whilst this was a comfortable 3-0 for Germany against Nigeria. VAR and some contreversal decision. germany first goal a header that went past a rug of nigerian players whilst a clearly off side germany player was infront of the goalkeeper , impairing her vision so how is that not intervearing with play!!, a dead cert penalty yet it still went to var . germany good distribution , ball rentention and exploiting the gaps with a well organised team gave nigeria few chances , unfortently when they did come foward to many times attacks broke down from poor decision making, too many touches or a poor final pass.
when you have a forward who has scored 9 goals in 16 apperances, was just clinical as she scored hte third goal.

Indeed but goalies won’t get booked if they stray off the line in a penalty shoot out new rule from today.

Norway win 4-1, deserved I’d say. Shocking miss by Kerr their poster girl prolific striker. Tough opponents for England if as expected we get through. Should be a great match.

Norway managed to nulify australia in the first half, Norways number ten caused a lot of problems with some powerful runs and just inteligent football, her shoot it hit the inside of the post wand flashed across the goal mouth was just all down to her. Australia did well to get back in the second half and then norway win on penalties. the ref awarded a penalty to Australia and then looked at Var and reversed her decision which is what you wont from VAR. to look at was it offside, did the foul take place in the box etc

and early and late goal by england at half time England 2-0 Cameroon the cameroon defender was lucky to just get a yellow in the face also one cameroon player spat on the arm of an english player that was not punished by the ref when the england player complained. for all of england possession they have not created enough chances and have mainly come down the right, when the left winger has been in acres of space, prior to the goal england only had two chances on goal.
they also dropped off the pace and were very sloppy with some of there distribution, fourtantly they were not punished .( this is somthing england have done for periods in every game.)
Cameroon players very unhappy with the VAR decision and complained it was off side and they complained for some time. town must not switch off and no silly/sloppy play. england need to game manage this second half who scores next will be a big factor in how the game turns out.

Interesting end to the first half, Cameroon seemed to lose the plot when the 2nd goal was awarded after a VAR. All kicked off when they showed the VAR still on the screen. The scorer clearly onside and another England player was offside but not interferring with play. BBC reporting Cameroon officials in tunnel accusing FIFA of racism!! When ref blew for HT the Cameroon players went into a huddle on the pitch.
Anyway England 2-0 at HT just gotta keep calm 2nd half, could get tasty!

Well Cameroon what on earth was that about wasting time some sort of protest against the decision? The lino should never have flagged anyway.
Now VAR chalked a Cameroon goal off as I type. Cameroon players very aggrieved and some are in tears.

This will be carnage now, Cameroon goal ruled out by VAR for offside. It was very very close!! Close but definitely offside, feels like some sort of riots going to break out the next notable decision that gets given against Cameroon. England however first 12 mins of the second half have been a shambles and then nick a 3rd!

It's hard to believe that the Cameroon players and bench have such a poor understanding of the offside law.

I think all referees in the Football league have the same level of understanding

VAR just gets worse, that's as clear a red card for the foul on Houghton as you will ever see.

Well they got through that almost unscathed. That challenge on Steph Houghton in added time was shocking, should have been a red for me

start of the second half and uter shambolic ten minutes from England could have conceeded three goal.camerron fractional off side and the team lost the plot. the ref failed to control the situation. England switched off again dreadful back pass only a good save kept a lean sheet ,then swithed off again and did not deal with a long ball. a clincal goal from England 3-0 looked like England should have had a penalty . very late in to extra time Hawthorn taken out by the cameroon number 21 .the player studs when down the side of the ankle after the ball had gone only a yellow card dont know why this was not a red.
utter chaos at times with a weak ref failling to get a grip on the cameroon players if england defend like this against norway they will lose as there number ten will rip them apart.

Terrible, terrible refereeing. The referee took pity on Cameroon and knows she would’ve lost control even more so bottled the penalty which clearly should’ve been given and also the tackle on Houghton could’ve seen her out for the rest of the tournament it was horrendous, red card surely.
That no.7 at the end if that’s not a yellow card for dissent then please tell me what is? No.3 was also a disgrace. Such a shame a good England win has been tarnished by Cameroon’s antics.

Not enough quality referees in the womens game. Cant see why they cant use male referees. Trevor Kettle looks quality compared to some seen at this world cup.

Agree, they allow men coaches in the women’s game and women linesman in the men’s game so I think men should be allowed to ref the women’s games as the standard of refereeing has been poor during the tournament. France 1-1 Brazil - Going into extra time.

Asking because I don’t know the answer, when a team refuses to play as the Cameroon women did, what action is available to the referee other than abandoning the game?
It seems to me that the only option is to wait for the protests to subside as bookings would make the situation worse.
Presumably Cameroon will be punished later.
