I'm thinking it could be the Series of the summer really, because I think the Aussies will be far too strong for us. This series is too close to call for me. Obviously I am rooting for the Three Lions, but I think McCullum's adventurous captaincy might just see New Zealand pip England to the Series win.
I am looking at a couple of cheeky bets on Ross Taylor at 5/1 & Martin Guptill at 5/1 to be New Zealand's top Batsman in the series and New Zealand to win the series at 2/1.
Looking forward to flicking TMS on at work tomorrow anyway!

Kiwis on the up....England on the decline.
I predict a 2-0 whitewash for New Zealand...too much politics involved around the higher echelons of Engkish cricket. Pietersen not required, Trott walks away, yet Strauss is somehow The Messiah? b******s....Strass kow-towed yo the Old Boys Network, whereas Pietersen told them to do one....
....stuffed shirts & old farts, the lot if them!

I wouldn't be surprised if some Juan isn't caught was caught out by a fast ball that nipped backed, causing a painful blow to the inside of the thigh.

Fully expecting to lose this 2-0, despite that really looking forward to test match cricket returning to England, has felt like a very long winter. Hoping to see Cooky and Lyth scoring some runs at the top of the order, presuming it'll be Jordan and Stokes but would like to see Wood given a chance ahead of CJ.

Really want us to pick Wood and I think we've got an exciting team. It's clear however that the batting order needs changing.
My team:
Cook Lyth Ballance Bell Root Buttler Stokes Ali Wood Broad Jimmy
I think we'll win the first test as a few of their players have been playing IPL and haven't been here long. Jimmy will be in his element in cloudy conditions in May, I just hope we win the toss.

Good luck to Adam Lyth on his test debut. Hope he nails down the opening spot for a few years to come.

Don't want Stokes in the team - his bowling in the windies was wayward and not really threatening. At least Jordan was accurate and economical, which, allied with his excellent fielding and the fact his batting isn't far off Stokes's, means he's way ahead of him IMO.
Expecting Wood to be left out but hoping he plays, chance for Farbrace to show he's not just a continuation of Moores. Also agree Buttler has to play at 6 - we seem to have a strange insistence that keepers have to bat at 7, even though he's averaging 35 more than Stokes or Mo.

Vanner, you have your team! Excited for this now, don't think we'll get thrashed in either series this summer, personally.

Taken from the BBC live reporting as Stokes comes in at number 6:
"So apparently that batting change wasn't a deliberate move by England - Moeen Ali was batting in the nets and couldn't get his kit on in time to make it out there. Shambles doesn't do it justice - if this series is Paul Farbrace's audition for the permanent job of England coach, that's the equivalent of fluffing your first line and then tripping over part of the set..."
Dear me.

Dear me. The Beeb appear to be out of step with that. Sky have always had him down to come in at 8.

Yes it has been a shambolic start but I really hope the EBC/Strauss/Selectors actually show some leadership for a change and dont listen to everyone demanding wholesale changes every time we lose a game. There's some inexperienced players in the team, they need to be given an opportunity in test cricket.
Its getting like football now and people have no patience, at least give the latest 'new era' a chance before demanding it is ripped up.

If there's one thing the ECB can't be accused of, it's making wholesale, reactionary changes! Hopefully this partnership can keep going, and I do start to wonder if Ian Bell's form needs to be looked at. Can't imagine his average since the last ashes here is much above 30 - I can recall 2 centuries and not much more.
