my issue is the anti gov mob don't listen to the daily conference for advice, they listen to it and then play a game to find something wrong with what they said, if they can't find anything they either make something up or dig up old news, a bit like the town fans who seem to enjoy a defeat more than a victory I'm not playing any games. I've listened to nearly all the government Daily Briefings. This government has been an utter disgrace, and hopefully my posts together with others on here confirm that. There will be quite a few who remain silent, but I won’t, I find you to be sad in your daily copy and paste adventure, sad because there is no end game, probably some perverse enjoyment on your behalf, but it’s boring, and repetitive, but if you have nothing better to do with your life, that’s even sadder.....

Yet another superb performance by Matt Hancock this afternoon . Hancock and Dido , a marriage made in heaven . Who needs Johnson when you can see these two performing . Just the thought keeps me warm in bed at night , which is very useful cos it probably won’t be until the Winter months that we get the App up and working . Doubles all round as they say .

Keep it up Northwestman. If and when you regularly copy and paste inaccuracies, lies or subterfuge then I will follow Downies advice. Until that time I shall continue to ignore him. As most on here do.

because its totally anti government, contains false statements. ( we all complied with lockdown for example, thousands didnt ), you MUST work from home ? they said work from home IF you CAN, and you are speaking for people throughout the world without a clue what they are thinking, in fact if they think UK is such a joke, why do people from all around the world keep risking their lives on a daily basis to flock here ? my issue is the anti gov mob don't listen to the daily conference for advice, they listen to it and then play a game to find something wrong with what they said, if they can't find anything they either make something up or dig up old news, a bit like the town fans who seem to enjoy a defeat more than a victory The vast majority did comply I wrote "You must work from home if you can" I said the British government will be a laughing stock, not we are. The UK is a wonderful place and parts of it are getting fighting the virus more right than others. Get your facts straight. The trouble is some people read things and just see what they want to see. Have an open and questioning mind.

I was on about working form home, did they say you 'must' work for home, or just work for home if you can ? "travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home". was one of the limited exceptions. You must work from home if you can seems a reasonable summing up of that speech?

"travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home". was one of the limited exceptions. You must work from home if you can seems a reasonable summing up of that speech? "Must" is absolutely the right word. The legislation specifies: 'During the emergency period, no person may leave the place where they are living without reasonable excuse. ……... a reasonable excuse includes the need ……... to travel for the purposes of work or to provide voluntary or charitable services, where it is not reasonably possible for that person to work, or to provide those services, from the place where they are living'
I've cut and pasted that from the legislation (so some people may be agitated by that ![8-)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/innocent/innocent0009.gif) ) but the written law trumps anything uttered in a speech or press briefing, unless Dominic Cummings says otherwise, of course.

No offence, but I'm genuinely stunned at the lengths some will go to to defend the government. Yes there are times when people are looking for a stick to bash them with, but this is literally a very costly mistake. There just aren't any excuses for this, other european countries were using the google version of the App from March onwards with success. Why not just follow a pattern that works? Ah yes, because this government are incompetent, no longer an opinion it's a fact. 12 million quid flushed down the toilet because they wanted to create their own app instead of using a working european model, probably to play up to their new independent go it alone - we don't need any expert help government mantra.
Absolute charlatans.

Absolute charlatans. Look no further than Cummings and his mates Ben and Marc Warner for the explanation as to why the government went down this particular road re the development of the app. Faculty's Chief Executive, Marc Warner, is the brother of Ben Warner, who has attended SAGE meetings together with Cummings. Indeed, Marc Warner himself was allowed to attend one such meeting. www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/04/vote-leave-ai-firm-wins-seven-government-contracts-in-18-monthsbylinetimes.com/2020/05/06/whitehall-analytica-vote-leave-firm-tied-to-cambridge-analytica-will-configure-nhsx-contact-tracing-app/

What exactly are the positive stories?! we had news the other day of a cheap drug, readily available all over the world will save 1000s of lives hardly groundbreaking apparently You are confusing criticism of the British government with criticism of the UK. It wasn't Boris Johnson that developed the life saving new use for the drug. It's the government that is failing us. Other areas of the UK seem to be handling things better in the things they can control. The people of the UK will beat this virus despite Boris' government, not because of them.

Downie moaning about dull posts is like Ian Dunbavin moaning about goalkeeping errors. Years of defending the indefensible..... To think his hero’s catch phrase "To those waiting with bated breath for that favourite media catchphrase, the U-turn, I have only one thing to say. You turn if you want to. The lady's not for turning." Bit different with Boris now almost everything he says or does you know the U turn is coming 😩

Absolute charlatans. Completely agree - it is unfathomable that some believe the government should not be criticized for what has been a complete shambles. We have the highest death rate in the world ! Keeping saying that we are being the only honest ones in counting the numbers is laughable when you look at the constant stream of bulls**t and lies pumped out by the government. Look at the PPE numbers counting single gloves and dodgy shipments, the testing kit numbers debacle where tests does not equal tests, the world beating app at the heart of test and trace which has failed, commercial considerations and the herd immunity argument delaying lockdown, the Cummings fiasco, following the science (but not) to release lockdown, face masks do not protect you (but yes they help stop the spread), hospital patients sent to care homes with COVID, UK-wide measures based on London stats, etc. etc. Next we will be hearing that Marcus Rashford was actually christened Daniel but he and his mum weren't told.
