Silver for Laura Muir in 1500m. No one near the winner, but she ran a great race

Dame Laura Kenny in the next honours list, for sure. 😊 Sir Jason Kenny too. The Kenny’s live near Goostrey where a couple of weeks ago a cyclist died in an accident in which he fell after hitting a pothole and was then hit by a following vehicle. A tragic accident, apart from the dangerous condition of the road that is. The online report in the local paper was followed by the comments section being filled with anti cyclist hatred. No doubt the same people are now basking in the reflected glory of their fellow villagers.

Two great 4x100 relays. Men’s was probably our best chance of a gold on the track, but he couldn’t quite hold on to the lead

I've been looking at the medal table and I have to say that New Zealand really punch above their weight when you look at the medals vs population.
There are a few statistical outliers like Bermuda.

im so thriled for Canada they have a tough number of games and are worthy winners, they have been in Americas shadow and have lost to them in some very close games in previous olympics and other competitions www.sportingnews.com/ca/soccer/news/canada-sweden-live-score-highlight-olympic-women-soccer-gold/nxv6gp3pokzb1etx189nu150i"it was a memorable tournament for the Canadian women, who finished undefeated (3-0-3) and put on a defensive clinic, only allowing four goals in six matches). Manager Bev Priestman, who made an impact with key tactical and personnel changes over the course of the two weeks, deserves credit for injecting belief into the squad and expertly managing the team through a grueling tournament schedule that saw them get past Brazil, USA and Sweden to win gold."

I’m so happy for them too, they deserved it after beating USA, they’re such a likeable team with an English manager. Caught the highlights on the BBC just now, did absolutely nothing of any note happen in extra time? The highlights went straight to penalties after the 90 mins. Sweden missed one to win the game only scoring 2 of their 6 penalties.

This men’s Madison is brutal. Not sure we’re getting anything I’m happy to see Morkov get the gold. He has spent most of his career working for others and was vital to Mark Cavendish winning 4 stages in the Tour de France.

The horse-punching incident reminds me that I used to know someone who punched a horse in retaliation for being kicked by it and knocked it out.

Stopped up through the night to watch the cycling and the gold from Jason Kenny well never seen anything like it just fantastic. Unfortunate for Laura with the crash in the first races of the omnium and seemed to take it out of her with a poor ride in the elimination race, but she did well in the omnium points race to win finishing 6th overall. Lauren Price has her fight for gold in half an hour but Gb have equaled the medal tally of 2012. Great performance from the class of 2020.

Lauren Price wins superb middleweight gold by beating China's Li Qian on points She was amazing and so was Yalal Yafai yesterday. Britain 6 medals in the boxing then, nobody got more! Saw the Irish girl Harrington win her gold medal too, fantastic as well. Said she will continue her job as a cleaner in a hospital when she gets back home. Kind of sad that’s it for the Olympics 😞 but at least it’s only a 3 year wait until the next one this time.

Looks like Jason Kenny fooled the opposition with his talk of not being fit and just scraping into the final. He then off while the favourites were marking each other.
Has has said that a big part of the event is racing nous and he seems to have got that right.

Disappointing to hear one of our sprinters has tested positive for drugs so look like losing relay silver medal.
Brings back the doubts about other medals, can you trust anyone in sport now ?
