Just seen this post by a Wycombe fan "All change at Wycombe Wanderers. New owner revealed yesterday who has taken 90% of the club and reportedly is worth £5Billion. A few hours after this announcement we find out he’s persuaded Premier League Everton’s Head of Emerging Talent to leave and help set up our new Academy. Then we find out this morning that our ground is to be renamed the Kaspi Stadium with a £40M injection over 5 years. Unless we find new investment quickly (this summer) I have serious concerns that we can remain in league 1 next year. Its looked stacked

If I were a Wycombe fan I'd be very concerned for the long term future of the club. They are now owned by a man worth billions. We are being bankrolled by an 82 year old man and his accountant. In terms of who should be concerned about their long term future, I expect they are more relaxed than us. |

In terms of who should be concerned about their long term future, I expect they are more relaxed than us. Yes, exactly that. Footballs history is flush with new owners taking over clubs promising the world and not delivering. Who knows if that is the situation at Wycombe. What I do know is that our current ownership model is so deeply flawed as to be an immediate and real threat to the long term future of us as a football league club. So, I think I would take a chance with a Wycombe type situation, which I hope is not far off. |

I did wonder if it was that Swedish consortium who are reported to be doing the rounds.  That is an awful lot of money and I gather he has met all the criteria as fit and proper so fair play, looks a decent move for them. I understand the concerns and its one to watch but this could have a huge positive impact on the club and then some (looking to the proposed academy, for example). Will Ferrell putting money into Leeds now too apparently, again this years Hollywood must have is some stake in a lower league English football club. Bizarre. Anyhow, said it before and I'll say it again, someone get Jason Bateman on the blower!! |
