It says it all that we were in a position to leave Kenneh, Sobowale, Bowman and Anderson out of the squad and still had **** all of quality on the bench. All those that wanted quantity over quality, this is what it gets you. Spot on.

When Exeter had the opportunity to get past the defender , they often pulled the ball back for players to have a shoot, this happened on a number of occasions and yet far to often the Exeter player got to the ball. We conceed three soft goals and there was a lack of leadership and fighting spirit on the pitch, I bet Hurst can't wait to get rid of most of this team who are poor. We can't even do the basics right Exeter had much better ball retention and distribution and Woods was given all the freedom in the world to run the show.

Happy to be corrected on this, but I make it that we've played 9 "midweek" games (7:45 kick offs so excluding Boxing Day and New Year's Day) in the league this season, scoring a 3 goals and conceding 19. Of the 3 goals we've scored, other than the own goal against Barnsley, we haven't actually scored a midweek league goal since the first half of the first game against Burton.
I think the above kind of backs up the belief that the team just isn't fit enough to play those midweek games, which simply isn't good enough for a professional team

The sub-5000 crowd and complete lack of any atmosphere gave the impression from the off that no-one could really be arsed with this one after Vale, and unfortunately that couldn't have been more accurate. One of those irritating refs who due to not having the ability to stick the ball in the net finds another way of making himself the star of the show. The signs were there when he gave Sraha a yellow a minute or two before the red, which like Shipley's red was probably technically justifiable but completely unnecessary. Game was realistically over at that point, frustratingly Exeter looked pretty limited until their first and I think we'd have had enough to beat them 11 vs 11, but it was all redundant after the red. Credit to Bayliss who started really well and kept battling after the red and looked like the only player who might be able to get us back into it. Probably a worse decision than the red was him getting cleaned out in plain sight and therefore unable to join an already undermanned attack, allowing them to break and kill the game. Didn't deserve to be booked for having the nerve to point out that was a mistake. Probably harsh to single out someone who's part of a ten man team we basically threw second half to concentrate on Saturday, but Idowu looked like a competition winner even by this year's standards. These Irish signings could soon be making up three spots in the worst signings list. Speaking of which, O'Brien looked ok. I'd start him on Saturday in the hope we can get at least one moment to remember from him. Those Irish signings alone should be the reason why MM and Ware should no longer be at the Club after the end of the season. But there are other failures - such as the loan signings, with Anderson and Kenneh not even in the squad last night. Unbelievably, MM has given Mata and Idowu contracts until 2025/26!

Of course they're not fit enough.....I seen it and said it early in the season.. as did most posters.you can have all the skill in the world...but if you're not fit......don't bother trotting out onto the pitch.... you'll get embarrassed.the trouble is at the moment we haven't got anybody with any skill either!!!😂🤣🤦🤦

Next season will be the real and fair test, as far as last night goes let's head back to last seasons excuses and just concentrate on the one man who cost us , and that was the ref Hopefully we'll also follow in last seasons footsteps and win the appeal Onward to Carlisle Come on town 👍

All our efforts need to be concentrated on those 2 games over Easter tho.... hopefully Oxford and Bristol will have nothing to play for..... we've got to target the Bristol away game... Because that's the only away game, we've got a chance of winning.myself I think Easter will be crucial now imho

Who are you on about ? seems like you are making stuff up there to suit your usual post town defeat club bash, , can't speak for others but I just wanted a balanced sustainable squad , not one that puts the very life of the club in danger, we are no different to even the top premier clubs who buy up loads of lower league players in hope of the odd gem only for hardly any to ever play for them , the fact we have at least 2 possible gems who even the critics praise suggest we did well in the circumstances , when did that last happen in the same season ?

The reverse fixtures earlier this season against the teams we've got coming up resulted in four points. Hopefully Carlisle will be the first result not be repeated.

On top of the wasteful loans this is hardly effective bargain hunting behaviour.

Ok,so the DOF needs to be made accountable....those 3 plus Taylor Perry, are shocking signings in my opinion......the only one to come out of this with any credit,is Mal benning....a good free transfer signings.i would leave next season's recruitment to Hurst and Doig.....so don't know what will happen to moore

Not doubting him, he's done well for us but was only signed as a third choice left wing back when Nurse got injured to cover Shipley. What are we, skint and looking for young lads to sell on, skint and signing journeymen or still paying fees and things are reasonably as they were?

It was said that any player coming in is someone the Head Coach wants? So Hurst will build his squad next year? E.g. Hurst commented on forward options during winter window that he didn't feel we're right options, even though not available anyway and felt Mata going out on loan was best option to all parties?

Imagine thinking town fans are wrong for talking about town, on a town messageboard.
Beggars belief.

The referee didn't help us last night with that early sending off, but I did say after the vale match that we didn't play particularly well against vale and only beat them due to them being terrible and probably being the worst team in the league. I also said we probably won't play a worse team. We just need to get to 50 points. I personally think the current bottom 4 will go down unless reading get put in admin or football league kick them out the division.

I think hopefully,we'll just about get to 48./49 PTS,will that be enough,I don't know... Shouldn't say this but reading could be deducted more points yet, which could help us,and tbh,we could be relying on at end of season!!!

Still think 1 more win and we wont have to worry about 3 of the 4 relegation places. None of the bottom 3 will get to 44 points. The 4th one could still get taken up by several teams, us included.

Shocking refereeing last night. I lost count of the number of yellow cards randomly brandished at anyone on the pitch for some perceived infraction....and maybe brandished at some in the stands !!!
Should never referee a match again.

Shocking refereeing last night. I lost count of the number of yellow cards randomly brandished at anyone on the pitch for some perceived infraction....and maybe brandished at some in the stands !!! Should never referee a match again. For a start, the players are told before the game not to challenge decisions and argue with officials, it’s a bookable offence. so with the Benning one for example he was remonstrating with the linesman for so long it delayed the kick off even after the Exeter goal celebrations. Benning was rightly upset he’d missed the foul but you have to play to the rules. Some players are slow learners. The jury’s still out on the Shipley sending off we’ll see how the appeal goes. Would think the Exeter fans thought he did a good job.

If the appeal is successful that means that the referee made a bad mistake after just six minutes and completely ruined the game and the evening for a lot of people. He lost control with his brandishing of yellow cards. Will there be any punishment for him. We get to know when premier refs make mistakes and are taken off future games for a period but lower league refs seem to get away with it. We shall see.

Think we might struggle in the appeal against the red (though hope I am proved wrong). Yes - it was two players going for a 50-50 ball but, from my view watching on iFollow, Shipley has misjudged where the ball was and then tried to make amends for that by jumping into the challenge. That is reckless as he then has no control over the follow -through which has caught Woods with his studs and endangered his safety. Vela was sent off a few times for us for similar challenges - if you jump into a challenge you always run the risk of a straight red if you catch the man whether the tackle is after six minutes or not.

The only time we get a decent referee is when there's an international break and we get a championship ref. Last night's ref had a shocker. I saw the Shipley/Wood challenge as 50/50, both fouls, both without any intent, both a little wreckless. Both should have been treated the same with a yellow card each. I just hope the red is rescinded but I won't hold my breath.
The fiasco continued with a foul on Benning ignored and Exeter go on to score. They got a corner awarded when their no 14 passed the ball into the box to a non existent colleague and it went harmlessly out of play. The ref gave the corner despite no Town player being within two yards of the ball. I was right behind it in Block 15, the linesman didn't give it but the ref did so the linesman then follows suit.
When bad refs lose control then players do the same. You can't condone it but it's understandable. It started with the referee last night.
