England playing some lovely football.
The quality of Fran Kirby's passing is really impressive.

perfect start and end to the first half, england had six very good chances two goals and a shoot that hits the post, shame England are not out of sight .
England fortunate that norways appeals for a penalty did not go to VAR.norway did not make the most of there oportunities many of which came from England getting sloppy ,somthing they do in periods in every game so far. next goal is crucial Englands and you would hope they can hold on, if it is norway that will fire them up. this game is not over yet. but a good start by England.

3-0 to England. Good game, the chances had a few rocky moments but now in Semi Finals. A good tournament so far

A top team made look average tonight. Fantastic display from England and some top moves put together. I’d still back USA but surely we’re capable of winning of going all the way?! I’d like to Jill Scott take the penalties from now on though... 2 from Parris and none were near the corner making it too easy for the keepers.

well done England they desrverd the win and now face a very tough semie final.england looked dangerous in the last third and continued to creat chances.dont know why Norway did not sort out Bronze as she hovered a few yards outside the box for three free kicks but they did not and she buried the shoot in the back of the net.( also Englands second goal by white was just so clinical
in both halfs as they have done throughout the tournoument England switch of and produce sloopy passes in the last third.Bright made three bad errors all of which lead to Norways chances.Houghton saved Englands bacon twice , once when just as Norways Hanson was in the box and about to bury in the net,Houghton the ball of her foot. she made a goal line clearence and the keeper made a number of good saves. we won but we cant keep on doing this. England wasted a lot of clearences which were just catching preactice for the norwegin keeper. England have missed two penalties both taken by number 7 who desreves some praise for stepping forward to take one tonight.
(England have done really well and deserve the plaudits , they managed to keep Hanson who is a very good player relativley quiet but the sloppy play& switching off is an unwelcome feature and continues to be unresolved)
i did not think England were good enough to beat Norway and i am very happy to be proved wrong
an overdue yellow card for Norways number thre who produced a series of heavy chalenges and late chalenges. White bravely whent for a header with the tall norway keeper and got clattered, she also had a heavy chalenge from norways number three. houghton injured her arm and mead injured her knee so i hope all are ok for the semie finals
it is encouraging to see how neville has built on what the previous managers have achived and we are improving, we have some exciting young players coming through.

Superb win!! It was certainly more easier than I thought it would be and England really did look the part. There are times though when we do seem to drift off and whilst some might not be capable of taking advantage, others might well be. Because as well as England have played in this World Cup, the competition is about to crank up another notch or two. I think the likes of the USA, France and Germany are on a different level entirely to the others there. Really looking forward to seeing how we match up...

It would be very interesting to see how Lucy Bronze would get on in a League One mens team. You would think she is physically up to it and certainly has the skill and pace.

Yes, I think you are spot on with your comments . We really should have been pegged back by a goal or even two because we did drift off . Norway did expose us at times and we were lucky not to give away a penalty . I’m sure if their player had gone down the ref would have had no choice . I thorough enjoyed the match though , some great football by us and Lucy Bronze ? Well what can you say , she is brilliant. We are in with teams who are at another level but let’s see how we cope. Our team spirit is excellent , we have some really good players and we have Lucy . Whatever happens Women’s football is on the map well and truly . I can’t wait for the semi final and to see us in the final would be superb . We have a team to be proud of .

a very entertaining game as the US get of to a perfect start. disapointed to see france's number ten and the US number three both dived why went they booked ? also a few players went down pole axed for minimal contact. frances number 10 and 11 have caused the US problems but the last ball has not been good enough. the US seem to have a different formation or they seem to have more players in the midfield which is making them harder to break down.

It's going to be tough for England against the USA in the semi-final, they will have to defend better and concentrate better for starters, but England can definitely cause them problems going forward.

it does not get any tougher than playing a host nation in a world cup quarter final. France put the US under sustained pressuer but the quality of the last ball was not good enough,it is understandable that they rushed things but it lead to moves breaking down. the US left back did a tremendous job. the French defence went walkabout as the US cut them open in a counter attack to score, the US next goal was ruled off side, with about ten minutes left France score for a perfect cross and an emphatic header. The US ran the clock down and go through to the next round.
this game could have gone either way but both Spain and France have asked questions of the US . unfortently there was more simulation the most i have seen in the whole tournament. the ref had a very good game but failed to deal with the simulation.
The US win means that England will be one of hte last three Europeans teans and this mean the Women can field a team GB football team in the next olympics!

Probably better to play the US on neutral ground than France at home. I was driving and listened to the first half hour on 5Live - the atmosphere in the build up and at the start was as intense as a big Champions League game.
It feels like the women's game is making huge strides with this tournament. Really looking forward to England - US now.

The USA win also ensure England will be one of the best 3 European teams which has qualified a GB Womens Team for next years Olympics along with the 2 winners of the other Q/F games.

Absolutely no chance in hell. I remember reading a tier 1 women’s team got absolutely annihilated by a minor league men’s youth team. As much as I have enjoyed this tournament, the quality of the big few teams is way off the rest and the quality compared to men is way way way off - which is perfectly fine but completely factual.

One day, perhaps we might just enjoy women’s football without insecure men feeling the need to emphasise how much better the men’s game is.

Italy had three golden chances in hte first half two feel to there number 2 , one a nice chip which she did not do well with, another afer losing hte defender she had space but produced a feable shoot and there 19 edge of the box her curling shoot went wide of the post. Italy were unusally sloppy with there distribution resulting in many moves breaking down, the dutch had a few half chances, the intense heat and humidity impacted on how they played. they really missed Girelli today who is such an important player for them.
in the second half the Netherlnda played higher up the pitch, this compressed Italy who struggled to get any significant possession, the netherland maintained prolonged pressuer on italy by very good use of hte wings and recycling the ball, Italy who's defence has been so good started to get sloppy and lose there discipline given away fouls in dangerous areas ,not somthing you wont to do against the netherelands , the invetible happened as the dutch scored twice both with headers , unfortently Italy switched off for both of htem whilst the kepper got her hands to both she was not strong enough and tall enough to get enough contact. Netherlands 2 -0 Italy
Italy have exceded there own expectations and have played some delightfull football.

Sweden 2 - 1 Germany ; when Germany scored early and were opening up Sweden with some intricate play around the box things looked onymous for Sweden . what suprised me was how vunerable Germany were to the long ball or decisive diaganol ball. after Sweden scored the equalizer and then the second Germans huffed and puffed but Sweden stood firm Sweden have beaten there bogey team you dont see German fans looking gloomy very often. some games are won by fine margins the germans were unhappy about a tackle on one of there players who was on the ground as sweden scored the second goal and late into the game hte Swedish keeper coming for a cross flattened a german player with a punch to a head as she missed the ball luckly for Sweden during the move a german player was offside so no penalty, then a deceptice cross left the swedish keeper stranded and a header went wide. very pleased for sweden that they won but unfortently a center back went off with a knee injury, also one of there forwards will miss the semi finals against the netherlands with a yellow card.
only the netherlands gain from a weakened Sweden

if England are to pull off the shock of the tournamemt, they cant afford to keep having periods of sloppy play and switching off.Millie Bright made a number of errors against norway and was also caught out against Cameroon. we have seen them do it in every game. in the Cameroon game and against norway they were very lucky not to get punished. if they do it against the US they will punish and they have shown what they can do to teams once they get on top, equally spain and france have shown how to cause them problems

I would have to agree that Millie Bright did have a poor game against Norway. Having said that she was a doubt for the game with illness so hopefully she is now back to full fitness. Even if we go behind the good thing is that we are always looking good going forward and likely to score. We do need to change penalty takers tho. I am sure we have others in the team who take them for their clubs.
