Excellent 20mins from him, Just what we've needed all season. He's a natural captain and it was very noticeable how he was organising players the moment he came on and until the end. He will be a great help and influence for the younger players especially. I'm already looking forward to next season in League 1 under Manager Hurst and Captain Price

Hopefully it's him & Winchester sitting next season in a 4-2-3-1.
That would be a classy couple of CDMs.

Will he, won't he? Rather pleased he did. I must admit I had no idea who he was until I dipped into this thread but it looks to be working out well. Local lad wants to return, wants to be here, scores, grabs us a point and I think we all saw what it meant to him with the celebrations. It brings a smile to the face, its a great "good news" story and very much a welcome tonic considering how the season has gone. Good stuff.

I honestly can't see how we'll be able to afford him.
That said perhaps he's earned his money in the USA and now he wants to settle down and for grandparents to help with his kids etc.

If we can offer him a deal that includes him doing his coaching badges and maybe be involved in the academy I am sure he would take a modest wage. As quality as he has been since he arrived he is the wrong side of 30 and there are still big questions over his fitness levels going forward. It will have to come down to the whether he wants to be here or not as he should not be one of our top earners.

From the early sights, for me he’s like an upgraded Elliott Bennett in that his legs have to an extent gone but his experience and technical ability means he still offers something.
He’s the only player in the team yesterday that could’ve controlled and scored that volley yesterday.

I suspect with with a lot of the high earners moved on in the summer, Roland will be find the funds to make Price a decent offer, if he wants to stay. Which I’m hearing is the case, but obviously that could change if someone comes in for him in the summer and offers him £6k a week

On the ball he offers a heck of lot, but Oxford we’re skipping around him with ease.

I mean just looking to his age, the career he has had, what he has said about playing for us. If Hurst wants him I think there is a very good chance he will stay.

Price hasn't played proper regular football for quite a while and after a really long spell out has so far played 2 games for town, coming on for the last 20 mins, as he clearly hasnt got the fitness to last longer. To get a decent contract I think he has to show he can last at least 70 mins in games on a regular basis really

Think any deal would have to be appearance based for me. Big injury related issues would be my big worry with him. Cant afford to pay him a good wage and have him him out injured much of the time.

Given our financial position, we are going to have spend our playing budget even more wisely this summer. If he does stay with us, I hope we don't break the bank to keep him.

Whatever happens in the future with him, I will enjoy watching him, who knows how valuable that goal will be at the end of the season, he certainly helps organise our midfield which was really lacking till he came on, as someone else pointed out he was too easily beaten a few times , how much of that is due to his concerns about not picking up and injury who knows but even with that there are a lot of positives.

He's had 5 separate injuries in the last 2 years, the last of which kept him out for over a year. It's his job now to prove that his body can recover from them all I guess. Not to say he can't, but can't see many clubs giving him a good contract unless he can show that he can

Its worrying that he's injury prone but having said that if it was between Price and Max Mata's wages I know who I'd pick and It's not the Kiwi.

Another question about Price’s future with us (or not) is where he fits into the Hurst type of team. Jack’s involvement with us this season pre-dates Hurst’s arrival. When he became fit enough to play, he was obviously going to be offered the short term deal as we weren’t exactly blessed with quality and experience in the squad.
As for the future though, I am far from sure that PH would accommodate a player of his type. In 2017-18 our midfield players were quick and combative, capable of outrunning opponents for 100 minutes. For all his qualities, Jack doesn’t fit that mould.
