Don't forget that no sooner did the new owners of Bolton get their feet under the table than they out £40 million in loans.
That should give them a slight advantage in the January transfer window!

It's funny to think that I only mentioned about Accrington yesterday how they fought their way back from obscurity all those years ago to run their club like a business, and totally annihilate the club that's been in the news again !! Well done Accrington.

Just turning into a bigger shambles by the day. Have every sympathy with Doncaster but this whole scenario could have so easily been avoided with the right action before the season had started.

Why should Doncaster now have to play this game against a full strength Bolton side when they'd have played against a bunch of tired kids had the original fixture gone ahead? Not that this in any way justifies the easy points Bolton gave away to other teams in their 1st few fixtures.

It has also been claimed that Bolton have not yet paid the administrators £1 million which is owed to them.

Difficult to not agree with these clubs tbh. The EFL have opened up a whole can of worms the way they have *ed about with clubs like Bolton, Bury and Macc. Should be an interesting game on Boxing Day at Sunderland tbh.

Got away with it .... "The panel considered the original verdict of a sanction of five points, suspended for 18 months, and a financial penalty in light of the submitted appeal by the EFL, and concluded that the decision taken was proportionate given the mitigating circumstances the Club has faced over the extended timeframe.
While disappointed with the verdict, the EFL respects the decision taken.
Discussions will now continue with EFL Clubs to formalise a scale of sporting sanctions for breaches of relevant EFL Regulations, relating to non-payment of debts and non-fulfilment of fixtures, in future."

Playing devils advocate here I guess they would say those mitigating circumstances are because the club were a mess financially through their own mismanagement...for which they have already been punished (12 points).
Thankfully it still looks a huge ask for them to stay up. And I say that because for me when I look to "proportionate" it means relegation to the 4th...👍

So I wonder how Macclesfield will now be dealt with by the EFL with regards to their failure to play their game against Plymouth?
I think we all know the answer to that one.

The EFL appealed the punishment (wanting a harsher one) and The independent panel rejected the appeal.... so how do you work out your conspiracy theory? A bit like the police wanting to prosecute and not being happy with the punishment the court handed out..... (misread you post but you get what I mean nothing to do with the EFL being soft...)

Several League One clubs are considering legal action against the EFL over insufficient punishments for Bolton Wanderers for registering players late at the start of the season.
Administrators who helped save Bolton from following Bury out of the English Football League this summer are still owed more than £1 million in fees, prompting concerns about the new owners’ finances.
Months of uncertainty about Bolton’s future seemed to come to end on August 28, when the League One club announced it had been taken over by Football Ventures (Whites) Limited. It was the same day that Bury became the first club to be expelled from the league since 1992.
Burdened by huge debts and repeatedly threatened with winding-up petitions, the Greater Manchester side were relegated to the third tier last season, a fate which prompted then-owner Ken Anderson to place the club in administration.
David Rubin and Partners, an insolvency firm with a long track record in British football, was appointed in May by the family trust of Eddie Davies, the club’s biggest benefactor until his death in 2018.
Over the next three months, the firm’s Paul Appleton ran the club while attempts to sell to a credible buyer were urgently stepped up.
Potential saviours emerged and disappeared, and league deadlines were stretched, but the sale to Football Ventures had seemed to be the end of a terrible chapter in the club’s history.
They had already started the season on minus 12 points — the standard penalty for entering administration — and had earned one point in their first five league games, losing the last three before the takeover 5-0. This was hardly surprising, though, as they had begun the season with only six first-team professionals and had cobbled a side together with last-minute signings and youth players.
But in August the club also postponed a league game against Doncaster Rovers at late notice, saying they had a duty of care to protect those young players, as they had played another game three days before.
That unauthorised postponement eventually brought an EFL charge but last month an independent panel decided to give Bolton a suspended penalty of five points, a sanction the league, and many League One clubs, believed was too lenient, prompting an immediate appeal.
Several sources have stated that some League One clubs are considering legal action against the EFL if Bolton are not docked more points. Macclesfield in League Two were docked six points for failing to fulfil a fixture against Crewe and the late payment of players.
It is understood the clubs are also annoyed because they believe Bolton were allowed to register players for their first game of the season against Wycombe after the usual deadline of noon the day before.
Their anger about the postponement and the alleged breach of the registration rules has not been helped by the improvement in Bolton’s performances since Football Ventures control. The first game after the takeover was another heavy defeat but a series of draws followed before the club won three straight games in October and November to wipe out their 12-point penalty.
Southend, Tranmere, Milton Keynes Dons and every other club in the bottom third of the League One table will be watching Bolton’s moves in the January transfer window closely, particularly if they have not yet settled their administration bill.
For their part, Bolton deny any wrongdoing over the registration of players and the EFL’s rules say players can be registered outside the usual window if the players are unregistered by another club.
With regards to the administrator’s unpaid bill, a spokesman for the club said: “It is widely known that the takeover of the club was protracted and there were a number of complications right up until completion. David Rubin and Partners worked under difficult circumstances and were ultimately instrumental in the survival of the football club.
“Football Ventures (Whites) Limited and the Joint Administrators are working together to finalise the administration process and remain in discussions regarding the associated fees which we hope will be resolved this year.”

Well as far as the memorabilia goes I would check in Milton Keynes. They don’t mind where they fill their trophy cabinet from.
