some are unrealistic most of the time though, 3 points from trips to Reading & Lincoln was a massive positive, some spat their dummies out the second Reading made it 2-2 on saturday, they said nothing when we were winning, and its not a one off its embarrassing really There was a grand total of four posts in between Reading equalising and us re-taking the lead, hardly dummies out just some frustration. And Pughy and Valerioch both posted when we were winning too, so is your generalisation of fans aimed at one specific?… Well we’ve blown that ffs Goal out of nothing but our own fault for sitting so deep and playing it long at every opportunity. Poor game management from town. Hopefully we will start playing again now. bugger only see one team winning this What are we doing? You go 2 up in 5 minutes then it's the Sunday league stuff, keep it tight, see it out to HT, organise and go again. Don't let common sense get in the way of an agenda! I forgot to congratulate town after Reading, as did about 6,000 other members, obviously I was singled out. Wednesday I congratulated town on their result at Lincoln and it got moved to off topic, feels as though talking about the result, in Lincoln, on the Lincoln thread would be very much on topic?

I think (and hope) Moore will be relieved of his duties in summer, and Hurst will be able to focus on being a Manager of this football club.
Yet more money spunked on naff appointments... meanwhile ticket prices continue to rise to compensate

But the "vultures" are circling on the basis that the recruitment thus far hasn't been satisfactory, MT has gone because he wasn't performing, and he wasn't given a year. This is football, we're football fans, if it isn't working straight away, we all question if it's the right route....especially on forums such as this which is kinda the point of the place....to discuss thoughts on how things are going. It's the relentless nature of it. Thread after thread, post after post. I got the point being made hundreds of posts ago.
First rule of working in football, never read social media comments, if you did then you would surely be found on the railway line behind the ground. I assume most of the comments are from people who don't have to face such a barrage in their jobs?
Curious you've posted a message on a football forum to moan about the amount of messages on a football forum.

"We are football fans, we comment on the situation of the club when we've just put in an uncceptable performance to leave us just above the relegation zone". Admittedly, not as catchy as yours some are unrealistic most of the time though, 3 points from trips to Reading & Lincoln was a massive positive, some spat their dummies out the second Reading made it 2-2 on saturday, they said nothing when we were winning, and its not a one off its embarrassing really I've found it safest to say nothing whatsoever for fear of being shot down in flames.

Think this thread may be deteriorating a smidgelet in some areas.
Back to Martinshrew's adult conversation for a moment.
If we assume for the sake of argument that we were paying about 19 senior pros last year, and the budget was blown by say 60%, for a round number, then if we were back on budget this year, having kept 11 senior pros, (assuming they are all paid the same) MM would have had to bring in all the new players for 13.2% of the budget. Lots of assumptions in there I know but it comes back to the same thing whichever one of those figures you tweak:
Percentage Available budget = (Budget-(11/19*150%*Budget))/Budget
Using that formula if the overspend were only 20% last year then he had 30.6% to play with this year, if overspend 60% of budget then he had 7.3% to play with.
So whichever way you cut it, because many players stayed on contract, the amount he had available to use was seriously low if we were back on budget.
Think that is enough maths for one day :-)
If that is all vaguely correct, then logically we cannot have gauged what he can do with a full budget as he is yet to have the chance.
Personally I think Benning, Feeney, Pierre, Sraha, Sobowale, Perry are doing well or OK, some got injured (mainly loan players) and other players have not yet had the time to improve as others on this forum have suggested they need.
However I fully accept that Football is not a patient arena and our results in the short term are what matters most so that dictates everything.
Very very difficult game saturday having watched us at their place...

Below are the quotes from our manager on our official website, if he's saying that then is it any surprise that fans are complaining? "We were second best from start to finish" "I feel sorry for the fans that travelled" "That is the type of performance for me that is unacceptable" "A kind of tough night but I'm almost embarrassed" Exactly. Yet we seem to have these conversations again and again. It's bizarre. Granted I don't recall everything posted on the match threads but just looking to a recent example, I'm pretty sure the general vibe on here after the loss to Wigan was that we'd played OK, we were unlucky not to score and unlucky not to get a point. We lost but we gave them a game. So its not a case of us thinking we ought to be winning every game. But we do expect a certain level of performance from a professional side and we didn't get that at Lincoln, anything but. As Hurst made clear himself. That had nothing to do with fans being unrealistic.

Rating the signings this season, I go with the below:
Feeney and Benning are doing reasonable well in positions that they are not used to.
Feeney a centre half that's been forced mostly to play at right back and right wing back, he does a lot of covering for Dunkley and Pierre that goes unnoticed.
Benning - I'd say is the most improved (not necessarily the best) is an out and out left back - who also has been forced to play wing back and even winger. he's limited as well but puts in a decent shift now.
The rest are poor, Bennett and Winchester are technically Cotterill signings - although Bennett is coming fast to the end of the road. Pierre should be a Ricketts signing and I think he's limited as well.
Sraha is injury prone, Perry very inconsistent. The League of Ireland boys are well off the pace and the loan signing are scrapping the bottom of the barrel unlike Loanees of previous seasons.
It all sounds a bit 'Moneyball' type of signings as opposed to finding the pedigree and character that someone like a Cotterill or a Hurst would go for. I suspect the Ireland boys have hit the stats that someone likes and hence the three year deal for someone like Mata, its absolute lunacy and a low point for the club.
But that's just what I think.

Pretty much spot on. Whoever (well we know who) thought paying money and giving such long contracts to the players from Ireland was sensible has some serious explaining to do, and to waste the loan spots in such a way is an act of flagrant self-harm. I just hope we get through this season without relegation, and can write some wrongs in the summer.

Regrettably, parts of this thread have decended into a little bit of tit for tat, I am partly responsible for chipping back at what I thought were pointless quips, so for that I do apologise, as I just wanted it to be a half decent thread to suss out opinion.
Hands up! ✋️
Thanks to those who have contributed in the way we should be though!
Opinions are great, let's focus on what they are in respect of the thread title

Sometimes I despair of this board. It is a football board Read most football boards there is joy when the team wins ,sometimes a lot less positive reaction when the team loses and plays poorly I do think it is not unreasonable to question the new structure on a message board and question RW MM and the signings. It has not so far produced results It has cost the club money My guess is a lot of money In the same way that every manager has been questioned SC,JA,MT ,SR etc etc etc equally I have no problem people thinking everything is good .I just dont agree

And to reiterate, I would still be delighted if we finish 20th but that will be out of relief and not out of any feelings of success. Probably won’t bite an arm though, I like my food but cannabalism isn’t for me.

Course they are, I've thought all along that the DoF/Head Coach structure wasn't one that we should follow, and I was vocal about it on social media, my mind hasn't changed. Your argument was that its early doors, and it is, I don't really disagree with that, it's a very valid point, however, in my opinion it isn't working. I'll give a really poor analogy here, but if you go our for a meal, and the first few mouthfuls aren't to your liking....you'd chicken is a little raw, and your potato's are lumpy... how long would you persevere with the meal before you say to the other person on the table "This is a bit s**t, init? Poor analogy I know, but I hope you get the jist 😂😂

B&A is rapidly turning into Boardroom& Amber by the day. New years resolutions apparently, laughable 😂 all new years resolution crash out about jan 4th, you just carry on sniping, its all you do how long did you last before reverting to type ?, ( less than 12 hours before you were attacking the board with snipes ) is this a one way thing is it ? do you want me to list all the grudge posts you've made too ? I might have done a few myself but boy you have pages of them hers a daft idea No Cotterill fishing No Ricketts fishing No current STFC abuse or snipesand certainly no posts fishing for any of the likes of the above; constructive criticism perfectly ok, no hypocritical posts no grudges no harassment of any B&A members ( PLEASE ) no singling anyone out, jeez im good at that too if I want to be, but there are no winners ive got a horrible audio to post from yesterday, I'm willing to shelve that if we get a decent response to this, and im itching to post it if we have a problem with someone maybe we can message them and give our feelings and try to sort it out amicably lets be united ;-) feel free to suggest more who's in ? I'm happy to engage with moving forwards on the board and making it a better place. B&A desperately needs a reset, hopefully tonight is it 👍 Serious question. We signed Max Mata from Sligo Rovers . He had no previous League 1 experience but was expected to come in and score goals for us . To date he has scored 1 in the League. Probably not all his fault because the service hasn’t been great . We sent young Bloxham out on loan to Morecambe. He has had League 1 experience and whilst Mata was obviously seen as having potential Taylor and his staff continuing to work with Tom could realise his potential too. Do you think it would have been more beneficial to the club / team to save the fee paid for Mata and to persevere with young Tom Bloxham or have we missed that boat .We now have another player from the PLI I think hoping to be included in the match day squad against Wrexham. Basically we have spent money on a gamble with an unknown commodity whilst ignoring what we already had , who, with perseverance could have saved us a few quid and scored a few goals in return . As I said , just me thinking out loud really or am I wide of the mark ? I don't understand the Bloxham love in, he's never going to be League One standard. He's barely done anything at Morecambe in the division below, why would he step back up to League One and do anything? I make it 23 league games, no goals. I've said stick with Taylor, because he's not the problem. The win today was much needed, next week a win would be much appreciated and would give Taylor a lot of credit in the bank.

I think people expect too much with signings, Mata could be like vloxham let him get some game time and see how he does, subo looks a cracking player to me under Hurst he could thrive think a mix of Hurst and moore could work in the transfer market
