Looking forward to this one as the last time I went to see us at Ipswich was in a cup replay against that very good Ipswich side of Bobby Robson's. Their record this season is rather rosier than it should be as they had the advantage of playing Bolton Youth while teams like us will have to play a much stronger Bolton side with some men in it (how fair is that!). Nevertheless it should be out most difficult test this season but Rickett's teams have risen to occasions like this in the past and I am hoping for a stirring Stoke/Accrington comeback and our first ever win there. Bolton have the points deduction and should be going down or should have been relegated anyway, they should now not be allowed to recruit and be strictly limited in January, make it at least a little fairer.

After all the issues with Hurst moving to Ipswich and taking Toto and Nolan with him its quite odd that only just over a year later none of them are likely to feature today and Hurst is long gone from Ipswich. And on our side only Whalley and Beckles are likely to start who played for us under Hurst
Very tough game for town but in some ways our more defensive style and counter attacking play might play to our advantage today more than it has in home games. Is a shame Okenabirhie is out though as his pace and eye for goal would have been handy to today

Be nice to take some points off this lot.
Expecting all out sour grapes if we do.
This lot are patictuarly potent for being rooted in the glory days of Sir Bobby and have failed to realise its been a slow decline for 30 years.

Please, football gods, let us win this one. It would be so... gratifying.
(Although, a draw will do.)

Not a chance of us getting a goal v Ipswich with that line up. Best hope another nil nil or Udoh cameo. Glad I didn't travel tbh.

That'll be one lot of egg on my face I'll be pleased to receive. In all seriousness though those strikers have delivered 0 goals between them in 5 games. You know what they say about the definition of insanity.

Not sure that SR could do any more with what he has available on the day. Unless you are aware of some L1 ready players we have but choose not to play. I for one will be right behind the team today.

Any chance we can the Morrison role around! Start with Fey and then bring Morrison on late! I just can't see this starting 11 creating enough chances!

Yes, if only we'd had some kind of window of opportunity available to sign a decent striker. No one could have foreseen that not strengthening adequately in that area would lead to a difficulty in scoring goals, and equally who could have predicted that that in turn would lead to difgiculty in getting points in the league? Obviously, being a season ticket holder and lifelong fan of the club who recently travellwd to Portugal to watch us play a training match I won't be getting behind the team today and will be actively hoping we lose. Stands to reason. Should we in fact win today's game you'll find me sulking in my living room avoiding the football results.

Is it me or does the third strip look a lot like the late 80's first strip? Jaysus, just had a horrible flashback of the football we played under Ian McNeil. Help!

So only the seven central midfielders in the matchday squad then.

Yes a bit like signing players for the sake of it, there are lots of quality strikers out there waiting for us to come along aren't there, or perhaps he wasn't trying hard enough. Maybe we should have had the hindsight that we were going to lose key players to injury, I always keep 2 cars on the drive in case one breaks down, who wouldnt!! I dont feel the need to say where I have been to make a point, didn't realise that this was a prerequisite.

Good to see Goss back, Laurent can drive us forward when he's on form and hopefully Edwards might take one of the chances that seem to have been falling his way lately.
Ricketts' philosophy is clearly more 'keep a clean sheet and at least we'll get a point' rather than 'you score three and we'll score four' - can make us quite boring, but that's just the way it's going to be, I suppose.

Well. What a start that is. Sloppy in possession, poor pass, give it away and then so easy for Ipswich from there. Rum. Blimey, could have drawn level right soon after. Hold on to your hat...fast start here.

Sounds like a poor penalty, Nick Southall, "you've got to be saving those"

Right, it's time for Plan B then, if we have one. Have a theory that we're actually better when we're forced to go s**t or bust, a'la Accrington Stanley, rather than grinding out another 0-0. Might need to concede another to force Ricketts hand, mind!
