Came back through the village of Forden in Powys at 20mph yesterday. I think it's home to about 20 people and a couple of dogs. Apart from a car repair garage and what I'm told is a very good Indian restaurant, there doesn't seem to be anyfing else there. I suppose on the plus side, with it being that quiet we didn't get passed by any pedestrians.

The Cock is the name of the Indian in Forden JT (our prolific moderator removed my previous post as he deemed it offensive) :-)

Coincidentally I was in Forden on Sunday (population 2459) for the annual Classic Car and Bike show-was talking about it to the locals who seemed in full support and even relieved. Oh BTW you forgot to mention the primary school, Village Hall, Bowling club et al…. Did it do you any harm travelling at 20? I’m just wondering why the English are more concerned than those that live there? Ive just driven to Tywyn today and yes you have to go slower through villages and small towns but it didn’t take me any longer than usual.

Even the A483 has been restricted to 50 m.p.h by the Senedd on the other side of Wrexham because of 'environmental issues'.
Yet this entire stretch is flanked by trees and no houses, as is the rest of the road to Chester. The difference is that the English side is 70 m.p.h.

The Welsh Government's literature says that journeys will only take 1 minute longer, whilst conveniently airbrushing out that this will only apply if you travel 1 mile.

Unless you drive like a demented idiot on the faster roads to try and make up time. Which I guess plenty will do. Excess speed is much more a factor in collisions and injuries than doing 20 or 30 in a built up area. Not that Drakeford and cronies will understand.

Oh BTW you forgot to mention the primary school, Village Hall, Bowling club et al…. I should have made it clear I was talking about the main road. It didn't matter anyway, we didn't see an udder soul. I might go up at 3am in the morning and see if it's any busier. Dunno if it added any time on the journey I didn't really look. I had a hectic day in Manchester and fell asleep in the sitting position for part of the way back. The welsh villages are always quiet, it's on the way north in England it gets busy an hour or so south of Manchester. I'm always afraid of being late as the traffic can get very heavy. although I sometimes have to leave at 6 or 7, we hit the traffic there at the commute time. 20mph would be a blessing sometimes.

Don’t believe everything they say. It’s a bit like the overhead signs on motorways, slow you down to make the journey quicker…. Only 20 mph were in Welshpool high street, Lanfair Caerinion, Foel, and Aberganolwyn. Trewern and Llangadfan controlled by signs that only change to 20 at school times as before. Journey times always vary but no ‘noticeable’ difference. 20s plenty.

You mean this morning, this afternoon, and this evening. Cyclists used to be a pain overtaking up the inside of vehicles, least now they are overtaking on the correct side.

Do they impose 20mph going down toward Dolgellau because you can be doing a fair speed on the way down . Some may have to be standing on their brakes to reduce speed to 20mph.

Numbers signing the petition slowing down a little now. But just gone past 440,000. That is quite an amazing number who are against what has been introduced, way way more than any other petition before.
