Tomorrow’s incomers are looking very much like a statement of intent with Bennett, possibly Grigg and Tymon all on the list - exciting second half to the season lies ahead

Tomorrow’s incomers are looking very much like a statement of intent with Bennett, possibly Grigg and Tymon all on the list - exciting second half to the season lies ahead We've played 9 league games under Steve Cotterill and taken 18 points so we are currently dead on the fabled "2 points a game" average. We've 24 league games left; keep up that average and we'll land at 75 points come end of the season. Admittedly, that's a tall order but.... 4 wins out of 4 against the top 4, bounced back from several weeks off with most of the squad sick from covid 19 with a great performance. Not unreasonable to think we might have a shot at keeping up the pace if we strengthen the squad. Is that what this is? A run at the playoffs? Certainly hope so and either way lots of applause due for the ambition shown by the club and such a rapid turnaround in the atmosphere about the place. Edit; personal view, I question if we'll have enough firepower up front even if Grigg joins (hasn't set this division alight the last 2 seasons, no reason to suspect he will now though I'd love to be wrong). Chapman's performance was an eye opener yesterday though; maybe him and Grigg will have the right combination.

If we’d made the change after the Burton game, when, let’s be honest, the writing was well and truly on the wall, the league table might look a lot different now....

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get six or seven thousand Town fans in the stadium to really get behind them and get the place bouncing?

Chapman's performance was an eye opener yesterday though; maybe him and Grigg will have the right combination.v Ever since we got those results vs Hull, Lincoln and Doncaster, the fabled play-off route was always something I’d thought about with my blue & amber tinted glasses on...but there’s always that hope if our form continues and we strengthen well. We really should’ve came away from Sunderland with a least a point. Remember Barnsley a few seasons ago going from relegation fodder to play-offs...so always a chance. Oxford are fly8ng as well, whereas a couple of sides that were well above us are in free fall (especially Fleetwood) 17th with games in hand...the next few weeks, with I think 4 home games in the next 5? will be crucial to see where we are in this league. Remain injury free, keep the form going and who knows? And I’m always a believer that teams who hit the play-offs on a run of form do well...just a shame we currently can’t get a full Meadow to get the place bouncing.

Oxford are apparently interested in Grigg, who would have played under Karl Robinson at MK Dons.

Looks like Grigg will be off somewhere tomorrow then. Wonder who?

More than likely the one who offers the most money unfortunately.

Wonder how much that scarf weighs. because that bloke is going to have a big weight of expectation on his shoulders.
He does seem to have the look of a frightened rabbit in his crumpled shirt.
He'll be hoping opposing goalkeepers don't do any great annual saving.

Interesting because the report in the Star seems to state that the deal was agreed pending Sunderland getting a replacement. It would seem that there is no honour in Sunderland. Mind you if he goes to MK there’s none there either so he will feel at home.
Either that or the mighty Sunderland don’t consider MK as rivals!!

That’s a shame too but there will be others and if not we will plough on together with our Manager until the summer.

"Will wants to play every game, he wants to be closer to his family who are in Stafford, and we are probably going to have to accommodate that on this occasion if we get that extra man in."
Shrewsbury could be one of the busiest League One teams today, as they look to add three or four players to their ranks before the window shuts, similar to Oxford.
Sunderland Echo.
MK Dons aren't exactly close to Stafford, but hey, a few extra quid in Grigg's pay packet might cause him to have a change of heart.

I don't want him anyway, barely scored in the last 3-4 years. We move in, intrigued to see who we add to the squad.
I've a feeling he might make do with Love/Sears until the end of the season.

With Salop looking to off load another striker, which can only be Charlie Caton or Leon Clarke. the latter to free up wages. Surely if this is the case don't we need 2 strikers in? Maybe that's the really reason Clarke was not in the squad Saturday
