I hope not. After an initial slow start his last 2 innings were very promising. Good thing is we've got some great options. Jordan, plunkett, broad (questionable), Taylor, Ali, Bopara, Wright and Samit Patel are all great options to have waiting in the wings... Whose place would you allocate to Bairstow then? Perhaps Roy, and move up Buttler to open? Personally, I'd prefer Ali to open with Hales. I agree about Ali opening. I thought he had a decent winter and is a great 2nd spinner to have as it wouldn't weaken our batting. I would play Buttler ahead of Bairstow for now and continue with Billings. Bairstows a fantastic talent and long term he'll make a big impact, but it would be wrong to drop a number 7 who's been asked to score quick runs who has succeeded 2 times out of 4 at the start of his international career.

Comfortable thrashing in the T20, Root standing out and some good smashing about from Billings, Roy, Hales and Stokes. Stokes bowling well again, Wood continuing to look thoroughly at home as an international and a few wickets for Willey.

Very enjoyable watch. Roy, Hales, Root, Billings,, Rashid, Willey, Finn, Wood and Stokes all put in good performances. Best thing was it was such a good team performance and the fielding was greatly improved.

Went to old Trafford last night. Big crowd, great weather, great cricket on display, and best of all sitting in my seat with a pint.....perfect

While Moeen continues to struggle with the ball for Worcestershire (1-82 from 27 second innings) and Ballance failed again yesterday, Broad has picked up 7-84 for Notts. Jack Leaning continues to look a star in the making, as does Exeter's very own Tom Abell!

And Craig Overton four wickets for Somerset, too - averaging about 16 with the ball this season, now.

Isn't it amazing how England have suddenly improved.
Funnily enough since Peter Moores was dismissed.
