Not sure that's true. How did Jack Price get round this last year? Also Aaron Pierre when we were seeing how fit he was? Good point, like I said it was something I was told. Maybe,as above, they aren't insured. All employees, whatever the company, are covered by their employers insurance. With football there are obviously additional insurances given the nature of their job. Question is who would pay if Dan came training on Monday and got injured? I guess its like hiring a car whilst on holiday, you pay a small premium for a matter of days instead of months, seeing as we want him more than he wants us , other trialists might have their own insurance as they are the ones needing us , to be honest I dont really have a clue, maybe someone like dibbly might know a little better how it works

So while players trial they would be covered by insurance on the facilities. Maybe they can also get their own to cover loss of earnings, but one would presume that you need earnings to get that sort of insurance.

Didn't see Udoh as part of the first team training squad. Perhaps a sign he is off [ His contract expires on Sunday I understand that if he doesn't sign he can't train with us as he won't be covered by our player insurance I would say if he hasn't signed by now it looks unlikely he will, so why should he be offered training with us. Looks like he's moved on, so he needs to sort himself out, were re not here to get him match ready for some other club, loyalty a 2 way street.

Going back to your post, perhaps Dan's had a financially better offer from a lower league club? Guess we will never find out,but come on Dan sign our contract...you know it makes sense 😁

Dan Udoh wants to stay at Salop but his offer falls well short of what he has been offered elsewhere.
I suspect sadly he may play with Luke Leahy in the very near future.
We need to improve our offer to retain his services

Dan isn't coming back is he! No, he has had since August to sign new contract. Potential increased terms since then and still no signature. I'm at the stage now where I wouldn't want him.

Yes its make your mind up time for Dan. As of tomorrow he stops earning a wage so I'm sure it will get decided in the next few days. If Dan doesnt decide I'm sure PH will decide for him.

Dan won’t be returning it’s pretty obvious. He’s had two offers.

Tbh by now I'd have revoked the offer and wished him well.
Not worth the money.

He is a useful player who would probably improve working with Hurst.
However he is far from irreplaceable if he goes elsewhere.

He’s holding out for more money and who can blame him? I don’t feel like I have to be dismissive towards him or his efforts over the last few years though. Good luck to him at his new club except against us!

If he moves on from the club that nursed him through his injuries then that is his right. If he is no longer Shrewsbury Town player, fine but I will also move on and have now further interest in his career!

He came back, contributed and was fairly key in keeping us up. If he stays; great, if he doesn't; good luck to him.

He’s holding out for more money and who can blame him? Well he is now at the point where he wont be earning money at all now his contract with us has finished. Guess he still hasnt had an offer that he/his agent feels is good enough as he hasnt yet signed for anyone else. A decent striker would surely have had clubs falling over themselves for him and he would have signed for them by now. Maybe our offer is somewhere near to the best he has had and he is still thinking things over. But it's time for him to decide on the next couple of days.

Yep I understand that's paid to any player who hasn't signed for another club by the 31st July...and is literally a redundancy/ good bye from the football industry payment.

Udoh was a Cotterill man after all. Brought in by Ricketts but made by Cotterill. He's gone.
Time to get Fraser!

As I said, I will have no interest on whatever he down in the rest of his career.

Missing 1 months pay at £8-10k per month won’t make any difference if he signs a new deal at £15-20 per month for 2-3 years. Sadly I think his silence speaks volumes 👍🏻

Strange, it could still happen for Udoh either way but given the affinity that Dan has had with the club given the statements that came from Bennett and Marosi (being at town for 3 years) and Dunkley only 2 I'm surprised Dan hasn't released something similar.
Perhaps he's still trying to get a little more our of Roland.

If we can't meet his demands which I imagine are not going to bankrupt the club then good luck to the lad and he's much better than us, his age after a big injury to come back and score goals for an absolute dog s**t outfit as us last season he deserves a pay day.

I'm sure Dan got something like a quarter of the goals scored last year so I can understand why he'd look at other options.
But Roland give him a good 3 year deal and some wingers to cross the ball into him. It will make sense.
As Dan says 'Up the Salop'

Would think signing for Birmingham City to help them get out of this league might be a dream deal for him? Think he's got enough love for STFC to not sign for some tinpot team purely for money. Didn't he get married in the close season? That refocuses life and career decisions.
