First its Rochdale, now its Torquay. Their standing down Chairman makes a lot of good points about funding and distribution of it in the lower leagues. www.bbc.com/sport/football/68372224Go on, your memories of games between Torquay and Town.

It's a shame, Torquay's shops and restaurants and now the football club. The place has gone down hill while the richer inhabitants have no need for any of them and wallow in their luxury apartments.

Think the game I remember most v Torquay was in the Whtsitsnamethisyear Trophy in the early 90s.
When we were in a 3 team group with the other team being either Exeter or Swansea.
You played 1 of the teams at home and the other away, think the top 2 went through. All of the 3 games ended up 1-1 so all 3 teams couldnt he separated. Guess what they did? Yes they replayed the whole fiasco again with the home and aways reversed.
Anyway it meant we played Torquay at home this time and they thrashed us 6-2. Only rewarding thing about that games was it removed Asa Hartford from his job as manager. Guess the biggest factor was he appointed John Bond as assistant and John blagged his way to take over. The rest as we know was history......

Apparently Gary Johnson, the manager, has walked away.
I saw Torquay play at Worthing about 4 weeks ago, they lost 4-2 and had 2 ex Town players in squad - Mark Halstead in goal and Asa Hall on bench.

Both of those have been with them fir at least a couple of years. Were in the team as they were challenging at the top end of the National League play offs to get back into the FL.

I never actually made it to Torquay to see Town and so my main memory is going out to buy a bigger TV especially to watch the play off game down there back in 2011. We were dire that day. Osborne seems very keen to build new stadiums doesn't he. Hope they get sorted anyhow.

Always enjoyed Torquay as it was the Chris Smith away weekend nearly every time.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but did I see Austin Berkeley score there once?
The trip I remember most was when I didn’t go for the weekend but went on the bus and accompanied a very elderly gentleman who I knew from Church Stretton and who had never been there. He had a lovely day and was such good company.

Main memory is they seemed to be a bogey side for years. Two memories of games against them though:
The first is one is a story I've told a few times, planned an overnight stop but trains were delayed so I arrived at the ground at half time, the ground was locked up but managed to persuade someone to let us in, trouble was were in the home end. We were then escorted through their fans and I think in the end to discover we were losing and nothing happened second half.
The other was actually winning against them, it was 3-0 towards the end of season, I think Lee Steele scored twice and got MOM, the first time an away player had won it. Pretty sure the same game he had a shot that went miles over the bar, hit a light which then fell into the away end

Steele was unplayable that day and danced round their keeper with. ease. The keeper had the turning circle of a Cruise ship mind - a big guy by the name of Neville Southall.

Dare I say the word Jake Robinson.... He’s usually on the bench for Worthing but often comes on mid way through second half. This week Worthing played Welling who had another two ex Town players - Anthony Grant who scored and also got a red card, and Reice Charles-Cook in goal. He was on our books but never made an appearance.

I first went there in the 1960’s while on holiday. I wonder how many extra supporters they get during the holiday season?

But in the 60s they used to play Saturday evening games in an effort to get the holiday makers in after a day at the beach.

My first visit to Plain moor was on the 14th October 1978 to see them play, Rochdale, in league division 4. I was on holiday in Torquay for a week with my mum and dad. As it was a Saturday evening game my dad and me went to the game along with about 2,000 others...it ended up 1-1 and the highlight was ex Town player Les Lawrence* up front for Torquay. * Hands up those who remember Les Lawrence in a Town shirt?

They’ve been deducted 10 points and now only three points off the relegation places and face a drop into tier 7!

Meanwhile, it's not good news on an EFL/Premier League deal.

Why has it got ANYTHING to do with the clubs ? The separate governing bodies should agree on a percentage of the TV deals done with the different broadcaster's, if a deal has to be done ? Can't really see (as much as I despise tge Premier league) why the football league should get money given to them ?

Playing away at Truro City tomorrow night who are playing their home games at Gloucester City's ground. Blimey did not realise that Truro where playing all their remaining home games at Gloucester - nearly 200 miles away!!! That is a heck of a journey for an away game never mind a home one!! However just seen that they haven't played a game in Truro or even Cornwall since 2020!!

The day Jimmy Glass scored for Carlisle to keep them in the League we won at Torquay and Lee Steele was given man of the match. Must be very rare for an away player to gey award.
My first visit to Torquay was early 80's when they regularly did 7.30pm kick off on Saturday nights. So you could watch Exeter and Torquay.
Got in area of ground at 7pm and struggled to find it. Ended up asking one of the few people about, they went it's there. I was about 100 yards away but couldn't see ground as floodlights not on yet🤣🤣🤣
Saw ten goals that day, 4-3 in afternoon and Torquay won 3-0

Maybe I could help Why don't Truro play at Torquay ? Everyone's a winner 🥳 They did for a time, I think. Then a ground in Plymouth (not Argyle) but there were problems so finishing this season at Gloucester. New ground in Truro should be ready next season
