Sunderland have had a bid rejected for Ross Couny Striker Ross Stewart. I'm beginning to think the Grigg signing is looking more and more like a no goer. Personally, i think we should move on and look elsewhere because I'm worried with Cummings going that if we aren't careful we are going to end up a little light up front. Sunderland signed Rangers striker Jordan Jones on loan, around 7pm yesterday evening. Will that change the Grigg situation?

I remember him well from his Kilmarnock days and he was an out and out winger there. Perhaps Rangers have converted him to a Striker.

My take on it is that Sunderland are playing games and are looking for a club that will contribute more than what we are offering in terms of his wages, gut feeling is we are not willing to offer enough and they want more to offset the loan I would agree with that, Sunderland will definitely try to offset as much of his wages as they can. I do hope we don't break the bank to get him, certainly in the current climate when there must be lots of other options about. Let's not forget, he picked up a knee injury in December, and has hardly played anyway. If he did come, you have to wonder how long it would take him to get up to full match fitness.

This looks so much like the start of another Shrewsbury Town incoming striker disaster. But we have to trust our management team.

There will be a limit to how much a club will/can pay towards his salary due to the Salary Cap. I can'tsee him making a perm move from Sunderland to another L1 until end of his current contract as I'm sure it will lead to a big pay cut. He'll be hoping they get promoted before that happens!!

He could be still there then at "The last Trump"!

Interesting that Gregg is not in the match day squad for Sunderland against Gillingham, announcement later hopefully?

I think it shows that Grigg is going somewhere.....hopefully SY2.
I’d be surprised if it was announced today given the match coverage and focus on today possibly tomm or as I expect Monday day/afternoon.....to either us or Oxford. Now that Cummings is gone I do think it would be rather gut wrenching if we missed out on him now.

It’s never taken a genius to work out we don’t score enough, we’ve seen how good our back three are against top opposition like Southampton in recent weeks, get two quality forwards in and Top 10 is def a big shout.

Not convinced about Grigg either tbh .... odds are he will tank like most other strikers we get in who is higher profile!!

The next 48 hours are going to be very interesting, can see more out and certainly at least a couple in - Bowman and Griggs would be a statement (Bowman is out of contract in the summer & Exeter’s financial state is dire)

Mr Chapman reckons he's over the ankle ligament problem then?

In regards our club captain: What a thoroughly lovely man. The sort of person you wished your daughter brought home. Seems to spend his free time organising Rashford-style charity and spurring along academy players. A midfielder/right winger/right back (this last one only in absolute emergency), he's another guy who fits League 1 well but is simply not up to anything more than utility sub for a top-half Championship team. He's just got over a long injury. Rovers fans would dread him actually playing for us ever again but would undoubtedly wish him well with deep, deep love wherever he goes. If you want a star to see you promoted, no. If you want a senior pro to give 110% and inspire players and fans alike, get him signed!

I think with a play maker like chapman in the team, a poacher like grigg (maybe even Cummings!) would score goals, there’s gonna be openings, rebounds off the keeper ect, and a lot more chances. Looks like Bennet is a done deal, what does that mean for Walker and Goss? I get the impression bennet would be brought in as back up to Norburn/vela, Has Love been back in the squad to put him in the shop window?

I understand Elliot Bennett played at RWB for SC at Bristol City. He was very quick when he was younger, he may have lost a yard or so but reckon he’ll have plenty of pace at this level.

Maybe permanent in the summer but a loan move more imminent

Maybe permanent in the summer but a loan move more imminent Lewis Cox at the Shropshire Star seems very confident the loan deal will be done before the deadline closes, and he’s usually correct 👍🏻
