Latest Salopcast now live covering the latest two wins over Oldham and Portsmouth Another very good listen and getting to the point where it could be described as slick! One piece of constructive criticism regarding PH’s comments on fans post Oldham; you both discuss right/merits of a mgr to ‘criticise’ the fanbase which is fair enough. However surely also worth debating is how anyone can justify moaning at any of our current players in the context of this amazing season & their incredible efforts against all odds and expectations. In the past fans frustrations have been more understandable due to performances on the pitch. That just isn’t the case this season and begs the question whether some people just like to moan?!?

A fair point and one I think I covered somewhat, its mad to be critical in the context of the whole season, but people still get all wrapped up in the game in front of them for 90 minutes and there is that initial disappointment that many express when things start to go wrong. Its depends on the rational or non rational part of the brain being dominant when town conceded a 2d after being 2 nil up.
Thanks for the comments on the pod, as we have progressed we have tried to focus it down more and more to be something that's consistently out on a sunday night, with a set format and focusing more on the points around the game than say describing each individual moment. Its been a steep learning curve!
Thanks for listening.

Cheers for the reply Glyn.
I agree you covered it in terms of whether PH was right to raise it & also you hoped he was aware it was only 1 or 2 people. I just feel the fact that anyone could still react so negatively towards our players in the context of this amazing season was also worthy of discussion.
I appreciate that as the pod is very much by fans for fans that any criticism of our own can be delicate but feel it is justified on this rare occasion.
Keep up the good work!!

I was stood right opposite, and Alex's shot was going wide. It was definitely Toto's goal.

Incase you mist it, the latest salopcast went live on Sunday, and covers Gillingham and Charlton.
The pod went great guns yesterday doing 400 listens in about 24 hours! It's been the best start to a postcast week we have had so far in the almost two seasons. Great to see it growing and providing fans with some content every week.
Once again, thanks for the support!

The last regualr Salopcast of the season has just gone live, covering the 62nd and final game, the playoff final.
We cover the match, but also the experience of getting there, where guest 1 (Dave) went to Wealdstone and guest 2 (Mike) went into a box at Wembley. Both put it down as the best trip yet. Same result though!
We here from two of our youngest fans, and we wish a missing Ollie a happy Honneymoon as hes off following his nuptials at the weekend!
Thanks for all then support again!

Have updated the masterlist to the end of the season
Both End of Season reviews have now been complete and we are enjoying a summer break from the Podcast before we roar back into 2018/19
Hope everyone who's listened to any amount of the pods this season has enjoyed them. We have now done 80+ and its going from strength to strength. Growth this season was significant and all based on word of mouth, we haven't tried to promote the Pod in anyway other than a bit of social media work.... seen a double in listens per week and per ep!
Cheers

Latest EP nopw live covering Pompy away, more gifts, the SHOP being rank bad, Ifollow and looking ahead to a massive game vs Southend! Quite recently the slagging off of players has become vile, the stick Beckles was getting at the start of the season, and this is just a p**s take. The guy is an STFC player and despite what we think, the manager feels he is the best person to select at the moment... sorry guys but hang your heads in shame....

Yeah your ok.....
Its taken a while to be this stringent on something and we do give the other side of the coin that he was there through necessity not need Saturday. No way he starts ahead of Angol or a fit Holloway.
But this is football we are all allowed a view, if you think the shop is decent and deserves to start then sing it from the rooftops.
I also defend Beckles all the time so there is that as well
But I think the shop has been s**t, and is a bit s**t.... yeah he plays for Salop but everyone is allowed a view
Not like you have never been negative about a player or manager on B and A before... come on!

Saying a player is a bit s**t isn't what I would file under "vile". It's two supporters talking about the club, the manager, players, games and performances. For the most part that's how supporters go about discussing things. I think that's a bit of an over reaction. Anyhow, another enjoyable listen. Good stuff...

In a way though - it’s two supporters talking about something that then goes out on social media. Does that make a difference? I don’t know and I’m too old to care.

Who knows, do you really think more people think the shop is a bit crap because we said it...
Suspect most already knew and made the judgement hes not league 1 standard.
Hardly a shocking revaluation for people

We like to think the podcast is reflective of discussions in the pub that fans have. The biggest error i made in this EP is not bleeping out the swear word, for every other one we had (and there were a few in the latter MM days) i bleeped them... i guess hearing the word s**t makes it seem more vicious, but the context in which Ollie said it was not really so. We asked the fans if they thought he was league 1 quality and most responded now, so the discussion also reflected that as well as our views. Harsh, mabey. Par for the course for fans discussing players and there performance over an extended period now - yes. Funny now no one ever picked me up for how much worse I used to be about Ian Black!

Perhaps the Ian Black bit was when it was not such a wide audience... I am not holier than thou... but I reckon the only 2 people I have publically slated are Roland and GT... I can't remember stating about players.. but please point out if I have selective memory. The way I see it, it certainly does not help the relationship with the club...or indeed players... I can't see Askey or any of the players going out of the way to be amiable when fan base ask them for summat... just think it's a bit s**t to be fair....

Fair enough, all entitled to views...
As has been said MANY times on the pod, we arent telling people how to think just reflecting what we think and what other fans do to. I launched a staunch defense of Omar a couple of times this season despite him stinking the place out a few times. Thats because I believe hes a decent player with more to offer. Honestly I dont feel like that about the shop. Got to be honest.
As you say you have been critical of two men who did more for the club than most so it feels a little churlish to be upset we are critiquing a player whos played 50 games for us, and barley for most of them without really ever looking likely to score many goals.
At the end of the day, its not about relationship building on the pod, its bout intresting discussion, debate, entertainment and thats about it.
We build relationships through the SP, and if being a bit mean about the Shop on the podcast effects that, then the club would need to give their head a wobble. Christ we said way worse things in the fanzines about players that went far and wide across the fanbase.
That said, happy for you to record a rebuttal at home (if you can do it MP3 were golden, or you can record on an iphone voice message save it and email me the file) on the points we made if you want and would play out unedited on the next pod...

Who knows, do you really think more people think the shop is a bit cr@p because we said it... Suspect most already knew and made the judgement hes not league 1 standard. Hardly a shocking revaluation for people I can't quite understand the logic of those who defend the Shop by saying 'oh he's only our 3rd choice striker, he won't start once Angol or Holloway are fit'. Trouble is, he HAS started and it's cost us. He's in the squad despite most on here having severe reservations about his ability and recognising he's not League 1 standard. Admittedly, he was only given a further one year contract by virtue of PH's recommendation, but surely it shouldn't have taken JA too long to realise his limitations and plan for a season without having to call on him. Leave him to see out his contract, like we once did with Demetriou and Vernon. He's always got his role as Club Captain to fall back on.
