And the away record isn't to shabby now either!!!👍😃 Let's hope it continues over the last 4 away games, though with Bolton and Pompey trips to come you would expect it to be severely tested.

wasnt everyone drooling over the appointment of Darren Moore a few weeks back ? and the amazing 5 1/2 year contract More amazed at the length of contract on offer... Exactly this I picked up on on this forum the minute it got announced. What percentage of lower league managers last 5 1/2 years at the same club? Probably into single figures you would guess. Was it Flitcroft who arranged this, who knows.

It's great that this event was arranged by or held at the club.
I have been to other similar events that are held in the Telford area in recent years so have been checked regularly. Thankfully no further issues for me at present.
But it's always best to get it checked if you are a gent of certain age.

Another interesting stat here which shows how we have been starved of excitement for a while. It's amazing that fans have stayed so loyal to the club during this period really Even more worrying is 2 of the clubs are us & Grimsby where Hurst has been for the majority of the 10 years 😁 To be fair even when we were going well under Hurst a few years ago we werent prolific goalscorers, just had a damn good defence.

I'm quite looking forward to his update as I have no idea what he does day to day. Yes we may actually find a few things out today hopefully.

We are not getting ahead of ourselves as job only half done. Poland next Tuesday is going to be a tougher proposition. 🏴🏴🏴🏴 Wasnt expecting the sensible Welsh fans to be celebrating, just a certain one we know so well. Maybe he will be along later when he is knackered from the Wetherspoons table dancing and admiring the view from the terrace overlooking Cai park.

Surprisingly quiet on here tonight given what has been going on over the border.
Thought we might have seen an appearance from someone lording it up a little. Maybe he has forgotten about Wales biggest game since the last one. Or is he keeping a low profile due to his club team teetering on the brink of bottling their season?
Answers on a postcode if anyone knows more.

If you have a spare half hour, checkout the list of former league clubs on Wikipedia. Highly enjoyable and fascinating too. If you've spent half an hour checking these things out how come you've not come up with the correct answers. 🙄

hasnt started well ? thats an opinion, not a fact not bad considering he is the Venn diagram of 'dead man walking' since the day he arrived as far as im concerned my opinion he's done all thats been asked of him so far Sure its an opinion. Looking to the signings made and their impact I don't think its been a good start. OK, so we disagree. Of course it's an opinion. Dont think you are alone in having this opinion by a long way though. If the club needs to save on a wage, there is a huge opportunity here for sure.

A few more ex league clubs admittedly some before Seversides time but JT and Armchair will remember 😉 (I’ve had a list of all time clubs saved for years) Aberdare Athletic not realected 1926/27 Ashington. Not reflected 1928/29 Bootle. Resigned 1892/3 Darwin. Resigned 1888/9 Durham City not realected 1927/28 Gainsborough Trinity not realected 1911/12 Glossop not realected 1914/15 Loughborough not realected 1899/00 Maidstone United. 1991/2 liquidated Nelson. Not realected 1930/31 New Brighton. Not realected 1950/51 New Brighton Tower. Liquidated 1901/2 Northwich Victoria Resigned 1893/4 Stalybridge Celtic Resigned 1922/23 Thames Resigned 1931/32 Theres a few more ‘defunct’ clubs where the location has a replacement club like various Rotherham’s and Burtons Middlesbrough… Only two clubs have ever been ‘expelled’ from the football league. Guess who? Interesting last question. I googled it but wont spoil the fun. 1 quite obvious, the other one not quite so.

You can make stats mean anything. They used to say that Liverpool never lost when Ian Rush scored. That says more about their defence. If they never concede more than one then it’s also true of any other scorer. This season we have never lost when Bowman or Mata have scored! That's good to know then! One player who is out on loan, one player who cant get on the subs bench most of the time.

Lincoln, Leyton Orient, Luton, Oxford, Mansfield, Bristol Rovers, Exeter, Cambridge and Tranmere all fell out of the league and returned. Carlisle and Colchester just two more. Cheltenham too. Hereford, Halifax, Macclesfield, Aldershot, Dagenhan, Hartlepool dropped out, came back and now gone again.

Spain v Columbia on Friday night. Either Assistant Referee on a local Cup Semi Finalon Saturday afternoon or a Combined Counties League game followed by England v Brazil at Wembley. Madly will be my 98th match at Wembley since it was rebuilt. Belgium on Tuesday will be 99th game Poor bugger, couldn't pay me to go to Wembley! Totally agree. Never ever want to go near the place again.

As well as being amongst the lowest scorers in the FL we have had virtually no penalties either.
Tells you all you need to know about how poor we have been going forward.
Get this season over and safe then move onto putting things right next autumn.

Pre Carlisle, Hurst commented the two weeks "gives us a chance to look at plans for moving forward to next season, looking at players and things like that." So no loan payers as likely not part of plans for next season. I'm sure we will have loan players, he had a few decent ones last time he was here. Just hope its PH picking them, not MM mind.

Was hoping we might have expanded on the FLT game where we threw on lots of youngsters to give them an idea of what first team football was like. Did it in the last game where there was nothing to play for.
A game like that every few weeks would surely be of benefit to the fringe players.

Can't see port vale staying up as there terrible. They still have to play Wigan Bolton and Peterborough away which is 3 defeats for starters. They do have Burton away next Saturday and Cambridge at home last game of the season that are winnable, but based on how they played against us last week and how my mate who is a vale fan said they played on Saturday in losing to Oxford, he doesn't think they will win another game this season. My Burton supporting mate is classing the Vale game as a Must Win but no confidence that they will do it. Think Carlisle doing the double over them (in just their 5 wins this season) doesnt help.

I would guess that Mata will be recalled from his loan at or close to the end of our season. Give him a few weeks off in our close season and the coaches will work on him during the pre season. Then see where he is come mid August before deciding if he is (or maybe) improved to be a contender for us, or decide to loan him out to League 2. I think he can be loaned to National League during the season as well which might be another option come the autumn.

I do hope they make these games count.

Something along the lines of.......if he keeps Shrewsbury in league 1.....the club will give him a 2/3 yr contract Long as we dont do a 'Port Vale' and give the manager a 5 years contract. It's looking like a huge pay off at some point in the future, as I said it might well be when it was anounced.

We are near enough safe now from relegation just 3 or 4 more points will do. Fleetwood vale and carlise have basically given up and losing every week it's only Cheltenham showing any fight but cant see them getting more than 47 points. The last 5 performances have been really poor. We are on 44 points and with 7 games left I think we will be doing damn well to the magic 50. Away games Bolton 3rd Bristol Rovers 13th Portsmouth 1st Charlton 16th
Home games Orient 10th Wycombe 12th Oxford 6th
Wont need 50 this season, 48 will be enough I've no doubt (even with our GD). We are not safe yet but after yesterday's win I'm confident we will survive.

Just a quick update on how Max is doing in Sligo. Played in all six league games so far this season and has scored 4 goals in his last two games having scored 0 in his first four! Obviously a confidence striker who needs a run of games to get going! PS, he also has 2 assists! He is probably getting far better service there than he ever got here. Just wonder if he is a player PH can coach to the levels needed for L1?
