A sobering, humbling and depressing evening for our club
A rudderless mess off the pitch, and a total shambles on it. A seriously low home crowd, and those who bothered to go a mainly filled with apathy and acceptance
Audible Roland out chants tonight, long over due in my opinion, and until he finally sells, they should continue (don’t forget we were promised investment since the 2014 statutory accounts). 10 years of broken promises has led to this
Hurst - seems totally devoid of any tactical ideas to change a game, and doesn’t seem overly interested. Important point he’s dealing with a league 2 budget…
Lowest point at this club in 21 years in my opinion. Very sad to see

The apathy is settling in. Fans are staying away and those that do go have little belief. Record season ticket sales show the loyalty to the club but how many of those are already regretting the decision?
This season feels like a complete write-off and a complete waste of time, the real question is will it get even worse next year?

It is very sad and you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. From game one at Stevenage you could see the apathy on people's faces the second Stevenage missed that penalty. All this season's signings are league two standard at best and that's pushing it. What's worrying is even Hurst has lost his confidence. Remember the bold substitutions he used to make? All gone. That's bound to rub off on the players.

Pilch I think we can all see the club is stagnating I accept that the chairman wants to sell and hope he does soon as I think most fans do Many of the fans wanted Hurst but only the chairman appointed him

Wycherley was in contact with Hurst for weeks, months even before Taylor was sacked, it was footballs worst kept secret.
And then when Hurst was appointed, Moore claimed it was as the result of a thorough recruitment process that led him to recommend Paul Hurst to the chairman.
But we’ll keep believing the fans appointed him - the reality is it all came from the top…
And yes Hurst isn’t immune to criticism - he’s every bit as shambolic as all other areas of the club currently are.

This is the worst time under RW's reign for sure. I'm genuinely sad that we'll send him off in these dire circumstances. He deserves better but he has no one to blame but himself.
The idea that Hurst would waltz in and carry on where he left off was frankly insane. Anyone paying the vaguest attention to his work since he left here would have known what the predictable outcome would be. No one believes for a second that Moore brought in Hurst. Wouldn't even have been anywhere near his shortlist.
The horrific state of the squad and the abysmal recruitment over the summer pretty much ties the hands of PH's replacement. He'd be reliant on getting the best out whatever talent we have.
Lets hope RW doesn't dig his heels in and sticks it out with the current management team. We know that RW won't move on for quite some time yet but we need to progress on the pitch. PH has failed. His time is up.

He doesn’t formally engage with fans. When has he ever listened to fans? And more fool him if he actually does pick managers based on message boards and social media. The truth is he brought Hurst back because he wanted to and had wanted to for years.

I never wanted Hurst back. I could never understand the clamour. Found it a bit child like and pathetic really. Lightning doesn’t strike twice and he’d done pretty crap since leaving us first time
People will have their own opinion on who to blame for the club being in this mess, I don’t have an issue saying I hold the Chairman, as owner of this club, wholly and totally responsible, he obviously hasn’t done this deliberately and I’m sorry for someone who was such a good owner for 20 years, it’s ending so sour like this, but he has to own the failures, like he’s owned successes over the years
We’ve barely had anything to shout about for 6 years now, and a lack of investment and a failure to keep up with modern football is coming home to roost.
It’s no wonder the home ends were 2/3rds empty, with a terrible atmosphere devoid of any passion or hope

Whatever way you look at our club it's not very good is it. Especially on the pitch so who carries the blame ? I know where I put it. Team manager and coaches. My thoughts and opinion I don't expect many will agree. No sleep lost here.

Can't help but think that the 5600 dead attendance figure was simply plucked out the sky. Felt a lot less to me. Seen the Wycherley stand busier than that for a pre-season friendly.
Normally at this stage hope springs eternal that maybe a change of management or direction can rescue us from the position we're in but we all know that isn't happening this season.
Oh well, at least we'll get to see the club accounts a few months early so we can rest assured that getting battered from one week to the next isn't completely in vain.

Lowest point at this club in 21 years Since the summer of 2018 we have had new low, after new low, after new low...Askey shocking. Rickettsball. Cotterill overspent and anti-football. Taylor shocking. Hurst mk2...shocking record so far. Surely this downward slope, of 6 long years so far, has to start turning upward. Whether the answer is L2 or a change at the top or whatever. I'm at the stage now where I don't want us to stay up. Because next year it will be the same again. We have scraped so many times to stay in this league, we don't belong here. L2 is our level. Prove me wrong Town.

Prove me wrong Town. I said something similar recently. It's mettle fatigue. You can't exist to survive year on year and season upon season of struggle without it eventually taking you under. Going down this season won't be off the back of one poor season but years of mismanagement and bad decisions. Some would say we've done well for 10 seasons at this level but I'd have swapped a few of those years for equal relegation and promotions if it occasionally gave us something to cheer about and was a break from the inevitable endless struggle.

I couldn't go this evening due to working away this week but I could watch the second half on TV.
But I watched the Arsenal game instead.
Apathy is a killer. I do care. But the whole thing is stuck in a weird limbo.
We got a decent manager but we decimated the squad.
There are at least two tiers above Hurst that are a bigger problem than he is.
He's a boring lower grafter, true. He probably can't keep us up and resigning Nsiala has been a disaster. If that means he needs to go now then so be it, but come the summer we'll be looking for someone like Paul Hurst.

exactly and at a stadium only fit for knocking down with average gates of 4000 or a lot less, the guy has literally taken us as far as he can since then, almost won the jackpot once, so near yet so far, but has now had enough and doing his damned best to find us a perfect fit to take over whilst still trying to keep the club stable at the same time maybe he should sell to the first rogue that comes along, at least the moaners can blame Roland for selling to the wrong person #town lost tonight teddies out of cot time ;-)

They care about the steady decline of OUR club under Roland. There’s been no proper promised investment, no ambition to succeed, a string of poor appointments, a ridiculous Director of Football model brought in (the incumbent being half the problem), culminating in 2024 with a less than L1 standard squad, with little fight, little leadership and a Head Coach and coaching team that aren’t correcting the problems on the field I’d say people paying their 20 odd quid are more than entitled to throw a teddy or anything else. Personally, I’m glad that the apathy of watching us plummet to L2 has been taken over by anger at the situation.

As I keep saying, the managers we get are people that the chairman likes, it's going **** all to do with what the fans I'm personally in the camp that Hurst needs to be questioned and his job should be under threat but I also blame Roland for appointing him in the first place. An appointment made based on nostalgia only.

With a takeover allegedly close I can't see Hurst going anywhere, Roland is unlikely to want additional expenditure and any new owner would not want a new management team coming in now.
But I can completely understand why some are suggesting Hurst needs to go, we've won 5 under 27 under him, he's making some strange tactical decisions and with two of our better players (Shipley & TOR) struggling for games you wonder how he is managing these players.
7 defeats in 9 games is not a blip, it's a reflection of what a poor side he and Moore have assembled, combined with some poor tactics. I've resigned myself to relegation, I just hope that we can pick up some points and make it slightly respectable

No idea why a separate thread needs to be made.
We know where we are, what we are and what needs to happen. Just got to be patient and hope for the best.

No idea why a separate thread needs to be made. We know where we are, what we are and what needs to happen. Just got to be patient and hope for the best. We need many more of these threads at this moment in time. I'm stunned at the level of grim acceptance amongst our support. A few gripes nailed on to the end a match thread just won't do. The club does pay attention. At the moment they do not need to act as there is no real groundswell for change. Voices need to heard. It's clear that ownership will change but this won't happen most likely until the summer. If we have any chance of staying in L1 action needs to be taken immediately and the current manager who has an abysmal win rate of 16% needs to be firmly escorted from the premises.
