I have every sympathy for the lady - the victim of "safety" speed camera vans setting up in a place it was perfectly safe to do the speeds she was doing no doubt.
When I read the story (Daily Mail), a link popped up of a lunatic driver committing a road rage incident when it was clearly them at fault - those are the drivers we should be banning.

How do you know if was safe to do those speeds? What is the purpose of speed limits then? And then you go on the believe the Daily Mail.

Always read the Tory press, see what they are up to. The very best fun is reading the Daily Express - they must be on another planet!

That's rich coming from someone who has presided while loads of Russian money rolled in to the Conservative party. Did he think they were just being very, very generous or really that desparate to play tennis with him?

No, the Russians are the goodies in the world of the kind of right wing reactionary he's courting here.

Report finds Labour spent five years 'in conflict' with itself
The Forde report, which investigated the culture of the Labour Party under the Jeremy Corbyn administration, has been published.
The report found the party has "spent substantial periods of the last five years in conflict with itself. We were not speaking to the public but arguing amongst ourselves.
"Responsibility for this rests not wholly with one side or part of our movement."
The report says: "We believe there is a clear need for individuals to see and treat each other better, regardless of their political views."
Seems like they're all in conflict!

news.sky.com/story/parts-of-labour-party-treated-antisemitism-as-factional-weapon-long-awaited-report-finds-12655103Opposition groups within the Labour Party treated antisemitism as a "factional weapon" and there was an "intellectual smugness" that dismissed the problem, a long-awaited report has found. Barrister Martin Forde QC, a former independent adviser to the Windrush compensation scheme, was looking into the "circumstances, contents and release" of a leaked internal document on the issue in 2020. That 860-page dossier found "no evidence" of antisemitism being handled differently from other complaints and blamed "factional opposition" towards former leader Jeremy Corbyn for hampering efforts to tackle the issue.

Seems that when there have been "concerns" within the party, Labour commission a report, the Conservatives clam up so as not to damage the Conservative "brand".

Incorrect, the Tories produced a report on culture in the workplace and started to work on changes to roles and workings. Let's not just put outright lies on here, it adds nothing.

It wouldn't be a lie if some of the various reports had not been released. Have they? I'll leave Northwestman to maybe furnish the whole list of hidden under the carpet reports, I didn't want to offend your sensibilities by repeating them again, but it seems you need them repeating.

Lawyers hired by Nadhim Zahawi have sent “threatening” legal letters to a blogger who accused him of lying about his tax affairs. The new chancellor has faced questions about whether he avoided tax by using an offshore company to hold valuable shares in the polling company he co-founded. Dan Neidle, a former head of tax at the law firm Clifford Chance and founder of the think-tank Tax Policy Associates, has written several blog posts scrutinising Zahawi’s tax affairs and alleging that the arrangement may have allowed him to avoid millions of pounds in capital gains tax and other taxes. Thing is if Nadhim Zahawi has avoided the tax, he's a smart operator. If he's evaded tax he's a bad boy. We'll see which side this one ends up on.

Nadhim Zahawi was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer on 5 July 2022, so all this happened before he was.
Now he is in the post he should, since he knows them, be the ideal person to close the loopholes. If he stays under the new PM, I look forward to him taking action on this.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/jul/25/met-finally-admits-not-sending-boris-johnson-questionnaires-over-partygate-gatheringsAnger over the Partygate scandal has been reignited after Scotland Yard confirmed that it did not send questionnaires to Boris Johnson before deciding against fining him for attending two Downing Street lockdown gatherings. Fines were issued to other attenders at the gatherings in 2020, including one at No 10 on 13 November, where the prime minister gave a leaving speech for his departing director of communications, Lee Cain, and another in the Cabinet Office on 17 December. Downing Street has previously briefed that Johnson did not receive police questionnaires relating to some lockdown events. But the revelation on Monday is thought to be the first time the Metropolitan police has admitted this, under details released as part of a legal challenge. The Met strikes again!

Classic Yes, Prime Minister on the subject of PMQs.
"Honesty always give you the advantage of surprise in the House of Commons".
"I know this is a difficult concept to get across to a politician. You did not tell the truth."
