They have to be deducted points for failing to play Doncaster and Brentford last season to make it impossible for them to stay up. It's already a farce created by the clowns that run the game, it would be the last straw if they stayed up at someone else's expense.

Anyone else feel like Bolton have pulled a bit of a fast one here by playing those games? Presumably they will avoid a further points deduction for all bar the Doncaster game and go ahead and sign a load of Championship standard players. Meanwhile several clubs have had a "free hit" others won't benefit from. Seriously, yet another cock up from the EFL in my view. What should they do? Be forced to play all season with kids? Get a grip. When clubs have injuries should all games get called off so that it is considered a level playing field for everyone else? Yes it's a shame that others have been given an easy 3 points but I'd rather see us in a competitive game of football than caning a bunch of demoralised teenagers Shouldn't have played any games at all until their situation was resolved.

Another 5 conceded today, but talk of Nolan bringing 15 players in if he becomes manager........how is this a fair outcome for those who will not be donated 3 points from playing a bunch of kids?

It isn’t and just makes a complete mockery of this year’s league one season for everyone.

It isn’t and just makes a complete mockery of this year’s league one season for everyone. They're going down and won't have any real bearing on where we finish this year so what's the problem? I see you're now satisfied with the recently installed toilet seats but what about the exterior paint work?

Not good the paint works.
It’s not the effect of the extra points on Bolton. Surely it’s the effect on final league positions between the clubs who played their youth team and those who didn’t ?

There are so many variables over a 46 (or 44) game season they will tend to even themselves out. Also, life's not fair. It is what it is, get over it.

The appointment of Keith Hill and David Flitcroft makes sense, but Soccer Saturday on Sky yesterday afternoon were blatantly lauding studio pundit Kevin Nolan as the manager in waiting, Geoff will have egg on his face today. As for the results up to now giving some teams an easy 3 points is irrelevant, and you can't blame your own faults on someone else's 3 points gained. As a previous poster said it will be a miracle if they survive the drop and you would expect them to struggle on the pitch given the fact they may be signing cast offs with no pre season or little first team action. Good luck to them.

If we are looking at relegation candidates, both Tranmere and Gillingham have been gifted 5-0 wins by Bolton, which are their only wins of the season. This could prove to be critical at the back end of the season.

Keith Hill as manager is inspired. He will know all the players out of contract in the North West as will his assistant David Flitcroft. Expect them to be a decent team by the time we play them. Even though they will still be relegated they should still get decent crowds from supporters who will just be grateful to have a club.

Not too many more 5-0s then. Too bad for those not lucky enough to have played against the youth team.
Hope that points deduction gets doubled.

Thanks for all the answers. Does this mean we could, if necessary, sign a free transfer if we needed/wanted to?

Thanks for all the answers. Does this mean we could, if necessary, sign a free transfer if we needed/wanted to? Players who are free agents, and where their registration is not held by another club, can be signed outside of transfer windows. Players can be released by clubs but that club can still hold their registration, in which case they can't join another club until the next transfer window opens.

Thanks for all the answers. Does this mean we could, if necessary, sign a free transfer if we needed/wanted to? Yes but more accurately Free Agent - a player who wasn't registered with a club when the Window closed at 5pm.

So how many is that that Bolton have signed up to now?

Some of the signings Bolton have confirmed today were players with them last season who had committed to sign once the deal was complete, e.g. Will Buckley. Others, e.g. Chris O'Grady, is Keith Hill bringing in players who have done well for him in the past. Liam Bridcutt is the one that stands out for me, a very good player at this level. I did read that Hill also wanted to bring in Stephen Dawson from Bury, who would be another he's worked with in this past.
