Forget about price... That ain't happening.... rossiter ideal in that position Do agree but he is a Shrewsbury lad with a big injury record and next to no football over the last 2 years. He might not have a lot of takers and havent heard any rumours about him all summer. Really needs to play it he wants to continue his career. Could there be a chance he comes back if he fails to get fixed up elsewhere. Probably wrong but who knows! I would say your last sentence is probably correct. 👍

Guess Paul Hursts job is pretty safe wherever we are in the table.
If we are struggling it will be due to lack of money, and we are planning for the future (DoF model).

all responses as expected, see you in September Very unlikely that we will be meeting in September. International call ups likely to mean a date change. Are we likely to have 3 call ups? Doubtful. What about Wrexham, dont know enough about their squad to say?

I wouldn't call it defeatist, just being a realist. I guess they have to have a certain amount of people in to make money. Perhaps with how tight things are its just not something that they can risk. So when you say "if it doesn't then I'll accept it", for example, perhaps the club just isn't in a position to risk money and lose out if it doesn't. Dunno but maybe. Regarding taking a risk, I mentioned earlier that I was proposing to hold a pub quiz, I was asked how many people would attend, I couldn't guarantee numbers but was expecting 30 as a minimum, I was told that wasn't sufficient to open up. Perhaps I'm a bit naive but I would have thought that the costs of opening up for a few hours would be met by 30+people in attendance, instead the place would have remained closed (and actually in the end, I had closer to 70 people turn up). As I repeatedly say, it seems all very short-sighted, reactive and done with the minimal of effort. I do sympathise a little but two points to consider here. 1) In the case of pubs there us usually the landlord (& possibly family) that are living on site so there is no cost involved in being open. In the case of the club they would need to pay a few people to come along, open up and serve behind the bar so there is a cost to consider just opening up. And 2) I have heard that there are quite a few who go round pub quizzes on a regular basis that are there just for the quiz, not a good social with drinks. So they sit around all night and have just 1 drink, make it last all night and move on to the next quiz at another pub the next night. These people dont spend very much at all (heard this from a friend who runs a weekly pub quiz). Not everyone is like this of course but if you get 30 people you may well get maybe 10 who dont drink, or dont drink very much (driving will be an issue too).

Good on the original post, personally glad the rivalry is back on and may be in the minority but wouldn't necessarily want Wrexham to be relegated - enjoy the Derby Games twice a Year as long as it doesn't get too nasty. 'Wouldnt want Wrexham to be relegated' ... I wouldnt be that generous.

When the season starts he will be a new player with a new job in a new team....his role will be clearly defined by Hurst and Doig. Give the lad a chance ffs. A chance? Didn't he have all last season?, I'd say that's ample time for folk to pass judgement Dont think many looked up to much last season. See what he is like with a pre season under a decent coach before writing him off.

I don’t agree that players cannot answer back. They can can on the field be it match day or training. The other major point is about players with talent or without. There are a quite a few out there who no not think Price is worth the time of day. There is no question that he has midfield talent. But the problem with him it appears is fitness or the desire to put a shift in. In terms of talent, Taylor Perry cannot go anywhere near him. Either I’ve had my head in the sand but it’s all gone quiet on his status. Please feel free to update me. Price is quite a different arguement. Think most of us would love a fully fit Price in the team. Would be a big asset. The issue is the huge question on his fitness and the wage he would undoubtedly be on.

Guess he is going to be the new Fall Guy, the one fans love to blame for everything wrong with the club. (Is the pigeon s**t all down to him?)
Weve always had one over recent years, just that last year we had half a team of them.
Give him a few weeks of the season with Hurst in charge to see if he improves eh? If he doesnt improve expect him to go out on loan in January.
But the size of the squad would suggest we may have to use him when we get a few injuries.

Great signing in my opinion. Also interesting how much the leaks from the club have tightened up over recent years, as not a single poster here can legitimately claim they saw this coming. I saw his name doing the rounds nearly 2 weeks ago on Twitter. I seem to have seen his name doing the rounds in these parts for longer than that tbh.

Now into the 3rd Qualifying Rounds of the Euros.
TNS gave themselves a decent chance to go through in the Europa League, losing by just 1-0 (an og) to Petrocub in Moldova.
And Rangers were heading for a 1-0 defeat as well in Poland against Dynamo Kyev but got a very late injury time equaliser in the Champions League qualifier. Gives them a good chance to win at home next week.
On Thursday it's the turn of Shamrock Rovers, Larne, Kilmarnock and St Mirren to see what they can do.

Lots of For and against being discussed here.
But without a doubt we are missing a fair revenue stream by not maximising the opportunities available with the bar and catering facilities.
But it would need much more forward thinking to do a good job than we are currently doing.

Would Cotterill have been 'paid off' on the condition that he doesn't talk? Yes very likely.

I think that they are hoping to get another in this week. Unsure if that's a loan. Assuming Nolan and Olayinka can be signed at any time after the window. Yes pretty sure you can sign non contract players at any time. So no rush to sign Nolan until we are sure he can be worth signing.

Going forward to the 1930s my Dad played for Cocks Tannery, the tannery was on Barker Street. I have a photo of him in their stylish halved shirts - Blackburn Rovers style. After the war he played for Wem White Star and Shrewsbury Amateurs. I have a team photo of one of those teams, I don’t know which, posing at Gay Meadow before an amateur cup final. If I knew how to add photos I’d share them. Not easy adding photos on here, not sure why (or how). Much easier on Facebook of course.

Regarding the pigeon muck I spoke to someone ITK and they reckon part of the problem is that the club feed the pigeons and they sometimes feed the sparrows too. Apparently it gives them a sense of enormous wellbeing. Would be good to find out if there is any truth to this given the problems it’s causing. Come on. This is a professional football club here, you should know it's not Parklife. 👍

I don't think there's much between the 2 keepers ATM...young needs to take all the information given to him,and work hard, his kicking and passing out, looked ok to me....Savin needs to get over the first 2/3 games, and get his confidence up....looks a bit tentative to me And NOT look on B&A if we want to get his confidence back.

My view is change the roundabout on the Battlefield to the A5 road, put the A5 up to near motorway standard and you can manage without the NWRR. Less environmental damage, less pollution. You have a new MP against the NWRR, you have a traffic problem. Has anyone asked her what her favoured solution would be? "At the hustings, Labour's Julia Buckley said the £54m of government money secured in 2019 should be spent widening roundabouts and providing free electric buses" www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp008q0zdg4o'Widening roundabouts' Bloody brilliant idea - NOT. Can you actually add yet more lanes to Emstrey island.....

As mentioned above Caernarfon lost 5-0 at home (well at Bangor) to Legia Warsaw 11-0 on aggregate. Ouch.
In other games St Patrick's drew 2-2 in Vaduz, Lichtenstein to progress 5-3.
Shelbourne could only draw 0-0 at home to FC Zurich to go out 3-0
Kilmarnock went down 1-0 ( 2-1 agg) at Cercle Brugge. As that was in the Europa league they drop down to the Conference League next week.
St Mirren progressed 4-1 at home to Valur of Iceland (4-1 agg). Our Roland played the first 89 mins.
And last night Cliftonville went down 2-0 (4-1 agg) at Auda of Latvia.
Think St Patricks and St Mirren are the only clubs still in ahead of other higher ranked clubs from England and Scotland joining in next week.

One thing I was pleased to hear Moore talk about was the academy, and how it hasn't been performing. He was right to say that the jump between U18 and a League One first team is too steep, particularly given we're a Cat 3 academy. It wasn't the focus of Moore's answer, but he briefly said that the U18s were getting released, and not attracting much interest because they'd never played men's (or any, given limited academy fixtures) football. It's one of the big reasons why we need to address this issue. Yes, most won't make it - but at least we can set them up for decent non league careers, rather than letting them drift into the lower Welsh tiers. The structure Moore spoke about - loaning players out at various non league tiers from 16/17 years old onwards - is definitely one that can work for us. And we're well placed geographically to do so - there's non league/Welsh clubs at a range of levels nearby. I just hope that it's implemented quickly: we've got a few talented youngsters like Loughran about, so let's give them every chance of success. Following up on this, academy player Jeval Thompson McKenzie has signed for Romulus FC (step 9, Midland Premier Division) on loan. Will be interesting to see where others end up. Hopefully this goes well for him That's a bit of a low level surely? Wouldnt the level of Brackley or Telford be more like the level he needs to be at?
