Think any deal would have to be appearance based for me. Big injury related issues would be my big worry with him. Cant afford to pay him a good wage and have him him out injured much of the time. Mr Moore will sort it. Heaven help us if he sorts it like he did this season.

Another question about Price’s future with us (or not) is where he fits into the Hurst type of team. Jack’s involvement with us this season pre-dates Hurst’s arrival. When he became fit enough to play, he was obviously going to be offered the short term deal as we weren’t exactly blessed with quality and experience in the squad. As for the future though, I am far from sure that PH would accommodate a player of his type. In 2017-18 our midfield players were quick and combative, capable of outrunning opponents for 100 minutes. For all his qualities, Jack doesn’t fit that mould. I'd have price in the Nolan role easy.

Price said on the podcast that he’s very much a holding midfielder and isn’t suited to playing further forward

Yep....be easier for him there......some posters said he looked a bit slow, and opposition players were getting round him easy......well he looked pretty fast to me when he celebrated his goal!!!👍😳😉

Paul Scholes was in the crowd Friday with his Salford scout. Not often I'm sure that he misses a Salford home game. If anyone knows a good midfielder it's him. Just putting two and two together and making five but the sooner we can tie Price down on a decent contract the better.

I have been told that Price won't sign for us because we are "going to be relegated".

To be fair, I wouldn’t even take him now anyway. We’ve got plenty of decent options in midfield.

It is a pity how things ended, whilst he was injury prone. I think with his experience he could have joined the coaching staff , if he had the relevant qualifications or found some way of passing on his knowledge whilst getting the coaching badges .

In a way it’s a positive he hasn’t gone and signed elsewhere. It almost suggests Hurst was right to avoid him due to injury/fitness issues.
A fit Jack Price is playing for the likes of Wrexham or Birmingham at this stage of his career after his success in the MLS

Sorry Jack but we need someone who can play for more than 20 minutes every other week.

It is a pity that any professional players career has to end due to injury.

I think it’s a decision he’ll potentially regret. Unless of course he’d had enough and/or fell out of love with the game after he was treated ‘poorly’ by us. He certainly sounded keen on In The Stiffs.

He certainly sounded keen on In The Stiffs. But has he been treated badly by us? The fact he’s not playing for another club at any level sort of tells you he can’t. We were suggesting a championship club would snap him up, no one has.

I'd still sign him now. Head a shoulders ahead of everyone else in the squad even when 30% fit.

Rightly or wrongly is up for interpretation I suppose. Difficult to tell in modern day football as players earn so much they don’t have to drop through the leagues. Also maybe he saw so many crocked players in last seasons squad he took exception. Remember the story of the Shop being given a pass on the medical because they just wanted him in the building? You can’t have one medical or fitness process for one, and another for someone else.

I might have mentioned it before (possibly on this thread) but no one knows what has gone on.
It could be that we said to Jack, train with us for 3 months and we will give you a contract, only to then say "actually can you come back and do another trial for free over the summer", if that was the case then probably got fed up and told us where to and maybe got disillusioned with football so decided to knock it on the head
Alternatively, it could of could of course be that he was never fully fit and the club decided he wasn't worth the risk which would be understandable, although ironic considering some of the players we've signed
It's a shame as you could tell he was one of those players who commanded respect and demanded high standard
