If that Udoh goal and the build up to it had been Spurs, Neville & Co would still be yapping on about it even now.

I’ve looked at the thoughts by many on how we managed to play the way we did and won the game. Some say it’s the Hurst effect and because of a new manager players found more energy. Before this game the players had no faith in Taylor, his tactics or which positions he decided to play players. I’m surprised he didn’t try Marosi as striker. I would not call it the Hurst effect either. I would say it is a manager who has a game plan, tactics that players understood ( Taylor didn’t possess such a principle) and last but not least, playing players in their best positions. One other point is that I for one have taken the view all along that the players have talent, it’s a case of using that talent to get the best out of players and giving the players confidence to go out and perform. On Saturday all that happened and the confidence was there for all to see. Hurst did one other thing which I never thought he would do. He played an attacking brand of football with players knowing they had to defend and play tight dedending. Keep playing that formation and I think we will do well.

In short, then, "the Hurst effect"...lol

The last away game I attended was at Cheltenham on Boxing Day with my dad, and I said to him yesterday that he wouldn’t believe it’s the same team that we saw at Whaddon Road that could barely play football on that day, new manager bounces can happen but I didn’t expect it to be that quick! We were discussing new manager "bounce" on the way home from the game. We decided it wasn't "bounce" but "new manager effect". Might seem just a play on words but for me "bounce" is when players are just putting in a bit of extra effort to try to impress the new manager. Saturday there was extra effort but I felt the new manager actually having a plan the players understood and executed was the difference. Love to agree with you, but think it's hard to tell until we see a bit more evidence

How nice is this to read? "Skipper Guthrie admits Cobblers failed to match Shrewsbury 'physicality'" "skipper Jon Guthrie admitted the Cobblers were 'overran' by a fired-up Shrewsbury Town" "The Shrews, playing their first game under new boss Paul Hurst, started the match on the front foot and stayed there throughout the 90 minutes, with an out-of-sorts Cobblers barely laying a glove on them" "I thought they showed a bit more physicality and legs" "I do think we struggled to keep up with Shrewsbury" www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/football/skipper-guthrie-admits-cobblers-failed-to-match-shrewsbury-physicality-4495994
