and devoid of confidence. Again that is Hurst's job to manage. He has just had two weeks on the training field to find tune things. Whilst these players are not his and there isnt that much he can do about the fitness levels at this point the fact is that this is his starting 11, this is his formation, this is his tactics, they were his subs and he was the one who delivered the prematch and half time team talks. Today was pathetic and Hurst shirking blame onto the players does not wash with me. He has a free ticket this season and if we survive he would have done a good job of turning a downward spiral into a season where we keep out league 1 status but next season he will not get any free tickets and he must deliver. Agree he must deliver next season but it's a bit harsh to put all the blame this season on him. He had no say on who was brought in (until he arrived), their lack of fitness, cant score in a brothel, or the fact they dont play as a team too often. Think these thoughts should be held in substance till around the end of September because there will be very few here then that have been here this season. Let's judge him then.

Probably Rotherham, Sheff Wed and Plymouth - just shows the gap between Championship and League One. Ipswich might suggest otherwise! Just won 3-2 v Southampton with the last kick of the game and are top of the League. Ipswich have had a few seasons up there acclimitising since we were playing them. I guess if they went up to the Premier though they would take Sheff United place as whipping boys.

Might not be good quality but overall I'm happy with those scores today.
Come on Town, 1 more point will surely do it now.

I really hope you are wrong, I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole How many times would Hurst have to back him in selection & in interviews about his character for opinion to change? Genuine question for anyone that still has a thing against AOB. It’s another one we really don’t know the truth and Hurst keeps alluding to the truth having been stretched in the past. I dont think it's much to do with Hurst backing him tbh, the way to change supporters opinions is to score goals for a forward. Score 3 or 4 in these last few games and quite a few would want him playing come next season no matter what has gone on in the past.

Still can’t make up my mind if 50 is needed or not. A lot might be answered Monday. Either way it’s still a must win game. I’m gonna say two more wins. I still think in the last 15 years across the two bottom divisions only one team has been relegated with 50 points. I might be wrong. 50 points will be more than enough. Thankfully because I'm not sure we will get that many but I'm fairly confident we will stay up.

Think any deal would have to be appearance based for me. Big injury related issues would be my big worry with him. Cant afford to pay him a good wage and have him him out injured much of the time. Mr Moore will sort it. Heaven help us if he sorts it like he did this season.

A good read and good reaction from him.
Cant see him being here next season though, but he wont be on the same wages as we have been paying here at any club.

HTF do you manage to pick up so many injuries when you havnt even played a competitive game? Are these players so unfit that they get injured just training?
Hurst didnt sound too convinced with the fringe players who played against Kiddy either.
Big clear out coming in 7 games time.

We could most certainly do with some sort of update from the club covering these figures (not the detail obviously but an outline). I'd like to hear what measures are being taken to move us back towards being sustainable going forward. On measures, I think you may have seen or heard of some of them already: New Sponsors Staff changes, football and non-football Director Changes Shop changes Kit Supplier Changes Which we can assume means other supplier changes are done, proper financial controls and reporting are in place, and plans are afoot for more changes e.g. academy move, and revenue generation Would just be good business sence to address the whole scenario in 1 full statement by the club to the paying fans. The position we are in now, and an outline of why. And measures being taken to move things forward, possibly expanding a little on that. Putting a positive spin on things.

After a very quick look: The notes in the accounts suggest that the restated loss is due to brining in the academy costs (from memory) into the accounts. The directors put in £500k up to June 2023 by way of loan, which at the time of signing of the accounts has increased to £1.2m. Lack of Premier league money is a £500k shortfall Big jump in wages across the club of £800k. No breakdown of the £500k increase in administration expenses, which would be the general running costs of the club, not necessarily on the football side (maintenence, energy costs etc) I suspect that will also include hotel stays at 5* hotels for all away games which last seasons manager booked. Totally unnecessary in the majority of games. Wonder if FGR have stretched to luxury hotels for each away game yet?

Sure we will be seeing the last of the higher earners playing for the club in these last few games. Be a different squad come next season, just hope they are all not MMs LOI 'stars' else weve got another relegation battle to look forward to. Getting Marosi, Dunkley, Shipley & Bayliss off the books would save the best part of £750,000 a year, but they're players we should be getting fees for really. Add O'Brien and it's pushing onwards over £900,000 I'd say. The worry however is what you're replacing them with... And if it's Burgoyne, Sraha, Perry & Idowu in the starting lineup then that's seriously weakening us! I guess the flip side of the argument is that despite paying those inflated (for6 us) wages we have 'achieved' a mid table finish followed by a flirting with relegation season. So it's not sustainable in any way shape or form. Just hope PH can conjure some magic like the last time to put a competitive squad together that can at least keep us away from the lower reaches of the table. Of course that is if he is actually still here come next season too.
