Thinking about it though Scenario Kiddy 1 - Town 0 70 mins gone on sat What would the crowd be like - all our thoughs of yeah the atmos will be amazing would be rubbish cos the fans would be moaning and getting on players back in that situation!! But is that the players and managers fault for a poor show or ours for lack of faith??? I think in that situation both partys are blamed for the atmos beeing poor???

id depends Glyn, if we were all over them, and doing everything but score, the crowd would be behind them.
If we were being "cheated" out of the game, the ref would get it.
And if we are losing 1-0 and playing insipid football than I immagine, everyone barr Sam Aiston and Luke Rodgers will get it.

Ignore the keyboard coward, he's obviously feeling happy with himself today.
He's probably had a release of sexual tension due to it being Valentines day. The only thing to work out is whether it was either; a/ solo act b/ a homosexual act or c/ a hetrosexual act (unlikely) my guess is a/

Never sure it's a good idea for the manager to criticise the fans even if he's right. One problem is that we (the fans) have had to endure 7/8 years of a dismal standard of football. (our record over the last 15 years in league and cups is pretty abysmal - I'm not saying this is an excuse to moan but an explanation. It would be interesting to see what would happen if we get a decent couple of seasons playing attractive football).

Is this not old news that has been picked off ShrewsWeb though?
From an interview where he began by saying how well the fans had done?

There was a lot of debate regarding these comments after the Wycombe game and how the fans would react.
As it was the atmosphere for the Orient game was quite excellent in the Riverside - and that was in the first 40 minutes of a game which was, to that point, was pretty dull.
Whether or not the crowd have much of an impact is always debatable but if I was a manager I'd certainly want the fans to get behind the side, as apposed to slagging them off.

The way loads of people left in droves at the Wycombe game was quite embarrassing.
I have never understood people who leave a match early.

Town crowds have always been infected by a good number of vocal moaners, some of them start just after kick off. Its an odd mentality that pays money just to have a moan- you have probably never played football but if you had, do you really think so called fans criticising your every breath would have helped you to play better?

Not sure if I agree with GP's criticism, especially the wording and timing of it, and this really stokes up a debate.....HOWEVER....if you think about all the criticism the players/manager/directors/club/whitters/whoever take on board from us lot, ONE statement from GP givin us some stick is a drop in the ocean. Agree with him or disagree, take it on the chin and lets put another nail in Kiddi's coffin come Saturday. GP is slowly givin us what we want (league footy), lets give some return ey SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALOP

I think GP is engaged in what I think is called 'conditioning'.
He's making an issue of it to make the positive fans feel justified and make even more noise and the moaners feel bad and shut up and I think he's right to do it.
I also think that he should record his thoughts and have them played over the P..A. before kick off and at half time.
As for the early leavers, I guess it looks worse than it is because there is only 1 exit from the Riverside/Wakeman End. Most don't actually leave, they just get in a good position for a Le Mans start when the final whistle goes.

I don't condone the slagging off fans give the players. However, I do believe Mr Peters should concentrate on his players performing and im sure the fans will reciprocate by cheering them on. If we were top of the league you still will get people who will moan and there’s nowt you can do about it unfortunately.
Mr Peters will antagonize supporters if he keeps dictating to the fans what they must and mustn’t do.

To be fair the Wycombe game was cr@p and we never really looked like getting an equaliser. The atmosphere away this season has been faily poor mainly cos we've been getting slaughtered and the grounds we've visited this season tend to have poor atmospheres themselves-Grimbsy only sang once during the 1st half on Saturday that memorable battle cry 'w@nker, w@anker'. So I think its just a case of frustration more than us getting on the players backs. At the end of the day we pay our money and if the players fail to preform then we more than entitled to voice our displeasure-otherwise we get into that whole 2003 syndrome when we were playin cr@p but not vocing our concerns at games. End result players/management were'nt put under pressure to preform and we were in turn relegated. Still think Garys great mind!
