Tough uncompromising character, done well at Morecambe, might be just what we need.

do the bookies know something we don't?

Just avoided relegation from League 2 last year.
Not for me thanks.

Rumour on the Morecambe Fans Forum that we've asked if we can speak to Bentley.
His price has come down from 40/1 to odds on so I suggest that something is going on here.

Bookies are all over the place. They've got as much idea as you or me. Cotterill was 4-6 on at one point wasn't he?

And Matt Williams is 4/1 which is laughable

Brabin keeps getting quoted in the betting.
Now that IS laughable (I hope).

Will the Telegraph impose a sting on the one getting the job. I see RW on his way to William Hill right now.

My choices would be Kenny Jackett, Ian Holloway but wouldn't say no to Bentley even given his AFC Telford United connections and giving half the west stand the middle finger the one year after we jeered his fall!

The chairman did want a new Bentley - looks like he could be getting one.

I remember the match when Bentley, (who was playing for Morecambe), came up for corners, to be greeted with a chant of, "you fat barsteward". In the end, Bentley turned to us and shouted, "bollards", or something like that. At the end of the game, he came and clapped us. We clapped back.

To be fair, he didn't say he saw a number plate with his name on?!
Think what manufacturer the chairman's car is!!!

This makes sense was up town a hour or so ago a white Range Rover vogue with number plate jgb went past. Put 2 and 2 together and then I see this thread

5 years at Tinpot and a middle finger makes him an absolute no for me! Plus regardless of his Tinpot connection I don't see what he could bring to the table.

Need to spent money on a quality manager with experience of getting a team out of league one not any more managers with conference league 2 bottom half experience. the chairman needs to spend money at the top

Would be a very disappointing choice. Where is the league 1 experience that we need. Tranmere fans on their forum we're turning their noses up at the thought of Bentley in charge of them ffs.

15th,16th,16th,11th, 21st placed finishes in League Two.
Morecambe are a small club but the likes of John Coleman do a lot more on a smaller budget.

And that is where you are wrong as Morecambe have had the lowest budget in Football League for the last 5 years! They start the season well every year then fall away due to tiny playing squad! Has worked miracles and has earned his chance if Roly pursues him!!

And that is where you are wrong as Morecambe have had the lowest budget in Football League for the last 5 years! That may well change with the new owner on board. Also just noticed on their site that a Qatari businessman has also joined their board and is to be co-chairman. Looks like investment may not be a problem. Would Jim Bentley want to therefore leave at this time?

Even radio Shropshire mentioned Bentleys name tonight. Is it April 1st again.
What an insult to Mellon that we are even thinking of replacing him with a manager not even as good as him.
Why do I feel like I'm biting to some sick joke here.

Look at Morecambe gate.........barely 1500 watching every week. Nothing drastic is going to change that, plus Morecambe don't have a training ground and are training at various dogs**t parks regularly. It's a no brainer for Bentley if he is approached and an opportunity that might not arise again. Morecambe are a conference club punching above their weight while the Shrews set up screams wannabe championship level!
