www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2024/july/04/micky-moore-open-letter/“Harrison Biggins is somebody who we monitored throughout last season. He has got League One experience and had a strong campaign last year at Doncaster. Paul and Chris saw a lot of him last year as well. We think he will be a really good addition, he is an attacking midfielder who likes to get into the box and score goals.”

But shows quite how tight it is, as we clearly need bodies at the moment. But that's the place the club is at. Welcome Gilliead one presumes who is more versatile I guess. Its a confusing one

Boss Paul Hurst said: "Harrison has left to go on loan to Carlisle. "It's something that's come very out of the blue in truth. "With some of the players we've brought in recently and looking at the whole picture, we felt that Harrison's starting options looked like they were going to be difficult to come by. "We had a call from Carlisle expressing their interest so I had a conversation with Harrison. "He's still our player and certainly could have stayed if he wanted to, but he may not feel he's had the best start to his Shrewsbury career and I cannot criticise a player who wants to go and play games. "We shook hands and I wish him well" www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2024/august/30/harrison-biggins-heads-out-on-loan/

Says very much the same in their website - says surprised we let him go !! Let’s see whose right 🤔

Signed Biggins, realised he wasn’t good enough then let him go on loan. Not against that at all.
Shows that we made a mistake signing him and got it wrong but willing to rectify it now and we bring in a replacement.
Not every player we sign will work, they’ve identified it early.

Perhaps a nice cost saving as well to scrape some budget together for a defender too?

Don’t worry, we can read how happy Biggins was to be at Shrewsbury in tomorrow’s programme. Jaysus, you couldn’t make this stuff up!

He’s arrived but it will be ok because he’s worked with the coach before!

Gilliead has been confirmed by Bradford as leaving to join Town. Its now 1 in and 1 out. biggins was already being left out, the signing was already proving to be a bad one, so this is at least a chance to correct things, shame we cant throw a few more dice too

Gilliead seems to be able to play a lot more positions than Biggins so I don’t hate it, but does seem to look like the transfer strategy has been poor.
I will gladly eat my words if some budget manoeuvring results in us signing some defensive cover as well though.

Gillead possibly a right back / winger. So there is proper cover for Hoole.
Given that Rossiter and Winchester are injured that's a strange one.

I can just picture the conversation between Simpson and Hurst "You're not looking for two centre half's that can't run are ya ? "... Nah..Cheers Hursty, but this is Division two, not the F#####g Conference North....

Don’t worry, we can read how happy Biggins was to be at Shrewsbury in tomorrow’s programme. Jaysus, you couldn’t make this stuff up! An earlier poster suggested The Muppets theme song instead of Catch Us If You can. I suggest the one for Benny Hill might be more appropriate.
This from the BBC website: "Shrewsbury have apologised to fans that there is an extended player feature interview with Biggins in Saturday's match programme for the Leyton Orient home game.
"The programme was sent to print as per our usual deadlines. However, the transfer materialised long after that print deadline. We apologise for the unfortunate timing of this," said a club statement."

Everything feels a bit unplanned for the club at the moment, these comings and goings don’t really fill me with any confidence that we’re not just plucking available players in the hope something will work
All seems a long way off what was said to be the purpose of the Director of Football role introduced last summer, where a more structured recruitment policy was planned.

Biggins wasn't going to get much game time here. Surely behind Shipley and Castledine for the CAM position and behind Winchester, Rossiter , Perry, and Shipley for the CM role.
I hope Gillead was already on his way because if we have signed him for a replacement for Biggins rather than getting a defender in Hurst will have fallen even lower in my estimations.

I am seriously starting to worry now! This is starting to sound a lot like when Roy Keane took over at Ipswich and we know how that went! You could even compare it to Ten Bob at United!

I presume this now helps us to play 5 at the back if we want to.
