The worry for me is still our inferior goal difference compared to all the other teams. It would certainly help if Peterborough could put 4 or more goals past Port Vale tomorrow evening. It wont come down to GD, it wont.

Yep,also it's funny how wrexsham fans are now appearing on hear now, after nearly 20 years of silence......like that television programme..."strange but true" 🤔🤔😳😲 Oh I dunno. Weve had that Wrexham (??) fan Noto on here for years..... unless you think he is actually a Town fan masquerading as a Wrexham fan......

Are the pessimists feeling a bit better right now? Cheltenham have to win 3 (out of 5) to go above us without us picking up any further points.
Big chance for Cheltenham tonight and they cant get a shot on target in 90 mins against the worst team in the division.
We are staying up, not because we are any good but because there are others much worse than we are.

We should get a full house if they are relegated Even on the roof maybe like they did at the Meadow, Colin Griffin winking at the Riverside after leaving Keith Bertschin with rather a large gash on his thigh March 8th 1980 won 1-0 Was that the time the police rounded up a load of Brum fans who were in the Tech end. Got them out onto the pitch then moved them to the Station end taking them all past the Riverside faithful. Brilliant move, er not!

The wife bought into all the hype big time but soon enough saw the crap we were being fed. So we did have quite a number when they were finally available of course. I tested WHEN I HAD TO so probably less than half a dozen times (apart from the very overpriced times I had no choose due to traveling). The remaining ones have all been binned probably 12 months ago or more. so you stockpiled the kits, Â ended up throwing them away, Â and now they have t charge for them, Â good work Well those that still think they need to test have to pay for them. Yes. To the vast majority of us they just obsolete stuff taking up room at home.

Yes just 2 minutes To achieve absolutely nothing. Feeling under the weather just keep away from the vulnerable. Simple. Anyway all my testing kits have been binned months ago. So if you've got a cold you'd stay away from seeing anyone? Give over Not quite what I said is it..... I've been lucky with colds in the last few years. Since Covid I've only had 2 very minor sniffles, one before this Christmas just gone and one 2 or 3 weeks ago. Had nothing like a full blown cold since at least 2019. If I did have I would keep away from vulnerable people. I have 2 in my immediate family, an 80 year old mother in law (no underlying health issues) and a brother in law in his 50s who has had a transplant. I also know 2 other transplantees, in 40s and 50s who are getting on with their lives without any (outward at least) fears about what Covid could do to them. Guess it's because they have had Covid without any concerning effects.

Why test? If you've got something whether its Covid or not it's best to avoid passing on whatever it is to them. I dont need a test to be sensible. Because it takes two minutes? Not sure how I haven't had it again - and I say this as a touch wood healthy individual - I would still test if I had symptoms and I was going to visit elderly relatives - think it's really selfish to not spend two minutes testing if it means stopping your relatives from getting covid. Why test? If you've got something whether its Covid or not it's best to avoid passing on whatever it is to them. I dont need a test to be sensible.

Even if all the results go against us we will still be a minimum of 5 points ahead as I see it.
Guess Burton are sweating even more about this weeks results.

Torquay United are now winning 2-0 at Truro City. Truro is a city? That's surely on a par with Wrexham being one, meaningless.
Amazing how far Torquay have sunk isn't it?
Just hope they can survive this season without being relegated. Think they just might be about to turn the corner and a further relegation would be a big blow. To think they were my hope to get back into the FL as they were in the NL play offs only 3 or 4 years ago.

They played at Plymouth Parkway, but that ground had drainage problems I believe, so they were forced to look elsewhere, then I think shared with Taunton who also had many postponements, which is why they have ended up at Gloucester.  Twice they’ve had to play Sat at 7.30 pm after Gloucester have played at 3pm! Yes, I’d forgotten about possibly using Taunton, who were also forced to play at Gloucester last week, because their ground was waterlogged again. Amazing they are playing at Gloucester, as its so far away. Also the old Gloucester ground used to flood even more often than Gay Meadow.

I remember them all (cant think of all the names right now). And I was too young to have drunk in all of them, just most of them. Used to drink in The Green Man early 70s very scary 😟 The Green Man, my first ever 'local'. Spent most lunchtimes along with others from New College as 16 year olds who should have been back studying in the afternoons back in 1975. Great jukebox (which we learnt how to manipulate so you could put as much music as you wanted on for your 5 pence), table football, and the outside toilets. Was either there or standing in the sawdust on the floor just down the road at the Kings Head.

Yes well done to them in getting into the play offs.
(Might be a bit harder to congratulate them if they end up winning them though 🙂 )

For me it was £27 and something pence per week. That was take home after tax and deductions. Think it was about £35 before deductions. I paid £10 to mum for keep and had the rest to fritter on women and drink and in a few months time running a car.
It was in September 1976 at GKN Sankeys which was the major employer in the Telford area as an office trainee.
Paid in cash in a little brown wages envelope with the important details hand written on the packet that you collected from the training office. I'm guessing the whole 5-6,000 staff were all paid in a similar way, a huge undertaking for the wages department every week.

Matches tomorrow evening include Blackpool v Fleetwood, Bristol Rovers v Reading and Cheltenham v Carlisle. Is it too much for us to hope that Carlisle can get a result at Cheltenham? Carlisle have picked up some good results since their relegation was pretty much confirmed. Didnt they hammer Peterborough the other week?

Let's stop worrying about Cheltenham ffs.
They have to win 3 of their last 6 games to get past us without us picking up another point. Is it possible? Yes it is but do remember that they have only won 10 out of 40 so far (ie 1 in every 4).
It's any 2 from 3 to accompany Fleetwood and Carlisle.

I'll be amazed if we offer any new contracts, and even more amazed if the player signs it. If we do have PH here next season, it will be a much changed team. Not a bad thing though. I'm not quite of the mindset that players' take months to gel. At this level everyone knows the basics, and doing the basics well wins games. All the teams are in the same boat when it comes to players' 'gelling'. Looking forward to next season already. It cannot be worse than the last 2 or 3 seasons, even if we are in L2. I'd be amazed if we offer any of those out of contract a new offer - except possibly Benning who wont be on anything like the rest who's contract are up. There are several who PH could build a team around (that are currently nowhere near their best performances due to the season we have had - ie Marosi, Dunkley, Udoh) but they will be on much higher wages that we cant afford to offer them any contract they will be interested in signing.

I reckon 3 more points needed to stay up. Max 3, possibly less will be enough. But let's just get the 3 points against Wycombe and put all this talk to bed.

Town play Wycombe Saturday after Wycombe play twice this week so they should be tired. Wycombe then travel to Port Vale on the tuesday. You would expect both town and Vale to pick up max points. Extra time at Wembley today for Wycombe would also help. You putting money of Wycombe being more tired than we are in the last 30 mins? Based on our fitness all season it might not be so. Just saying.

Looking at points from the last three games and looking at the teams below us. Town 2 points Cambridge 6 points and a game in han port vale ,4 points and a game in hand Burton 1 point Cheltenham 3 points and two games in hand Cheltenham are playing Carlisle in the week a draw would be the best result and you hope Peterborough could beat port vale Sod Cheltenham and Carlisle drawing. Carlisle win every time, they cant catch us if they win every game.

I’m hoping PH got this line-up right but I ain’t hopeful. Looks like a case of take what happens and move one! I mean, it’s not as if it will greatly influence our goal difference if we lose it! PH wont get a side right this side of next August. Unfortunately he doesnt have the players available to get the side right till after the summer.

The decline of the local boozer is accelerating. I can get a pint of San Miguel / Moretti in the pubs of Bayston Hill for just under a fiver, or for £6 I can get 3 660ml bottles from the fridge at the Sainsbury's garage on my way home. Youve stated a fact and given the answer to it all in that short post sadly.

Correct. But she lived while she was alive, didnt sit around doing nothing just waiting till it happened. I know which way I want to go. but why are you telling others to do it as well ? Because in my mind that is the way to be. One life, live it. Fit in as much in the time you have. Dont hold back. That is what I'd say to anyone who had the conversation with me. Guess others feel differently though so I'll shut up.

I personally know of 5 or 6 people who are immunocompromised who were advised to isolate, I'm guessing they still get told to to be very careful of doing anything which involves mixing. All of those have had all the vaccines going, have still had Covid (all fairly mild symptoms no doubt due to the vaccines) and are all going about their lives as they were before all the media scare stories. Those who are still isolating are basically just existing until they die of something whatever that is. You've only got one life, live it while you are here. It's hat certain at some point you will be gone however long away that is. that very final line could have come straight out of the mouth of someone like Amy Winehouse Correct. But she lived while she was alive, didnt sit around doing nothing just waiting till it happened. I know which way I want to go.

I started the thread way back on 6th March so a month ago now. It was really to point out just how tight the bottom half of the table was back then. Forest Green Rovers and their battle against relegation have their very own message board so this thread is hardly out of place. None of the clubs discussed on this thread have a certain ex manager of ours though 🙂

Been out for a meal recently with a friend, she's on the wagon, so I joined her. Makes a hell of a difference to the bill for a meal with just a soft drink. The cost of soft drinks has risen even more than alcoholic ones in recent times. My brother in law and his wife dont drink and they cant beleive that in many places a large coke or lemonade is not far off the price of a beer. Even soda water and lime isnt far behind.
