get Cotterill back now ... ****s sake. Have you been living in a cave for the last 18 months, for the biggest part were in this mess because of him and Caldwell. think you will find we maintained our league status in the division that is league 1 . how you think Cotterill is to blame for us being bottom of the league in November 2024 is astounding . lots of water and money flowed under the bridge in contracts for players that are not up to it , or too over weight they would struggle to turn on meole island perhaps you think he recruited the players in the current squad ?

Wow, you are unbelievable... Maintained league one status with a squad we couldn't afford, and a man who spent money on expenses that nearly bankrupted the club. and now we have a budget that reflects the money problems we are in. So yes we can blame him for the position we are in.

Victor me thinks you are deluded if you think Mr C has nothing to do with our plight. Him and the Scottish one emptied our larder and left us with crumbs. Our team is the result of bargain buys. OK on the face of it but scratch the surface no substance. Yes much water has passes under the bridge but all the fish has gone

Whilst others are piling in on your opinion, it’s quite clear that since summer 2023 by which time Caldwell and Cotterill were gone, that significant mistakes have been made by all at the club - Wycherley, Moore and Hurst in particular. To continue to blame others for the current predicament is a convenient scapegoat and an abdication of responsibility.

Awww bless #weeklybigupsteviebaby Has arrived Remember when cotterill started losing and throwing games and crying , and the likes of him, you and all his fans blamed the chairman saying all he needed was a bigger budget Well he did have a bigger budget , and those left in his wake have a smaller budget because of him and his lunatic destructive selfish antics League 1 in the last few seasons is becoming the new championship cess pit , town are not going backwards, they are getting overtaken by money The pair of C's that almost ruined our club could not have done so at a worse time and the club and fans are currently suffering from their actions But hey , here is a brush , and there is a rug Go sweep the truth under it

I did wonder about the sale of the club, but surely if it was that far forward something would have leaked by now. Having said that, security at the club seems to have improved. Does anyone have a clue who the new manager is?

I'm all for a broad church for opinions but most of the time it just created endless back biting. I don't know if it's 'oppositional defiant disorder' in action. As a father of an ADHD child I'm used to seeing that a lot. I vividly remember people threatening to cancel their season tickets because a couple of games were being brought forward in the winter because of the energy crisis a couple of years back. And we were doing well then! But when we're literally at our lowest ebb in recent memory, the same people are calling out fellow fans for being critical! You couldn't write it.

Agree with a lot of what you say Pilch but wouldn’t say our fans are unrealistic, I think it’s more a case that many are just fed up. This appointment is probably the biggest we have made as a club since the conference season, Ainsworth would reset the balance imo, Mangan is a risk but would excite me, Mammria is a risk and don’t know much about him as whether I’d be pleased for not, the other names being mentioned I’d struggle to see how it changes the direction we are heading….. that said what do I know about football, I was happy with Hurst coming back
As for staff etc, chairman’s trying to sell, everyone’s working their bums off, not sure what else they can do given where we seem to be. The chairman has always made it clear the manager/coach/dof signs the players.

Currently we are in a period of uncertainty off the pitch with relegation almost certainly staring us in the face on it. We have a squad patched together over three managerial cycles, mostly of journeymen and duds bought in on the cheap (We know this because Micky Moore proudly boasted the budget has always been the same - this in 'real terms' is a budget cut. (Ignores inflation, much higher standard of league this season). Therefore unless the change of ownership is imminent (which it may be for all we know), I don't see us being a particularly appealing prospect for any proven or experienced manager. A Maamria appointment for example, where his last job was getting sacked from one of the few clubs who have been consistently worse than us over the last couple of years would remind me of when Ratcliffe came in after getting the boot from Chester. That said 'if' it is him then fans will support him and he may well turn out to be a success. Ainsworth is at least proven - he is the most successful and had the longest spell of any manager in Wycombe's history, not to mention got them promoted to the Championship. Matt Bloomfield, who played under him the entire time he was there as manager, is now building a squad that may well return the club back to the second tier (although rumours are he is a strong contender for the Coventry job). They've had American investment for the last few years which has undoubtedly helped but it is indisputable that Ainsworth laid the foundations for where the club is now. He did however get sacked from QPR and like anyone there is zero guarantee he would be a success but it would show more ambition than any of the realistic names being thrown about. Some of our past managers may have had better win rates than others and I don't doubt there's inconsistencies in which managers have been more popular than others but you're comparing apples to oranges. It's easy to be an after-timer and say so-and-so should have been given more time when we know what happened next. I absolutely disagree on Mellon by the way - the final era Mellon team was among the worst I've ever witnessed. The only manager in my lifetime that I was genuinely surprised to see get the boot/leave (other than Cotterill) was probably Jimmy Quinn. I think in every other occasion we got it right. Probably further supported by the fact Ricketts never managed again, Askey has gradually dropped down the pyramid and Taylor's next job was Wealdstone.

I was going to make a very similar point. I often hear the argument that none of Cotterill’s megabucks players are playing at a higher level now compared to when they were with us, yet this same argument apparently doesn’t apply to our recent former managers when discussing whether we were right to sack them, all of whom are either no longer managing or at conference level or below.
Indeed since leaving us I believe only Hurst, Simpson and Mellon have managed at League One level, with the latter two promptly leading their sides to relegation in their first season back following promotion from League Two.

Mike Jackson seems to have bettered himself with Burnley but didn't quite pull it off Has a manager ever had success at a higher level after leaving us ?

No doubt Simpson did well with the England youth setup but it’s fair to say he’s proven to be unable to cut it at League One level.
IIRC Jackson wasn’t sacked as manager, he just returned to his number 2 position under Mellon the following season after our relegation from League One, and was collateral after Mellon (who I was a big fan of) completely lost the plot towards the end of his tenure.

Cottrells team is irrelevant, as we couldn’t afford them. Out of all our other managers Simpson probably had the best squad on paper and imo failed miserably given what the chairman gave him. Hurst def over achieved first time so can’t blame us getting him back. Taylor,Ricketts and Askey have been horrendous, the others all seemed to have decent supporter backing. That’s why we need someone with something different this time, something that the fans think could help us turn the corner, it may be to late for this season but if that’s the case build to stabilise the club for next season

Christ. Those 3 hardly inspire me and consequently I doubt a squad already low on confidence will be that inspired either. Crosby is someone I know nothing about … Ainsworth would be my favourite purely because he’s actually achieved something!

Dink has a good track record in this scenario but he ain’t actually going to get the crowd exciting
Gareth ainsworth even he was involved in the biggest cheating scandal down the meadow, I’ve always liked him and what he did at Wycombe was brilliant.
I’d also be happy with Ryan Lowe as he’s proven himself at a higher level and is a fans favourite.
If it’s Craig Harrison we all know what’s going to happen upstairs
