A really sad and painful second half. Didn't come out at all. The usual influx of changes after the game is over. Passive. Spineless. Shoddy defensive work. All the solidity of Hursts teams of old pride themselves on is completely non existant.
The senior pros are a joke. We have placed our entire season on talented young players, heaping pressure on them.
Blame at all 3 of them tonight. Hurst Moore and Wycherley. It's abysmal.

This game came too soon for Town.
Wrexham a very good side again. Still against the minnows Town should compete.

A nothing performance. Unless Hursty can sort out this defence we’ve got major problems.

Poor second half, Wrx looked like they eased up after the calamity of the 3rd.
They were bigger, stronger and brushed us aside.
It summed us up when Gilliead broke through the middle with half the pitch to run into and had a heavy touch straight to the centre back.

Makes you sick to your stomach losing because of our own mistakes. Gifted them the win.
Some positives to take but they mean nothing at the moment. Onto the next.

Trying not to get too disapointed after the result, as Wrexham will probably be a top six side this season with a mix of established players who know their tactics well, backed by some quaility signings. Which unfortunately is something Town are far from at the moment.
The new signings gave a bit of hope against Orient last week, and Josh Feeney looked ok when he came on, but very little else today to get the hopes up that the side is starting to gell and progress is being made. Defence is the massive worry as it looks so vulnerable to even the simplist of passes or through balls, and its asking a lot of our attackers to have to get 2-3 goals in a match if we are conceeding 2-3 goals so softly each match. Really does remind me of the terrible Ratcliffe defence in the relegation season to the conference.
Tough watch today

Well what did we all expect? Yeah, pretty much this 👍. Can't remember the last time went into a game confident town would get something. Only against the very poorest of the league do I think they have much of a hope. And that is not going to keep them in the league. They have 3 points against a side that havent got a point so far. Would be very surprised if they get more than 3 points from the next 5 games. Let's just hope they surprise me. And they could. The squad isn't utterly hopeless. Some youngsters with potential, a couple who are trying to prove a point, and some players with decent experience. But it just mostly looks like a league two squad, with the worrying combo of a poor defence that is going to concede, midfield that struggles to maintain possession and an attack that struggle to convert the few chances that come. Sometimes they can perform, but 1 game in 5 is not going to cut it

Also to add if Hurst has played Ojo over Parry for tactical reasons then we should be very worried.

Shoulda played in blue and amber!
It's now crystal clear (if it wasn't before) that we are operating in a different league-within-a-league to Wrexham, painful as that is to say after a decade and a half. Nevertheless, hoping for better results against the teams lower down among the wines and spirits.

With some of the refs from last season that match could have ended 9v9

Nsiala is on a two year contract. He needs to get his mojo back pdq (if he can) because that was poor. Overall we were not too bad - definitely need to improve but not a complete disaster and something to work with.

Always want to beat them and we have had the braging rights along time now! Today was not two teams the same batteling it out to see who was best it was rich against poor with a gulf in the standard of player! Today was their day and we have much more importent battles to fight if we want to stay up. I just hope it as not knocked the confidence to much as we have another hard game coming up.

Well what did we all expect? Indeed. No point in getting hot under the collar too much as we went into this game very much in hope rather than expectation. Shame that we gifted them the win with our dodgy defence.

I expected town to lose for me it was just a matter of how many and to avoid humiliation and getting thrashed.
No idea why Hurst went with some of the line up. Dropping Perry made no sense. We lost because they could by pass the midfield and our useless defence gifted them three goals.

If Nsiala and Benning remain in the team then we are certainly destined for Division 2.
Hoole and Pierre are poor too - so not much improvement expected when they come back.
Maybe a switch to 3-1-4-2 might improve matters with the 2 Feeneys and Nurse at the back.
Wrexham's 2 wing backs were given far too much room, whilst up front Lloyd made no impression whatsoever without support.
Wrexham played 2 up front (Palmer and Marriott), and had 2 more experienced players, Mullin and Fletcher, coming on to replace them. Their £500k striker didn't even get a game!

Regardless of the players, the fact that he played a duo in central midfield (really key positions) who weren't even at the club a week ago, and both joined from league two sides that were happy to let them go. If you want the bite of Ojo, surely Gilliead is the man to not be in the team. Perry has had months training and playing with the 5 players behind him. These two have had days. Seemed a weird choice when it was named and still does

Seemed a weird choice when it was named and still does I thought Gilliead was one of our better players today, which isn't saying much I know. Ojo was very lucky to have avoided a red card, and contributed little. In fact our entire midfield was overrun. I agree that Perry should have started. And the fact we haven't got cover for the useless Hoole is always going to bite us. Winchester would have been of far more value in central midfield.

Sagoe Jnr will soon replace Shipley in the XI.
Look at the positives Josh Feeney got on.
George Nurse must be pushing Benning for a starting place soon as well.

I'm going to remain positive and look forward to next week
Today was always going to be a tough game and unfortunately a few mistakes at the back cost us
nice to see feeney get a run and he looked useful too , hopefully he might start next week and perhaps nurse in too so with a bit of luck those mistakes might not happen
come on town 👍

I was there. And i have a lot to say.
I haven't read anyones thoughts yet so as not to prejudice my own.
I expected us to get get beat 2 or 3 nil today. So no shock at the result. But what I will say is the lads gave 100% yet again. They did against Peterbro, they did against Huddersfield. 100% effort, but the quality just isn't there. Nothing much more we could do.
I thought we all ran like crazy. They were so big, tall and strong...somehow wee Lloyd up front on his own did fairly well. Castledine prob my MOTM but not much to choose from really. He linked up really well and was good positionally.
All the goals were soft. Which was a real shame. The match was over at 2 nil. They were crap from set pieces...we were also crap at set pieces as usual. Shipley giving it up to Benning and us still not really doing much with them.
Talking of Benning...he was really good last season. But he cant defend. He's best when hes bombing down the wing pinging crosses in. But this season his position really is stuck at LB and very little bombing forward. Hes wasted there IMO.
Savin was okay, but he was at fault for the third goal. What was he thinking running out so far for it...moment of madness. Thought Nsiala and Feeney did okay.
RB was Winnie filling in for the absent Hoole...he did okay. But the other man from NI had him beat. The vile McClean (who somehow got Wrexhams' MOTM) prob should have got sent off after making 3 bad challenges.
I'm afraid Shipley didn't affect the game much. Bloxham did well considering. I've been impressed by him in parts this season. I recon we could make some money from him. Gilliead was good, maybe also a shout for our MOTM. Ojo was okay.
I thought the wrexham fans were awesome to man today. They were all up clapping and singing (although they were winning at the time). I know they have big plans for their stadium, but the shape of it really let the atmosphere down a little. With the kop end being an open temp stand. When they get something more enclosed and substantial it would be a real atmosphere indeed.
I seen no trouble anywhere. Plenty of OTT abuse both ways inside and out the ground but didn't see anything physical. The policing was good all around the ground. The halftime food was decent and frequented a few watering holes pre-match with no issues. They have been good hosts 🤷♂️
They brought on Mullin, Fletcher and Jones as subs...the depth in their squad is quite something. I expect they are top of the league now. Shame we couldn't put a dent in that but there's always the home leg. Maybe we could stop their promotion push in its tracks then.
Bit of a dead rubber. Onto the next match really. If we keep putting in that 100% effort who knows.
