Don't think that proves anything. What Cotterill has to say publicly and what the true position is are not necessarily the same thing. Cotterill might decide who's recruited, but he doesn't decide how much money he has to spend. As I've said before, I can only think the paucity of the squad is a consequence of the process of preparing the club for sale and a decision being made above Cotterill's level that the purse strings would be tightened.

He’s still doing a better job than the previous manager with a weaker squad. I see enough in SC to know that if we get the January recruitment right we will stay up. Yeah I know that’s an if, but if he then fails questions will be asked for his sacking and rightfully so (but we can’t afford to sack him so we may as well support him)

If the club is being sold, does anyone seriously believe Wycherley would sanction any significant spending for a new manager (or Cotterill)?

We won’t know the truth but Cotterill did say it’s the same budget as last year (I think it was pre Gillingham) Ricketts had a squad of 29 players on the same budget, in which case we could afford some new players in January. I do agree on the smaller squad with more quality, but if our numerous transfer targets turn us down we end up with the current situation we find ourselves in. What doesn’t help Cotterill either is we have so many players which he didn’t sign which are clearly deadwood or clearly won’t get a game (Not his fault) - Gregory, Bevan, Daniels, Caton, Pyke. The thought that Pyke will still be here next season stealing a living is a rather dreadful one. This team is so far away from being an SC team, he’s doing well with what he’s got at his disposal at the moment.

I'd be very happy if he *****d up the coming window as 'badly' as last January - Chapman, Pennington. Davis, Ogbeta, Main in, Daniels, Pugh & Cummings out. I wish every window was that bad.

Say what you like about Penno but the signings of the previous manger of EEL and Pierre have been more culpable. Granted Penno has been bad against Plymouth and Rochdale I think he’s our best centre back at the moment. Oh and he’s definitely an improvement on RSW. All these win percentage is utter b******s. There is 11 players on the pitch. Didn’t Gareth Bale go 24 games or something before his first win at Spurs? Not done too badly has he?

I’m sure we’ll get more than 3 points out of: Rotherham (H) Sunderland (H) Charlton (H) Cheltenham (H) Accrington (H) Sheff Wed (H) Bolton (H) Rotherham, Sunderland, Sheff Wed & Bolton look tough matches but we should be aiming to win the other 3.

Its not a secret that misdiagnosis never lead to correct treatment, but thats what has been happening for the last four seasons. Is it coincidence that all managers fail when they come to Town? They do well before and after leaving ( Askey at Port Vale ), but never while managing Town. How many clubs have been fighting for staying up after play off final season in season out? Only Town maybe. Looks like SC will be given another chance to fail in January and someday we will have to pay for not learning the lesson. After all bottom half of league Two is full of former league One clubs

I understand the doom and gloom but that is nonsense, lets look at our most recent managers Ricketts - Not managed again Askey - Is now managing at Telford's level Hurst - Was a disaster at Ipswich & Scunny, now in the conference Mellon - The most successful out of the group Turner - Not managed again Simpson - Not managed again

One thing I would say it's they're all managing conference and below, retired or haven't found another job; that tells you everything you need to know about Roland's managerial record here: p**s poor.

Temporary manager with us before his short term spell as manager of Tranmere.

After all bottom half of league Two is full of former league One clubs I think you'll find the vast majority are in denial here, the only problems we currently have are those created by ricketts ( the builder ) pyke being the biggest problem oh and we've had some terrible bad luck with injuries almost as bad as last season Sarkik, injured September, ( Iliev came in outside of window a week later ) returned v Oxford city Golbourne , injured mid October ( Daniels arrived outside of window 2 days later ). returned as sub v Oxford city Love, Goss ( out of squad for reasons undisclosed ) both came back into squad in December Pierre, spent most of the opening months catching up with fitness issues, +red card on opening game Sears, crocked 4th game in and out until Feb Fossey, injured nov 3rd , never played again Whalley, injured early October, missed 9 games, Pugh arrived outside of window as cover Walker, missed a few games in November Vela, missed 4 games in November banned Barnet, 2 injuries oct/nov out for most games Norburn, missed about half a dozen games start of the season, banned for the MKD game Edwards, injured opening game, came back mid November missed a dozen games J Daniels, seems to always be injured, made 1 league start in October and then another v Blackpool 29th dec, Clarke, injured in October, returned on boxing day Pyke, Injured 2nd game, out for the season we also had a chap called Matt Millar who arrived after the window had closed after denial, comes anger

I saw two probable scenarios concerning the way the change of how club is managed should occur. First one is a bit optimistic and implies managerial change in the first half of the season. Predicting the poor start to the season i thought early December would be the right time to start and turn things around and finish in play offs. The second is more realictic but risky. We need to be decisive and act quickly because towards the end of the season we may get back to the bottom four. Danger of relegation might make the board finally take the right decision, i hope

As i have said before you are an absolute WUM and not a Town supporters and probably post threads like this on other clubs boards.

Looks like SC will be given another chance to fail in January and someday we will have to pay for not learning the lesson. After all bottom half of league Two is full of former league One clubs I think from now until April we might only get a few points and most likely on the road, at home we may be really poor. As i said before i saw two types of scenarios of the change of how club is managed. The second implies the change towards the end of the season. It seems things went that way.

I think remaining seven games of the season will not be as we expected, i wouldnt say we are moving in the right direction just because we won last two games scoring eight goals. Nothing really changed at Town regarding playing style, strategy, managers ambition and i see general disappointment come May as we will have spent another season struggling at the wrong end of the table.

What we want and what SC said we need to succeed is what other big L1 clubs have always had which is big budget, quality players, but he didnt mention that they have been struggling to achieve their goals for seasons. And when we beat those clubs he never says that we dont need to be big to be around top 3, which we know well. Many have been complaining about the chairman not being ambitious enough to spend more, but i think we could ask ourselves are we really ambitious ? We seem to give our manager as much time as he wants without him really moving club forward. We wanted an experienced manager who apparently signs only quality players from PL or Championship at a well run club that doesnt spend more than earns, not a good mix i think

Its not a secret that misdiagnosis never lead to correct treatment, but thats what has been happening for the last four seasons. Looks like SC will be given another chance to fail in January and someday we will have to pay for not learning the lesson. I think we can expect more of the same from SC, another disappointing transfer window, small squad, not many pre- season games. I dont question him as a coach but i'm just not impressed by his managerial skills and recruitment approach. We've always been a club that gives a chance to young and up-and- coming players from lower leagues but these days we sign more PL or Championship and its no wonder they are not easy to bring to a constantly struggling L1 side, especially young players when they know the manager prefers experience and can play the same starting XI for months. His treatment of young players is quite worrying. Chapman for me has a PL potential and he didn't sign him, we could extend Ogbeta and then sell him for much more. Tom Bloxham was one of our best players in the first part of the season but when Bowman got back from injury Tom didn't play much, very little in the second part of the season. Many will say he has improved Udoh, Leahy, well i think Udoh always had that potential, the problem is he didn't have enough game time in the previous seasons and Leahy had a good season before coming to Town. We all know that trust of the manager improves players and the lack of it makes them worse then they really are and we have a manager who doesn't trust half the squad
