Be fair now . When you’ve got more pressing matters like how to heat your riding stables and pay private members club fees , on a limited income then things like tax bills and so forth do tend to take a back seat . Anyone would think he’s a multi millionaire what with all this criticism levelled at him .

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jan/20/nadhim-zahawi-agreed-on-penalty-to-settle-tax-bill-worth-millionsThe Conservative party chair, Nadhim Zahawi, agreed to pay a penalty to HMRC as part of a seven-figure settlement over his tax affairs, the Guardian has been told. The former chancellor, who still attends the cabinet, has been subject to extensive questions in parliament and the media in recent days after it emerged he agreed to pay millions to HMRC in December after a settlement with the tax agency. The Guardian has now been told that the former chancellor paid a penalty imposed by HMRC – part of an estimated £5m tax bill. Penalties are applied if someone does not pay the correct tax at the right time. Asked repeatedly about the penalty, Zahawi’s spokesperson did not deny one had been paid. Nor did they offer any explanation or clarification about the sums involved.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/mar/17/tory-chair-health-committee-steve-brine-investigation-nhs-lobbying-claimsThe Conservative MP who chairs the Commons health and social care committee is under investigation over allegations he lobbied the NHS and ministers on behalf of a recruitment firm that employed him. Steve Brine, a former health minister, was put under investigation by parliament’s standards commissioner over “paid advocacy and declaration of an interest”. It comes after messages leaked to the Telegraph as part of its “lockdown files” investigation showed Brine had contacted the cabinet minister Michael Gove about an offer from the recruitment company Remedium to supply anaesthetists in early 2021.

Another bloody investigation by the standards commissioner . How many’s that now . How many have reached completion , that is found to have transgressed and have been censored or whatever. Is Rabb and Johnson in the queue to hear their fate . I don’t know , there are so many , or so it appears, who have been accused of failing to act appropriately despite the Patterson case showing that greedy chancers will get their comeuppance ( excuse me while I p**s me self laughing). Its a wonder there’s not anarchy in the streets . Will there ever be an end to it. What’s the latest on the Mone debacle and the countless sums wasted , never to be reclaimed from those who have robbed us blind during the pandemic. It is, without a bloody doubt a national disgrace . Levelling up monies are pitiful compared to monies given to liars and cheats who really should be in jail.

Here's some more sleaze! Hancock, Kwarteng and Brady this time. www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/mar/25/top-tory-mps-ask-for-10000-a-day-to-work-for-fake-korean-companyThe former chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, and former health secretary, Matt Hancock, agreed to work for £10,000 a day to further the interests of a fake South Korean firm after apparently being duped by the campaign group Led by Donkeys. Kwarteng attended a preliminary meeting at his parliamentary office and agreed in principle to be paid the daily rate after saying he did not require a “king’s ransom”. When Hancock was asked his daily rate, he responded: “It’s 10,000 sterling.” Sir Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 Committee, also attended an online meeting for the fake foreign firm from his parliamentary office. When asked about the limits on arranging meetings, he made clear he could not advocate on behalf of the interest but said he may be able to advise the firm on who to approach in government. He said a rate of about £6,000 a day “feels about right” and any payments would be on a public register. While they are not prohibited from such meetings and no arrangements were finalised, there is currently intense scrutiny of politicians’ outside earnings.

Too fond of themselves to question why anyome would think it worth employing failures for anything other than eating insects in Aus.

I tell you what would really finish me off completely . Imagine if Braverman’s great plans to house immigrants on disused ferries was handed over to Chris Grayling to oversee. He always wanted ferries , it would be his big chance to confirm at long last it’s his new “ start up business “. 😂😂

Marvellous stuff from our boy Matt , when will he ever learn.

Of the £17 million made by MPs from second jobs between 2019 and 2022, Tory MPs made £15.2 million.
The obsession in some quarters with David Lammy is an intentional distraction from this basic fact.

And here's another one caught out trying to fill his pockets. www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/apr/05/rishi-sunak-facing-calls-suspend-whip-scott-bentonRishi Sunak is facing calls to suspend the Conservative whip from an MP who reportedly offered to lobby ministers on behalf of the gambling industry and leak a confidential policy document for up to £4,000 a month. Scott Benton, the MP for Blackpool South, was caught by undercover reporters for the Times posing on behalf of a fake investment fund saying he could “call in favours” from colleagues and get “easy access” to ministers when queuing for parliamentary votes.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12133633/Fury-four-MPs-including-Tory-minister-claim-hundreds-pounds-driving-fines-expenses.htmlA Government minister, two Tory MPs and an SNP representative are being asked to repay hundreds of pounds in driving fines which they claimed on expenses. Amanda Solloway, a minister in the energy department who used to serve under Home Secretary Suella Braverman and who is also a Government Whip, is one of four MPs to have claimed for the fines, as detailed in the expenses register. The Derby North MP claimed back an £80 fixed penalty notice issued by Transport for London on July 2, 2020. Tory MPs Simon Hoare and Bim Afolami, as well as SNP MP Dave Doogan, also put similar claims through expenses, as reported in The Independent. Now the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is to contact those who have made the claims to ask for the money to be repaid after it admitted that it had wrongfully allowed the payments to be made. MPs are not allowed to claim for penalty charges and fines under IPSA rules. Paragraph 3.26 of the Scheme of MPs' Staffing and Business Costs clearly states that these fines are not claimable.

As the article outlines this is a bit of a none story as the parliamentary standards group which monitors these appointments the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (Acoba) has already cleared Grey The Cabinet Office is the governments own department and isn’t independent and also has no powers to intervene anyway Simon Case heads the department and got himself in rather a mess advising - or not - Boris Johnson on his conduct. ACOBA have far more weight and have cleared Sue Greys appointment. That said I think it’s a misstep by Labour to appoint her due to the party gate report - think she is a very good civil servant but there are others with less of a public face who could have done a similar job for Labour. Seems like Starmer just tweaking the noses of the Conservatives by appointing her

Seeing as the Cabinet Office didn’t even interview Sue Grey about the supposed incident, but ACOBA did is a little bit of an issue with the transparency suggestion! I had hoped Sunak might have started the get the Conservatives to try and be vaguely sensible and attack Labour on real policy issues leading up to the election (there are many to tackle them on), but it appears they have given up already and are just falling back on jibes to attack Labour with. Meanwhile the deputy Conservative Chairman Lee Anderson seems to have formed a group called the New Conservatives, and are publishing their own immigration policies today.

The Sue Gray Report was (like the Met's investigations) a bit of a damp squib.
Neither investigated the 'Abba' Party.
