The term 'luxury' player says it all... they are the ones you can't afford to carry in a relegation battle.
If he puts in a shift sure Shipley is great. He just doesnt do it often enough, and I'm not talking about when he played wing back...
He's not the only one, but he and Baylis stand out because the difference between their best and not so good performances is greater than most.

This thread is descending into absolute nonsense.
Can somebody tell me which of our players don’t look bothered? They all seem bothered to me, and I don’t think I’ve seen any of them ever give less than 100%. We were just beaten by a better team yesterday.
Criticism of Shipley is laughable. He’s one of our best players, and has been arguably the best performer since PH returned. Suggestions of him “not putting a shift in” are remarkable. I’d say he presses more than anybody else in the team, and can be often seen berating others who aren’t pressing when they should be. And let’s not forget that he’s been playing out of position at LWB in 95% of the games that he’s played for us.
Losing football matches doesn’t necessarily mean that the players aren’t putting effort in, or that they don’t care.

He did absolutely nothing positive yesterday, in fact the one thing I remember him doing at all was standing on the ball when the ball was played into him putting him through. I am a big fan of his and I believe he suffers from the rest of the team (other than Benning and Baylis) not having the tactical brain that he has but make no mistakes, he was terrible yesterday. I do agree about effort, plenty of running around but even Hurst has questioned the players commitment after the last two games. Confidence and fitness levels are the main issues.

Are we actually going to have a serious conversation, or are we going to criticise a player who’s directly contributed to almost half our goals this season. He’d also probably have a lot more if he didn’t have so much s**t around him. Next time you’re at a game watch how the front 3 press and you’ll see that Shipley tries harder than any of the others. Or if you’re bored now, watch the Wrexham game back on YouTube and you’ll see he’s leading the press the whole time. And blasting players alongside him for not doing their jobs properly.

I wish I had stats to say what times those contributions were, im guessing the earlier in the game the more likely, he does seem to run out of batteries just after the hour mark, probably highlighted through the gps software they use hence getting subbed at some fans disgust, this isn't something that will change at this point in the season, I doubt he will be with us next year but im sure hurst would have got him fit and turned him into a great asset he he had him for next season , I guess we'll make him some sort of offer all the same

Even with Shipley and Bayliss not at their best and flitting in and out of matches, they never go hiding in games and are still the most likely players to make something happen. If it’s a choice between Shipley or O’Brien, and Bayliss or Perry, anyone who doesn’t pick Shipley and Bayliss really needs questioning.

But it's not really relevant is it? The question isn't where do Shipley & Bayliss rank in Shrewsbury Town all time players, it's should they be in the first team? Personally I'd say yes and without them we are a far weaker side, of course you may disagree with that.

Shipley scored the best goal we've seen since Bloxhams overhead kick few years back. If Nunez or Rashford scored with that leftfoot volley it would be talked about for decades.
Shipperz is class. We are lucky to have him.

Not only have I seen better players for Shrewsbury over my time watching the club, but Shipley and Bayliss frankly don't hold a candle to many other former professional footballers I can think of over my lifetime - Pele, Ray Parlour and Lev Yashin to name but three.
Pay off their contracts with immediate effect.

Pay off their contracts with immediate effect. They don't even deserve a mention to be fair. Until they can work down t'pit and walk bare footed across Pennines wi' nothing but a pack of woodbines for breakfast, and still score whilst having gout like all t'players in day could, then there is no discussion to be had
