Only if they go on to get game time. Be interested if any of the academy players on the bench have actually featured in any league games this season. Pathway, more like a cliff face! Who was the last to make it?

Who was the last to make it? SC stated in his interview he only had 2 outfield players on the bench. Basically none of them would have got on the pitch unless someone went off injured. Strange thing to do as this is the time where we could be giving them a few minutes.

I can just hear the interview now Dunny : Steve when you went down to 9 men due to injuries, you stayed with 9 men despite still having 4 young subs available ? Steve : Do you seriously think they would have made any difference ?

I don’t want to savage the lad because he’s young, homegrown, has had very few opportunities and was used in numerous different positions yesterday, but in a poor collective performance I think he might have been the worst of the lot.
At the moment I think he’s similar to Pyke in that he’s capable of making game-changing impacts off the bench but well short of the quality and influence to be a starter.
It does feel like he’s sort of stagnated over the last two years.

played out of position, again shocking treatment of a young player with huge potential He rarely does enough when he starts games but can sometimes add a spark when coming off the bench. The manager should be looking to play his strongest team from those available and for me that doesn’t currently include TB. Bowman, Saydee and Street should all be above him in the pecking order.

He was offered a new contract even though Turner did not like him!! On less money, hence leaving on a free……we cocked up if you remember…. We got compensation because he was still only 21 at the time. "The 21-year-old rejected the opportunity to remain in Shropshire, and after the two clubs agreed a compensation package, Saddlers boss Dean Smith is delighted to have strengthened his attack with the signing of the former Wales Under-21 international."

He had a really tough day yesterday. Didnt even look at SC when touching hands with him after his substitution.
He gets another year as a cheap 'product' of the academy?

It didn’t go to tribunal because we’d offered him a reduced contract even if he’s under 21 it has to be the same or higher. He could have walked away think Walsall felt sorry for us after our contract cock up. Something like that anyway, perhaps Pilch can check back?

Bloxham's biggest issue for me is that he appears to have little tactical awareness. At present he's not good enough technically to cover for this.
At the Bolton game my mate said Bloxham needed to come on at 2-1 down to inject some chaos into proceedings as he is so raw. His involvement helped to change that game. The problem comes when he starts and has to play particular roles. He doesn't seem to know where he should be. It was the Exeter game when he came on when the iFollow commentary went down and all you could hear was Cotterill telling him where he needed to be. Street starts ahead of him as he can follow the managers instructions, so he trusts him.
Am I right in saying that he didn't join the academy system until relatively late? If so it may account for this shortfall. He would definitely benefit from playing more regularly at a lower level

Saydee going off and Peterboro dominating meant he was made to go wide and play a more defensive role. As others have said he doesn't look to have the tactical awareness to play that role and he looked lost. He didn't seem able to keep hold of the ball or find a team mate, and struggling to do that in your own third of the pitch is going to cause issues. He is best with the ball at his feet driving forward but you need to know when to do that and have other options available.
It's a tough time in the season maybe but he just looks well off the pace for league 1 football. It's getting harder to embed youngsters in teams as town are consistently now in a good league that is getting better.
I think the small squad oddly hadn't benefitted him as he's seen as the best of the young players and so possible to come on, but still some way off the other senior players.
As others have said above, the time for a loan is way overdue. Have a pre season with the squad, get him fit and strong and working hard and then send him out in loan for 4/5 months and see what happens.

There’s a couple of hints here all in the tread when he left….. “ Walsall fan coming in peace. Thought I would do some research on our new signing Bradshaw. It seems that there are mixed reactions to his departure although I think we have got ourselves a bargain as I have heard on the grapevine that we got him on a free due to an admin error on his contract. I am sure our more refined style of football will suit Bradshaw rather than the hoof it up front style he is used to.”An El Huricain quote “ Well plenty of rumours about today on a potential contract mistake that cost us money that means although it was technically a fee it was no where near what it would have been without the mistake.... Think decimal place in wrong place. If the rumour is true, and I'm hearing it from plenty of places as far back as the weekend then who ever made that mistake needs a good chat from the top of the club. Interesting that it's coming now from the Walsall end too. If you lost your company 1,000s would you still be in a job? If you were I guess there would a reason for it!
Can we really afford to be chucking money away?
Wonder if the club will say anything on this rumour (unlikely?) or that heads might roll down the line.
As it said rumour.... But I always say when these sorts of things are being discussed it should be clear what the issue that people are talking about off the messageboards is so that everyone knows. I'm saying rumour but it's been a long time since I saw people so a dement that something like the above happened. If it did it's so frustrating after the positive vibes from the club recently.”
From A Saddlers fan Walsall fan coming in peace again. Well, well well!! Our Tom Bradshaw is doing the business as I said he would back in June. He is a quality player who is not only running the line brilliantly but banging in the goals. Not bad for a free transfer!! He clearly needed a better footballing team to tap into his full potential. I wouldn't be suprised if Wales coming calling again on his current form.

Needs ninety mins every week if he’s going to develop. Send him out on loan next season.

I think the kid became a man today. By far his best performance in a Town shirt in my opinion.

The lad gave absolutely everything today along with everyone else in the team. They were throwing themselves into blocks and as a town supporter you can ask no more. Hopefully goals will come for him but in the meantime I hope he continues to start games for the rest of the season. Great experience for him and certainly not letting anyone down. Great to see such a young lad getting stuck in.

Albert Einstein once said ‘in the midst of every crisis lies great opportunity’.
Bloxham certainly played well and you’d think he’s going to get a lot more football in these last five games, could be a huge, career-defining month for him.

He certainly had the beating of their full back in the air, but I though it would have been better to move to a more 'inside right' position so as to allow for an overlap on the outside. Not a criticism of him in any way, as he did the job he was told to do and he did it pretty well. Perhaps if the pitch was wider.
