I've been critical of Roland's appointments but credit where it's due here, 3 & 1/2 year shows ambition, it's a great appointment.

The speed of this appointment does suggest we'd had him already lined up for the post.

Fits in with the rumours Pilch and I have been hearing for weeks that we wouldn't get an experienced, big name in to replace Ricketts.

Welcome Steve, really pleased with this, someone with a wealth of experience at this level, and at 3.5 years you've got to say well done to the board here.

- Get the squad fit - Get the squad believing - Sign a keeper - Sign Miller - Extend Pugh, Daniels & Whalley

I'm a bit ambivalent about this.
He's been around a lot. Most of his success was nearly 20 years ago; apart from that one season with Bristol City. The title win with Notts County - he was only manager for about 10 games after Svenn put the side together. Kasper Schmeichel in goal and Lee Hughes banging them in probably had more to do with that.
Would have preferred Paul Hurst back, myself - but Brian obviously still not the forgiving type!
Happier with this than the Askey and Ricketts appointments though, so that's to the good. Hopefully it works out.

Following the sacking of Ricketts I speculated that the club would either cut costs or double down on ambition. Looks like the latter, and I'm pleased.
We've got a decent squad here, just need an experienced head to pull it all together. Wonder if this also gives an indication that the club are feeling confident about the upcoming financial settlement (if it ever gets sorted out?)

There always one who was never going to be pleased.
Can we all just get behind the bloke for now and see it as a new dawn rather than yet another opportunity to hark back to the recent past.

His record in leagues 1 and 2 is pretty good whichever way you look at it to be honest.

- Get the squad fit - Get the squad believing - Sign a keeper - Sign Miller - Extend Pugh, Daniels & Whalley I find it hard to disagree with any of that. I would say though, the I believe that Sarkic is a decent keeper, when fit.

Quote from player at Bristol City.. Aaron Wilbraham
“He came in on the first day of pre-season and said he wanted to win the league and you could see he wasn’t just saying it. I know a lot of managers probably say that to the team on the first day back, but you could see he really meant it.
“He set out from the start of the season the way he wanted us to play and he makes sure everyone knows their jobs. Every week, no matter who we are playing, the attention to detail on the other team and the way he prepares us has been unbelievable.
You go into every game confident you already know what the other team is going to try and do against you. That has been the key. He has had us really organised, made us play football, made us feel confident on the ball, and it has been a really successful season
Sounds like something I want to hear!!
