52 partnership off 28 balls. Billings 30 off 12!

We keep losing wickets just as we seem to be getting ahead of the game. 227-5 off 36.4 Should be aiming for 350 ideally. Big knock for billings. Should be a better/more entertaining chase - although I'd prefer us to flay 500 and get them out for 59! Billings has made a cracking start here, showing his talent.

298-8 - 44 overs. Hopefully we can bat out the overs and get 330 now...

That was dumb Willey.

302 is a good 30/50 short. Going to need a much improved bowling effort...

Willey looks a handful (let the jokes commence!).

Even dumber from Stokes. Last ball of the over. Needed to push for one and keep the strike.

Sussex Surrey likely to be called off. Sounds terrible. Henriques and 1 other fielder have collided. Both knocked unconscious, Henriques is on a drip on the outfield. Lots of blood reported... They've got 3 ambulances at the ground already...
Both players gone off in ambulances, both now conscious and given thumbs up, game cancelled.

Stokes, Rashid, Willey are all to take the blame for this defeat.
Trying to hit every ball for 4 or 6 is fine..but NOT if you are 6 wickets down with 7/8 overs left and you are setting a target and not chasing. Brainless.

Good spell of bowling in the end to give the score a touch of respectability. If that batting collapse hadn't happened, would have been a good game. Still, bound to happen with a young team trying to adapt to a new style.
Stokes under-bowled again. 6 overs - I've been critical of his bowling in the past but in both the last two ODIs he has had a good economy rate and taken wickets, but other, more expensive bowlers have been given more overs by Morgan - just find it a little odd. Rashid not exactly building on his good performance in the first ODI; still a question mark over the spin role for the Ashes.

Bit hard to blame Willey - he's not a batsmen. Might be an all-rounder but he's batting at 9 with a pretty mediocre List A batting average in his first international innings. Was our best bowler, too.

Also good to see Cook continuing his good form. Bell 45no at stumps for Warks, too.

Bit harsh to blame them completely for the defeat Northwestman but I agree some silly batting, however it does come with this style of player. Stokes and Willey in particular didn't really need to play those shots at that point. Once again the bowling lacked a bit of penetration and a big partnership has buggered us.

Perhaps, but his average is barely 20 with a SR of 100 - suggests that's how he's going to bat, and what I mean is that he's in the team as a bowler, and so blaming him getting out cheaply isn't really fair.

He's a far superior batsmen to Bresnan, Broad or Jordan and if any of those 3 had played the same shot I'd have the same reaction. Very dumb after Stokes's moment of madness.

If we're blaming batsmen, look at Root and Morgan. One day cricket might be more of a T20 these days, but you still need one of those top 4 to bat the majority of the overs, and they were both incredibly well set and threw it away far too easily.
I think New Zealand managed to get a bit of a hold on Stokes, he was a bit starved of the strike and the boundaries had dried up so it was immaturity on his part.
Wasn't too long ago when we were one of the leading fielding sides in international cricket, don't know what's gone wrong there.

Why not Roy and Hales, too, while we're at it?

Well I think Rashid is bowling himself out of the test team. Agreed. It is a shame though because he looked good in the first ODI.

222-2 off 27 overs. Cruising isn't the word. Keep this run rate up and we'll win with plenty of overs to spare!!

350 would comfortably be our biggest ever run chase in a 1 dayer. We could have this finished with 50 balls remaining. Awesome stuff so far.

Incredible transformation by this England ODI team, given how little time has passed since the world cup shambles! Great stuff!

All set for the series decider at Durham on Saturday.
Weather looks set to be fair for the game, really looking forward to seeing this transformed team in action!
