"We are sure supporters will be very pleased to understand that as part of the transaction, all of the existing loans to the club will be settled in full and the associated charges removed, meaning the business will be debt free for the first time in many years"
Their ex-chairman Eddie Davies wrote off £175 million of their debt in 2016, and was still tapped for a further £5 million 4 days before his death.

Had no financial difficulties at Burnden!! Only since the move to Horwich have there been problems. Pleased now have a backer but wish it was not him!

So.........here we go again. Bolton threw money they hadn't got to get promoted out of our division. Then Blackburn did it, now Bolton will take another turn.

More borrowed money and a massive parachute payment will virtually ensure automatic promotion or at least a play-off place next season. What chance for well run, responsible clubs like ours. The rules, such as they are, are stacked against us. We have to outperform most other clubs just to stand still. BUT, I wouldn't have it any other way because its the right way. The EFL need to get a grip.

I've always believed that parachute payments are rewarding failure.

I've always believed that parachute payments are rewarding failure. Absolutely right. Teams in the same league should be treated the same. Giving financial aid to demoted clubs is grossly unfair and is the equivalent of giving them a ten point start.

I agree with you but we can't get too high & mighty considering we benefitted from one when we got relegated to the conference

Dislikable side last time they were down here so no sympathy from me today. Only problem is, as mentioned above, they’ll be in millions of debt but still come down here and pay players 10-15k a week and get promoted.

Would this be the first time players have gone on strike in England and games haven't been played as a result? I can't remember this happening before.

Financially the worst run club - Bolton or Bury? Both are disaster zones and lucky that much stricter solvency rules aren't in place, as they should be. Even worse than Blackburn - what is it with these Lancashire B-town clubs? It'll be interesting to see how they shape up in League 1 next season. Their parachute payments are gone, at last, though not by that long. Will they continue their appalling overspending? Will Bassini put any real money in (and by "real", I don't mean lots, I mean real, not hopeful, borrowed or imaginary cash!)? I'm really hoping Sunderland lose in the play offs, for similar reasons.

Aren’t they supposed to check on finance and/or owners? Due diligence, financial standards, etc? Working within financial rules?

Said it when they were in league 1,they'd come back down sooner rather than later. Deduct them 30 points and see how they get on then. Financial unfair play has been going on with Bolton for years. Can someone tell me how many points were Luton deducted when they went down the leagues, can't even remember what it was for!!!

Over to you EFL or FA or whoever. Let’s see if you you’ve got any balls. 30 point deduction NEXT season - minimum requirement.
