We would have to fall a long way down to ever become rivals once again. We dropped down to the level that they can now only dream of (or remember if they are old enough) and showed them exactly how to become a FL club whilst their Rome was burning. Whilst finishing 17 points BEHIND Hereford But we got back up to the FL via one of the two routes available. Meanwhile Telford were not in the race.

I just think it is funny to see them languishing where they are, the only glimmer of light they have is that occasionally we lose at Wembley while playing 4 divisions above them.
Remember when they were taken over by that bloke with dubious standards, the back pages and letters section of the Star was littered with rubbish about how they were going to be the main team in Shropshire, leaving us behind. The new Bucks A**e was going to put Gay Meadow to shame even though the capacity wasn’t going to be much more that that our out Main Stands. As things went belly up they got their comeuppance with loud “we told you so” mocking from our end of the A5. They are left playing at a relatively low level, just dreaming of one day being our rivals. We would have to fall a long way down to ever become rivals once again. We dropped down to the level that they can now only dream of (or remember if they are old enough) and showed them exactly how to become a FL club whilst their Rome was burning.

Looking at the personnel page on the website, there seems to be a few 'missing' roles, no physio, no fitness coach, I'm sure there were more analyst roles too. Pity there wasnt Director of football missing.....

Crawley beating MK Dons 3-0! ssshrew and many others on here will be delighted with that score. Yes great score, hope Crawley can get a few more. But hopefully Doncaster or Crewe provide the final promotion place.

Wow, well done. All achieved on a shoestring budget. And? What's your point? You do know you get the same 3 points / promotion regardless of money spent, right? Maybe you don't, seeing as your club has been going nowhere for years. Just be thankful for another rare sell out next season, all because Wrexham are in town. That must hurt. That must have seemed light years away once you departed the FL a generation ago. Can understand you creaming yourselves about it. Just another fixture for us regular FL fans. We dont class Wrexham as a big side however much that you might not understand.

I reckon we could aim for automatic promotion out of the cranberry sauce leagues, yeah. The third tier, where we actually play and is four levels about Telford, will be significantly harder for sure. It was only 20 years ago we were in the same division and couldn't beat them in 4 attempts and not only that they had a new ambitious chairman who was about to take them places , they needed it they had been stuck in the conference for so long , I bet they wish they were still there 🙃 Well on the way to being Shropshire No1 club we kept being told. Possibly not even Telfords No1 club these days.

What benefit could they ever be to us? The relationship ended when Cowan left. They've always been more interested in allowing the dingles under 11s to ruin their pitch. Fantastic to see them come up short. Gift that's keeps giving. For a start, when they were in a reasonable non league position we picked up Udoh there. Think you've answered yourself with the first part of that statement. No longer in a reasonable non league position. Long may it stay that way.

Match postponed. Now scheduled from tomorrow evening at 7:30pm. Its interesting that a play off game can be rescheduled for 24 hours time (plus a bit) but any FA Cup game called off gets rescheduled for 10 days later with the usual excuse that the police insist on it.

Charlie Ruff at Chelmsford City. Wow,now that's the sort of random name that we all love😁 Creative, goalscoring midfielder 24 years of age- 45 appearances, 19 goals this season but has never played above NLS level. The cynic in me says there's a reason why he's never played higher, but the dreamer says imagine if he was a success with us😁 Probably similar level to where Udoh came from.

Got a feeling he was sent back early when on loan for punching Mike Jackson on the team coach, but maybe my memory? Yep I'm pretty certain that was the reason. He wasñt all bad then......

Oh dear. I did hope that the vast majority of the squad would have been in place during the pre season friendlies. Playing with a part squad for almost 1/4 of the season isnt good in my book, too many points can be lost which can mean by end of August you have to play catch up. The top few places can be out of reach before you've got your squad fully together. "Top few places?"...whoa,🙄 touch of realism needed here. Unless we can get PL loan players in that aren't costing us any wages we are going to be severely restricted ATM I'm a "glass empty" guy....think that we will have another major struggle next season even with PH in charge. Sadly lightning doesn't strike twice 😪😪 Not suggesting that we will be in with chance of the top 2 places but at this stage it's not impossible to dream. Imagine Hursts last time here, had we not got off to a flying start we might have struggled to even get in the play offs at all. This building your squad over the first 9/10 games that the transfer window is open isnt a good thing, I've felt it was an issue with all the previous managers since Hurst left. Just out of interest can anyone find who we signed and when in the Wembley season, my memory is that most were in place by the time we kicked off and had played together in the PS friendlies. I was hoping Hurst might be looking to do very much the same if he could.

The loanees rarely get sorted early on - Hurst is likely to be looking to the loan market for at least three of the first team. I'm sure he will be but I'd also hope he has memories (nightmares??) Of how fitness issues hindered us this year so he would want to get as many of the squad up to the fitness levels of his last time here and have his ideal first eleven playing together during the pre season games.

Interesting article from PH, tend to miss these with pay wall….. Hurst: Reset is a chance to bring Shrews together Paul Hurst is hoping to use this summer's reset as an opportunity to bring together a group of players who are more 'aligned'. There is set to be a huge turnover in their squad after they released eight first-team players at the conclusion of the League One season on Saturday. Some players have been offered new deals but may not sign, while the loan players have returned to their parent clubs. This leaves Town with nine first-team players. And Hurst says that this can sometimes be a benefit. "It can be," he said. "I think sometimes there are cycles within a football club. "There were a group of players who were here that had a good season last year - albeit and I think it has been made public that was at a certain cost. "Then that has been added to with a new group, and I don't think that has mixed in fantastically well if l am honest. "So I think to try to get a group who are all on a similar page and more aligned with each other that is what we have the option of doing. "Is it a significant challenge? Yes, I don't think I can hide away from that it is. "Part of it is exciting, and part of it is daunting, even by the middle of July the squad might not be complete, hopefully by the close of the August window, we are all happy with the business and can ultimately overachieve. "That is ultimately the aim. 1 have no issue with that. Oh dear. I did hope that the vast majority of the squad would have been in place during the pre season friendlies. Playing with a part squad for almost 1/4 of the season isnt good in my book, too many points can be lost which can mean by end of August you have to play catch up. Joe Jacobson released by Wycombe.
Had a feeling he had a benefit match recently and must have has best part of 10 years with them. Should never have been allowed to leave Town.

At least 2 Championship clubs interested in the keeper...so I think it's not going to happen. Portsmouth just released at least three very very good players...Ragett amongst them. Guess it depends if he wants to be 2/3rd choise at a Championship side or possibly be No1 in the league below.

Well I’m hoping for a Telford win, local team history and all that. I keep hearing references to their striker Montel Gibson (great name) so checked him out 6 in 20 for Telford but seems he was under PH at Grimsby although he released him…. Stats aren’t great bu5 maybe he’s a late developer. Local team, local history and a fan base who would love us to suffer multiple relegations and go bust! Multiple relegations and go bust...... Hmm, they have a big head start on this.
