Fourth official in the PSG game could be in trouble, both teams alleging the fourth official directed the "N word" at Demba Ba.

In all my years on B&A that is the closest I have ever come to seeing you admit that you might be wrong. There may be hope for you yet.
Just because you don't know anyone that has been a slave doesn't mean that slavery doesn't exist, just as not knowing anyone that has experienced racism doesn't mean that racism doesn't exist.
Look outside of your own bubble occasionally.
I work in events, and most weekends up until this pandemic, I am in the thick of events where there are normally at least 50000 people at, and would say, and again I could be wrong, but I interact with many different people, of all races and creeds, and observe most of them. Perhaps, and just a guess here, is my bubble could be bigger than you realise. And no doubt you have conversations about racism with every single one of them.
Christ on a bike even I have seen racism in my daily life, so how come you with such a huge feckin' bubble have never even glimpsed it? Perhaps you think if you don't see it it doesn't exist or more likely you do see it, but are too self absorbed to recognise it.
I was obviously wrong about there being hope for you.

Where In the hell have I said I have never witnessed it or seen it, I have said before that it is there, but not as widespread as people are making it out to be, yes 1 incident is 1 to many, but as a nation we are extremely tolerant and diverse. I have seen so called knuckle dragging West Ham lads calling people out on it.... god, I give up...

Fourth official in the PSG game could be in trouble, both teams alleging the fourth official directed the "N word" at Demba Ba. Although now it seems he said "book the black guy". Watching a video of the incident, the official uses the term ‘Negro’ when referring to which player to send off. He’s from Romania and claims it’s due to the language barrier. Demba Ba looked distressed.

I have seen so called knuckle dragging West Ham lads calling people out on it.... god, I give up... I have called out the EBF on the away terrace at Crewe in the '90s, while everyone else stood by and let them get away with racially abusing their goalkeeper.
Do you want a medal?
There is no god, but if there is I hope he grants your wish and you do give up

It's a classic case of people being offended for other people. BLM is a bunch of far left white cranks, half of the BAME community dismiss them as divisive. I love the zero hours debate as well, plenty of people earning decent wages getting offended for those on zero hours when in fact plenty enjoy the flexibility zero hours bring. Could you point to your data sources for these two interesting claims?

Black in Romanian is negru. The officials for the game there tonight are Romanian. So the 4th official might well have used that term to indicate to the ref who should be booked. That member of staff then asking whether he would have indicated the "white guy" if it had been a white player/member off staff to be booked. Whether players are aware that negru is black in Romanian, no idea. Why an official at a game would indicate someone like that, no idea. But I guess we have to remember this is a European League; different languages, difficult cultures. Players still of the pitch.
Pictures showing the PSG staff packing things up. Looks like the game will be postponed. I guess we now wait and see what the result of all this will be...

Hmm all the 4th official had to do was apologise and explain. His body language wasn’t great and definitely didn’t do himself any favours.

Sounds like a distinct lack of diversity training and pre-match briefing.

Hmm all the 4th official had to do was apologise and explain. His body language wasn’t great and definitely didn’t do himself any favours. From the footage I saw I don't think he was given the chance. And whether they have tried to do so since I'm not sure. And whether the players and staff would be willing to accept that explanation is another mater. Two things I guess...
Why an official would look to point someone out using someone's skin colour, I don't know. Whether the players who heard the 4th official thought he was using racist language when he wasn't, I don't know.
As usual an awful lot of people on social media jumping to conclusions. I think it would be best to wait and see.

I have called out the EBF on the away terrace at Crewe in the '90s No you didn't. OK. Obviously you know my history far better than I do. FWIW it was the only time in my footballing life that I was actually concerned for my health. The thought of getting my head kicked in by, supposed fellow Town supporters didn't sit well.
Anyway, thanks for your considered view, you can now crawl back under your rock and let the grown ups carry on the discussion.

Just out of interest, is there anyone on this board who has been subject to racism? Not personally, but I have been with friends who have been and I was called a N lover. I was also asked why and how I could have a friend of Pakistani heritage. Though they didn't frame it like that. I got talking to a couple of Asian lads in a pub in Wolverhampton and got called a traitor in the bog. Bit awkward with your John Thomas hanging out and wondering if you're going to have to defend yourself.... All these in the last 5/6 years and obviously extreme. But, sometimes racism is subtle.

No. It wasn't a player decked out in kit, it was a member of the staff on the away teams bench. He was wearing a jacket, mask, hat. I would think the officials would have problems identifying most of the players without names and numbers, I doubt they'll know who makes up the Basaksehir backroom staff. Although he may have been a sub who was keeping himself warm, not sure. But he wasn't able to point him out using a name and number.

I my Nigerian colleague to a pub to experience British hospitality, an insensitive move on my part as I hadn’t realised he was Moslem and wasn’t comfortable in the environment. He was even less comfortable when someone asked me why my monkey was wearing a suit.

Just out of interest, is there anyone on this board who has been subject to racism? I suppose it's more so xenophobia we've experienced. We did have a neighbor for a good while who wasn't shy about coming out and shouting at us for being ausländers, Engländer. That was also aimed at the kids too (even when it was just the kids) so that wasn't nice at all. That scared them as they were quite young. No idea what's happened to her but she's no longer living here and she's not missed. Been kicked up the arse by some Turkish lads the once as soon as they knew we were English but that was a long time ago now (when we used to go out). From what I recall that's about it in 20 years of living here in Stuttgart (which is a very international city, which I think helps).

Auslander - Ja, ich kann ein wenig Deutsch sprechen🤣🤣🤣.... such Franzoisch! Where the hell are the umlauts when you need one🤣🤣🤣. The girl I wanted to marry, many years ago, was forbidden to marry me by her parents, because I was white?.... The fact that she wanted to marry me made no difference!

Such is Life, I still think about her 40 years on, but as for "taking offence" or even possibly luxuriating in victimhood and self-righteousness, I will leave to others who are far more expert!

I tend to steer well clear of such brainless morons, but it would be difficult to do in a social gathering without the benefit of mind-reading! I have been the direct recipient of racism which changed my life plans, but I moved on!

A chilling reminder on how far this go the other way...
My 15 year old daughter said a few nights ago that "you cant be racist to white people", my usual evening mild mannered demeanor a hit, i was furious but I suppose if they get drip fed BLM constantly then they may think it's only ever one way.
