Job done for me and shows the advantages of having an experienced coaching staff. Really ugly win, but a clean sheet and two goals will be all that is remembered.
I don't want to be too critical after a win but I'd love to know exactly what in training made the previous management team decide to hand Burgoyne a two year contract. He just looks completely out of his depth which is a shame because we all want local lads to succeed here.
Let's just get over the line now though and clean the house in the summer when we will hopefully see what a squad under SC can actually do. Apart from Whalley and potentially Goss, I cant see anyone else out of contract here staying beyond June.

I would not give up on Burgoyne just yet. He has the physical attributes to be a decent keeper and just needs to develop the mentality and improve his decision making. If he is to stand in for Sarkic soon tonight while not perfect could be a turning point for him.

A very interesting case, the patient feels that people are hounding him. In the later stages the patient may even submit information and then deny it was submitted by them. The patient should be isolated and anything they claim should be disregarded. There is no cure. the cure is simple No, don't do it! You are valued, honest.

And don’t forget, as I previously revealed, the Swan files show he only had three minors on his driving test. You don’t get that outcome without a cool head under pressure.

Credit to the players and management team, they really are doing SC proud and that can only help his personal battle with the virus.
This could so easily have faltered in his absence but it didn't.
I hope they go on to show the last few games were just a blip, that 2nd half could prove to be huge.
17th but with 3 games in hand and maybe now re-energised and confidence settled. Awesome.

On the balance of play I am amazed we won that game and came away with a clean sheet, despite our keepers attempts to help Dale along I am seriously concerned if Mr Sarcic is going to be missing in the coming weeks. We need a keeper ASAP Much better second half performance and well done to young Josh Daniels Clean sheet, 3 points what more do you want? An assist or maybe a goal, he tried, at least two of his kick outs went straight through for their keeper to save (collect) Harry MoM 👍

Great win for the Salop. Hopefully the 'blip' is over.

You dont think the attacker jumping into the keeper and preventing him from collecting the ball whilst being nowhere near the ball is a foul? Eastern branch of the goalkeepers union! Southern branch of the Burgoyne out brigade!

Can't really complain too much about Burton, first game back in and he kept a really important clean sheet. At least give him a chance to settle back in.

I know some fans are still a bit deluded to think we could snatch a play off place but top half would be an incredible achievement right now.
The stats for SC and AW do make you think 'what might of been'. Our points return from them since coming in is 1.77 a game, that over 31 would see us on 52 now which would sit us in 6th.
Only 7 teams have conceded less goals but only 4 have scored less. It wouldn't take genius to see where we must strengthen in the summer.

I’d be quite happy if we stayed at boring old 17th for the rest of the season!

I’d be quite happy if we stayed at boring old 17th for the rest of the season! And I'd be quite happy if I no longer felt drawn to check on the fixtures and results of the bottom 7 every week worrying about them catching us up. The sooner we get to 50 points plus the better. Hasselbaink has worked wonders with Burton and it now looks like they'll escape. I reckon Barton will pull Bristol Rovers clear. Wigan are currently on a good run, and potentially under new ownership. So the results of Northampton, Swindon, AFC Wimbledon and Rochdale are of particular interest.

It is probably deluded to talk of a play off place, but it's so good to feel you can look upwards instead of fearing downwards.
With the potential for crowds, this years play offs may be quite lucrative affairs too, for whoever gets there.

SC has a very difficult decision to make for Saturday.
Retain Burgoyne on the basis that he kept a clean sheet, might now have a little more confidence, and won't make as many mistakes.
Or return him to the bench after only 1 outing, knowing he'll have to rely on him again when Sarkic is on International Duty, and that by being dropped (again) he won't necessarily be feeling too positive when he next appears for us.

When last season was terminated early we had 41 points from 34 games, we currently have 41 points from 31 games. Top half has to be the optimistic target now safe in the knowledge that the main aim from Cotterill’s appointment, to avoid relegation will almost certainly be achieved.

Regarding Burgoyne, I've seen lots of criticism for him, what did he do wrong? All I've seen is a clip where he came out but the player it past him, could say he misjudged it but it's not up there in the major howler category for me. Anything else?

a number of teams below are starting to improve wigan and burton but just above us MKDons have only got one point out of the last five games, what concerns me is the last four games have been well below the standerd we started to expect and i was expecting 9 point out of a possible 12 and we picked up 4 . how much this is due to the injury of norburn, pierre and not fully fit sarkic has it is difficulkt to know, not starting with chapman made no sense unless he was been rested. burgoyne does fill me with confidence but we are stuck with him for the next few games(i would be very happy to be proved wrong) very pleased that daniels scored that will be a boost for his confidence as he really has been a fring players, velas goal showed a lot of composuer. let us hope we can build on the win and be more consistent.

I caught Rob Green (ex England keeper) on Sky TV a couple of nights ago talking about goalkeeping, after the W. Ham v Leeds game. Extremely enlightening and, although not the best England keeper ever, it was very interesting listening to him explaining 'all things goalkeeping' to the other guys, and the presenters really seemed to appreciate his excellent input regarding goalies. I'm dead sure a few sessions with someone like Green would benefit Harry Burgoyne immensely.

Dropped the ball early on which resulted in a goalmouth scramble where anything could have happened. Came out for a ball against a Rochdale forward, missed it, and it was cleared off the line. Opinions are divided on here as to whether he was fouled.

Anything else? a few minutes earlier he dropped a catch and it should have resulted in a goal, that incident you mention seems to be his trait, many times this season he has come outside the box literally nowhere near the ball, and the clip I uploaded after the game, he should be making those if he comes for them I've given him motm in games this season but in todays game you need a keeper who is 100% on the ball for 90 mins, every game we are in a position now where we can stumble over the line if necessary so not the biggest issue we have any more
