Hopefully it will be dealt with and things will move on and this will be quickly forgotten. Its a shame but I still think we should focus more towards how things have gone and how this competition compares to others; you don't see an awful lot of arguing with each other or the ref, you don't see people diving, you don't see people cheating, you don't see too many bad tackles. Its like a breath of fresh air...
So France through and you would expect the USA to make it too. That is going to be some quarter final.

France 2 - 1 brazil an entertaining game ,the french player diani had pace ,strength and tricky feet and looked a threat evry time she had the ball, they look a well organised team who look dangerous at free kicks and corners.
the usa have not had a team put them under any sustained pressuer or ask any questions of there defence, with playing such a pressing game with often seven players in the opponents half, they are vunerable to a quck counter attack. if they beat spain . the french v usa game will be intresting will the us change tactics and how will they cope with frances ariel threat.

Asking because I don’t know the answer, when a team refuses to play as the Cameroon women did, what action is available to the referee other than abandoning the game? It seems to me that the only option is to wait for the protests to subside as bookings would make the situation worse. Presumably Cameroon will be punished later. the ref failed to deal with things early on and looked out of her depth, as she did nothing they got more agrived. a fifa offical has spoken to hte team at half time. so you would expect they get a fine.

There was a thing made about their last group win as it meant that it would mean they would only face the USA or France in the final. Of the top four in the current rankings only Germany are in the one side of the draw. It's worked out well for them... If England can get past Norway on Thursday, what a semi final that is setup to be. As you do expect it to be either the home nation or the number 1 side in the world. Can't see the US messing things up later today...

an entertaining game between the USA and Spain 1-1 at half time, all credit to Spain who caused the US a number of problems, the tactics of the long ball with a fast counter attack, closing down and pressing US defenders, as the us tend to play from the back and getting behind the defence to firs some crosses. a well taken penalty by the us, Spains goal came from a combination of a poor pass out from the keeper and the defender getting caught in possession.
the US number 15 has had so many chances a fortunently for spain has not had her scoring boots on in open play. Spain good midfielder went off with an injury just as they were starting to get into there passing game. let us the second half is as good as the first.

Spain deserve a lot of credit in the way they matched the USA , they suprised the us with there tenacity and matche them in the physical side of hte game, there number 7 did a great job in right back and they kept Morgan silent, just as the us looked to be running out of ideas and looked increasingly frustrated, they were awarded a very soft penalty. the us number 15 both penalties and must have ice inher veins as she clinically put the penalty away, what was telling was when the camera went to the US bench were the choaching team looked relived. Spain carried on fighting as the us tried to run the clock down.
i wondered what the us would look like under pressuer and how there defence could cope, Spain have given france a few ideas of how to cause them some problems and the US dont look as unbeatable as they did and are mortal, i think a few players will have a few bruses especially morgan who getting increasingly frustrated as she had to pick her self up off the pith after another , nudge/ shoulder charge and physical challenge, she made the point on a number of occasion were she held up the fingers of her hands the times she felt she had been unfairley chalenged.

after the high octaine of the US and Spain, the Canada V Sweden was a fist half of very few chances, the amount of extra time due to VAR it is telling that in this game they had a minute of extra time. both teams canceled each other out and unless we have a very different second half ,this game might be settled with one goal.whilst Canada got in to some good position most moves broke down due to dismall distribution .lets hope we get a better second half.

Sweden went up a few gears and suddenly had a cutting edge, an error by a canadian player was punished by sweden. canada were awarded a penalty i was expecting there most experinced player sinclair to take it.Beckie a good penalty but a brilliant save from the swedish keeper. the ref awarded sweden a penalty but it was overturned by VAR , a goal mouth clearence prevented another goal, whilst Canada kept on battling there distribution and finishing was poor. Canda have played some nice football and are a good team but unfortently this was there poorest performance in the tournoument.

a comfertable 2-0 first Italy over china, they should have been 4-0 after 20 minutes, there 19 had some great chances , one goal disallowed for offside, one goal and two missess. Italy had a player go off with an injury and china grew into the game. in the first half China should have expoited the poor distribution from the Italian keeper.
the Italian defenders number 3 and 5 did a great job of cutting out the threats. a well taken goal by Italy, i was suprised the Italians did not get a penalty as it looked like a push.Italy desrve credit for the way they played.

Enjoying this tournament and some good stuff being played. Just a point when they have a bit of set to (ie Cameroon) do they call it handbags or wallets, or man bags even?

the Netherlands dominated the first twenty minutes and desrverd the goal, puzzling tactics by Japan to let the playmakers in the middlefield so much room and time on the ball.i dont know if it was complacencey by the duth who seem to take there foot off the gas as Japan started to go through the gears and they had more chances and scored one of the best worked goals in the competition all to play for in the second half. the Netherlands had a number of crunching tackles on the japanes players and i was suprised that non of them got talked to by the ref.
the Netherlands tend to score in the second half and often late in the game, i know it is obvious but who scores next could be crucial.

how sickening is that just minutes left and the dutch get a penalty for handball with a shoot from close range hits the japanes players and this is were i dont agree with how they judge this, the shoot is close range the player was trying to turn away , how feasable is for a player running to close you down to do it with your arms behind you? stupid rule and jamy dutch go through when they dont deserve to. how japan did not score i dont know five chance two agonasingly close, one hits the underside of the bar another produces a good save and the other goes in the side netting. over hte course of the whole game Japan were the better team and they go out .there should be some comon sense applied to this rule rather than a blanket penalty .

It was crucial! Hard on Japan 88th minute penalty. Had generally controlled 2nd half but couldn't get the ball in the net. Hit bar, some good saves from the Dutch keeper. Rear guard defending from Dutch at times.
FT Netherlands 2-1 Japan
Q/F
Norway (12) v England (3) France (4) v USA (1)
Germany (2) v Sweden (9) Italy (15) v Netherlands (8)

Quarter finals: Norway v England (Thu 8pm) France v United States (Fri 8pm) Italy v Netherlands (Sat 2pm) Germany v Sweden (Sat 5.30pm) some very good games , putting my neck on the chopping board unless england sort out there concentration and defence they will lose france v US tight game but spain showed the US area beatable and i think france may beat them the dutch dont desrve to be in this quarter final and i dont like the way they complain and are the one team who go down easy but i think they will be to good for italy ( what the japanes game did show is if you frustrate them and put them under sustained pressuer they struggle) tight game depends on which swedish team tuen up if they play like htey did in the second half against canada they could beat them, i expect a tight cagey game so to win Norway , France, Netherlands last game ?

England face a toxic combination of injuries and a virues that has affected seven players.Englands capatain steph Haughton was on the reciving end of a late tackle against cameroon that should have been a red, whilst she trained yesterday she is a doubt and center back Millie Bright may miss the game. not the news you wont before a world cup quarter final.
