Just found this website, fascinating figures on our average attendances since 1950 european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/shrt.htmOver 9000 per game in early part of the 1950s, then gradually falling until we hit the rock bottom in late 1990s when we went below 3000. Some very poor attendances in the years of the championship (Div 2) From the move to the New Meadow we have gradually increased the average attendance Think the attendances jumped up significantly from our season in the Conference too.

Sounds ideal for us with that scoring record. Yes, the two against town record sets him up well for the "scores freely in training, but not against other teams" tag I'm sure I've heard before. Yes but is he good out of possesion?

Didn't he score two against Town around Xmas, From Cheltenham so would be a Micky Moore recruit? His two against town were his only goals all season! Has been at Cheltenham since he was a kid though so Moore would know him well. Never been a regular for them though in his whole time. 58 starts across 6 seasons and 8 goals Sounds ideal for us with that scoring record.

Shop has been offered a new contract at York City He wont be signing it. Hurst has been talking to him apparently about coming back here. Will be on low wages so fits the bill nicely.

Only one new ground for me - Huddersfield. A trip to Tottenham in the Cup would be nice. You weren’t there for the (in)famous Chris Withe goal celebration? I was. Pity they scored 2.

Steve Morison staying put as manager of Sutton, and Steve Arnold sounds like he is staying as keeper too as they drop to the National league.

Still under contract with the O’s for another season and yes he was in the Team of the season when he was with us. At left back. In the team of the season - playing out of his normal position.

He knew Anderson was going back at the end of the season, and possibly he could and might still get him back if he liked what he saw in the final few games as his contract is up (I think) this summer. So those few games were probably a bit of a trial looking towards next seasons squad. Sraha is our player and Hurst knows he will be able to work on him over the summer to see what he can get from him. Would be amazed if he used crucial away games at Bolton and Charlton, when safety was far from secured as a trial period for a player who’d barely even made his bench in months and months. I think he just thinks he’s s better player than Sraha at the current time. But my overarching point is there has to be synergy between the types of players Moore will be looking at bringing in and whether Hurst will actually want and use them. You have to hope that Hurst and Moore (if he remains here) actually work together to get in players they both want. If not Moore has to go.

No doubt Alty in the FL would result in lots of grumping from Grizzly but if you look at their history there are many occasions when they have come close to FL status and if they do so it will be on merit and without the backing of a sugar daddy. No issues at all about Alty coming up. They are a long established club who have played in the 5th tier for many of the years since it was established in 1979. The clubs I feel are not bringing much to the FL are the ones who have come up from several levels down and are currently riding the wave. Every club has its ultimate level and those who are on the chest of the wave now are likely to fall off it in the not too distant future (a la FGR and Sutton) and disappear back to where they have come from or are funded by a sugar daddy and become the next Rushden. Was hoping Halifax (1st choise) or Alty (2nd) made it up. Alas not to be, so I'm not bothered who makes it up now.

People will give credit where it's due, for example fans have been complimentary about Jason Sraha this season and are happy if that is the sort of player the model brings in. I say 'for example' whereas in reality he's the only one who could be remotely considered a success story But then you look at someone like Sraha and think Hurst doesn’t seem particularly enthused by him, given he bought Anderson in from the cold to fill in the last few games. All seems clear as mud to me.

It's time to fly this nest and be No 1 somewhere. Look forward to seeing how he gets on. Yes, he must have splinters in his backside from being on our bench for so long.

If true, it would lend weight to PHs latest comments that the work starts now on rebuilding for next season...so sounds like he's already got a list of players to target You would expect Hurst to have a load of players already in advanced talks about coming here. He has known for weeks there was a huge rebuilding job required. Think from memory he had several signed up early close season in 2017 ??

Attendances held up very well given the standard of football on display.
I'm guessing they didnt count how many were left at the final whistle.....

In terms of best supported teams in the national league this season, Bromley come 10th, average 2,637, Solihull Motors are down in 20th, 1,445. Another reason they wont enhance the FL. Not exactly going to be sell outs very often at either ground whoever gets to go up.

Arent Crawley just such a club that you say you dont want. Or is there something about them I'm not aware of? I've always seen them as a new town club who would not be anywhere near the football league without significant cash injections. A bit like the Andy Shaw situation, although that didn't quite go to plan. As a consequence a large part of their fanbase is made up of plastic fans that aren't emotionally attached in the way we are. Obviously there will be a core support that have been there for years and are very invested in the club. On another scale Bournemouth in the prem no way they'd be there without the Russian money and it leaves the club looking a bit soulless, which we know deep down is not the case. Again, I'm not saying small clubs shouldn't be able to get to the prem, but maybe some financial barriers should be removed so this can happen organically rather them relying on questionable cash. Btw, genuinely interested by this conversation, challenging some of my long held views regarding Morecambe, Fleetwood, fgr, Rushden and diamonds, etc. that maybe one been wrong on. I guess you see Crawley similar to what I see in Solihull, Bromley, Sutton, Forest Green. Ie too small (without funding) to ever challenge to get into the FL. I'd agree about Crawley. I can see far more clubs doing a 'Rushden' in future years, that is why i say they bring nothing or very little to the FL. Basically too many clubs with foundations built on sand.

Hoping the National League just do the right thing and order the clubs by size of gate next season and promote the two highest accordingly, saving the need for any football to be played. Happy to see new clubs with smaller fanbases getting in the league but I don't want too many Crawleys. Arent Crawley just such a club that you say you dont want. Or is there something about them I'm not aware of?

They say that the Championship play off final is one of the biggest and most lucrative in World football but for me the National League final is the biggest especially when it is between two clubs who have never experienced league football before. What a great prospect for the supporters and the people behind the scenes many of whom will have been volunteers for many many years. Proper football. So who are we backing? Surely Solihull Moors, as it's a much easier place to travel to if we draw them in a Cup game? Dont give a stuff tbh. Doubt either will be a FL side in 10 years time, or less

Taylor Perry didn't sign for us straight away, he was on trial for a number of weeks at least so they did get a good look at him before offering him a deal. And they still offered him a deal - beggars belief doesnt it.

So you two can't see the difference it might make to a person's desicion to leave the DofF role at a club and take up any DofF offer back with your old club when the fan's attitude of the club you gave 5 years service to is along the lines of '"Hearing rumours we might be about to appoint a Director of Football and it's a face we all know. Unsure how that fits with keep Clarke for next season but I believe he worked with one at Port Vale and Bristol Rovers. Hopefully a bit of positive news on a really low day for the club" (Copied off Robins nest forum !!)' Whereas the attitude of the fans at a club you've been less than a year at is along the lines of: Good, I'll give him a lift back. Somewhat off topic? The rumour isn't that Mr Moore wants out, it's that his old club want him back. Let's not deny Cheltenham their goal please Roland.

There'll be a new name in the EFL next season. The National League Play Off Final is between Bromley and Solihull Moors. Neither of which will bring much more to the FL than Sutton or FGR imo.

One of Pierre’s biggest issues over the last few years seems to be fitness/ possibly carrying too much extra weight. If there’s one man who could whip him into shape with a full preseason it’s Hurst. There’s no doubt Pierre has the defensive attributes I'm sure Aaron will "enjoy" the pre season schedule 🙄

Slightly surprised with the state of the finances that it was not more draconian ? It hasnt yet been anounced that Micky Moore is back off to Cheltenham so his (no doubt) significant wages will be saved as well as the players leaving.

Was never in doubt in my mind in the run in. Would have been surprised to have dropped into the bottom four.
Not because of anything we did, but at least four, if not more, teams were utterly appalling. 45 points to avoid relegation says it all.
