Currently rocking down at New Road 201-0 off 28 221-0 off 30 (48 over match) v. Middlesex Worcs 371/3 Middlesex 188 all out. And that's with only 5 1st team players in the side and the entire bowling attack only having 9 List A wickets between them - all to Ethan Brookes. Middlesex looked a mess though. Durham will surely provide a sterner test.

"England can still rack up a huge total against West Indies at Edgbaston despite losing late wickets on day one of the third Test, according to Chris Woakes". www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/ce58j6yyen6oBit of over confidence I think Mr Woakes!

Couldn't read the article as you have to sign up to their app. I've read several articles in recent years that have highlighted the W Indies demise and have pointed to many young cricketers going to the States on scholarships to play professional baseball. Watching this series it appears that this situation is really coming to fruition as this Windies team hardly threatened or competed in all 3 matches Sorry if this sounds harsh but it was how I saw it

I do understand the concerns of cricket in the West Indies and test cricket as a whole but I do find the attitude to us easing to a comfortable win fascinating. We have often got whitewashed (or blackwashed!) and I can't imagine too many Aussies or Windies fans who were concerned about the future of the game in England, but when we do it to someone then some people in England will say they want more competitive games, etc. But there is of course a genuine concern about the state of test cricket and I think there is a responsibility on us, India and Australia to support the other nations. However, this has been the case for a long time now

I’m reticent to criticise the West Indies too much, given we have only won 1 or 2 Test series in the Caribbean in 50 odd years - the home advantage in cricket is massive

People and the article tend to forget that virtually the same West Indies team drew a series with a full strength Australian team with only one warm up game. More than we have done in a number of years.

Meanwhile, down at New Road a very young and inexperienced England Lions are proving a tough test for the visiting Sri Lankans.

A magnificent win for Somerset in the Metro Bank s/f. All this with a squad which lost 12 players to the Hundred irrelevance. Well done also to Glamorgan who will be the opponents on 22nd September.
What a shame the ECB downgraded the final to Trent Bridge. No disrespect to Nottingham but it can never compare with a trip to the home of cricket. Imagine the FA Cup Final at the City Ground!

Spirited stuff from WCCC in the one day Cup, hopefully carry that forward into the main business, staying in Division One, starting Thursday with a game against Kent.
Come on you Pears

Good to see us going with the extra bowler rather than batter imo Weather forecast doesn’t look great for Manchester mind (standard)

I was planning to go on the Sunday.

Jamie Smith, what a find for England.
A bold selection that is certainly paying off.

Seems fitting that Jamie Smith of Surrey gets a century and England captained by Ollie Pope of Surrey, perhaps Graham Thorpe is looking down on them.

I see rain stopped play at Old Trafford, I live about 6 miles away and there’s been no rain here today.

Terrible captaincy today with some wierd field placings and poor bowling.
In serious danger of loosing this test match.
Oh and the commentary team are the weakest I can ever remember....ever.

Excellent win for Worcs.
They are now above Warwickshire, Notts, Lancs and Kent in the table, with the bottom 2 to be relegated.
