Sometimes I get quite disappointed with our new signings, are they going to be good enough? Are they what we really expected to take us to the next level ?
Then I think back to other seasons when we have excitedly welcomed some "big signings "
I call those times my "Anthrobus " years .

My trust in MM is being tested with this one!

To go from being arrested and then binned by Luton to League One looks like a lucky break for him. Let's hope he repays the faith MM has shown in him.

So we pay off a pile of poo and replace it with another pile. Great use of the limited budget! We lose a couple of key players and replace with this standard I can see the folks tempted back in to the season ticket fold shouting.

As I said on another thread its no surprise people are a underwhelmed by our signings, its a result of fans seeing players being released and hoping we sign them, when we don't then its a crisis apparently. There's a few posters in particular who are very persistent and vocal in who they would like us to sign but they know nothing of their situation, e.g wage demands, location they are looking for, might not want to play for a L1 side etc. Last season showed that have no idea of the transfer dealings which are going on and we shouldnt expect our wishlist to join us.
But saying that, something I do find strange is the club (Mellon & Williams) have been quite vocal about the step up, needing to bring in quality players and needing to bring in players who know that level. Yet the signings we have made don't really meet the talk. Almost has echo's of what happened following promotion under GT and the signings we made then.
But lets just wait and see, still a long way to go until the season starts

Personally in my opinion i think that he would be a good signing because he made 19 appearance's for luton scored 3 goals picked up 2 yellow cards but does not have any red cards to his name this season. In 2013/2014 he made 16 appearance's scored just 1 goal picked up no yellow cards or red cards. www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=39596if only fair play got promotion!!! Maybe we should message Gary lineker and ask him if he fancies coming out of retirement !!!

I just hope that none of the jury on here are ever sat in a Crown Court casting judgment. A player who, as yet has not put pen to paper has had his character analysed and his ability questioned long before he has kicked a ball. Just remember MM is paid to do a job and has plenty of experience in doing that. Do the board listen to Blue and Amber to get their views before signing a player? If they do God help us. Give the guy a chance to perform. Mangan has only ever been a lower league player but no-one was criticising him last season when he was scoring against Chelsea etc.

In my opinion some of our fans will be underwhelmed if this signing is confirmed.

I must admit I forgot about Sadler and was referring to the last 3 signings including Whalley who hasnt played at that level before Agogo has had one season in L1 so is hardly proven. I didn't think Woods had played much due to injuries but having had a quick look at Wiki I can see I was wrong on that one.

You couldn't be more wrong with Martin Woods as he was an integral part in two of Doncaster Rovers League 1 promotions.

Hopefully he is cheap back up for another winger that we have coming in. It seems he's hit and miss so when a game goes a bit stale maybe throw this lad on?
If we went into League One with this squad I'd be more than happy.
Keeping this squad together is the main thing and Micky has done that so far.

People are forgetting last time we went up. How many players did we have only weeks before the start of the season? Not many as I recall. The lads who have come in have signed 2 year deals, unlike before when nearly all were loan signings. Time will tell if the signings enable us to progress but after last year I prefer to trust the judgement of MM & MJ rather than the many glass half empty posters on this thread.

Strikes you more as a Ashley Vincent/Scott Vernon type of signing. Never heard of him though, so he could be a surprise one and being a winger means a 352 may not be as common this season as last maybe?

This and Ogogo is starting to concern me with our transfer dealings so far. It feels a lot like Turner in League 1 right now. I really hope I'm wrong but it isn't boding well unless we get some proven league 1 players in.

Not the same at all Turner was well known for bringing in inexperienced players from both League 2 and on loan. We are following exactly the same model right now. Loan or transfer they are still very similar.

don't forget there's league 1 experience among the existing squad such as Collins, Vernon, Lawrence, NKP, Wesolowski, Ellis, Barnett. And as also said above the squad is not breaking yp as much under GT. So now it's about adding in some extra experience (e.g. Sadler) and lower league players still keen to develop and improve as part of the ever changing and improving squad.

I'm personally happy with the transfer dealings so far.
If Goldson or Woods was to depart I'd imagine we'd replace them with a decent standard.
However they ain't gone (or might not) so no need for any serious investment just yet.
Squad harmony is crucial and we seem to have that.

I think our transfer business was done a year ago for this season.
Buy in players on 2/3 year contracts, get promoted and keep the same players together for a crack at League One. When teams usually get promoted they will have a lot of their key players leaving (us in 2012) and we are in a unique position at the moment.
GK- more than good enough for League One
RB- only place I am worried about, I'm not convinced by Gayle but Ogogo could play there and Grandison.
CB- a wealth of talent,Grandison,Goldson,NKP,Ellis and and Smith could all be battling for 2 positions. They'd get into a lot of teams in League One.
LB- Demetriou and Sadler are good enough.
CM-Woods,Lawrence,Weso,Ogogo and Clark, looks strong to me, maybe 1 more addition.
Wingers- Woods,Whalley,Caton. Need at least 1 more out and out winger.
Strikers - Collins,Barnett,Mangan,JLAA and Vernon, very experienced forward line.
Of course, some players could go but MM did his recruitment last year, we just need to top up with a couple of players and we are good to go. I suspect large wages are going to the spine of our team with Goldson,NKP,Lawrence,Weso,Collins,Vernon,Barnett already.

So the club we've signed him from don't rate him, happy to see him go and haven't got anything positive to say about him. Cause that never happens does it?

Bit of an odd one as hardly set league 2 alight and "former Telford loan" player is worrying
As a few others have said our signings so far look like strengthening the squad which already contains some good League one experienced players plus good youngsters.
The only fear would be if you take out Woods and Goldson, and Wes and NKP don't start the season I can't see the current signings matching this quality. However plenty of time yet to replace these players - assuming we need to

Very true, if we went by what Hibernian fans said about Collins, we'd have never signed him. Barnett from Peterborough, JLAA from Tranmere too. This signing reminds me of Andy Mangan. I was very underwhelmed by us signing a non-league striker who was no longer wanted by Forest Green but he turned out to be decent.

But I doubt we could get that lucky. 2nd prize would be Gayle.
