Only if it’s allowed to be I’m afraid. Agree, it’s one reason I have no confidence in the “don’t criticise now, let’s pull together and have the enquiry another day” bull shat👍 It’ll all be buried away and bit by bit history will be rewritten.

from RCN update how usless can this goverment be as they still have issues of PPE, "Last night, our Chief Executive & General Secretary Donna made another appearance on BBC’s Question Time. She raised concerns about ongoing personal protective equipment supply problems - especially in care homes and for district nurses - and gave her own views on discrimination in the health sector." www.theguardian.com/society/2020/may/30/shortage-of-ppe-may-force-reopened-dentists-to-limit-treatments"Eddie Crouch, vice-chair of British Dental Association executive committee, said dentists would need professionally fitted respirator masks to safely deliver routine procedures such as drilling and filling teeth because they generate millions of potentially infectious microscopic droplets. “Many practices will struggle to get the PPE they need to reopen fully,” he said. “It is unrealistic to think it is going to be business as usual in a few weeks’ time.” "Woodhouse, who is getting 30 emergency calls a day is struggling to source enough PPE to allow his practice to fully reopen,He said he had donated most of his equipment to the NHS in the early weeks of the crisis. “Dentists are not even at the back of the queue for personal protective equipment – we’re not in the queue,” he said." the goverment give a date for dentists to reopen but dont sort out the PPE before doing it yet more shambolic handling by our usless goverment.

Not defending the Government but why is PPE in Care Homes a Government issue? Most Care Homes are private companies and cost an extortionate amount so why don't they have the correct equipment?

Supply chain issues Martin. Wasn’t about cost. Was about access. And the government disrupted the market entirely for the benefit of the NHS and all parts of it.
Although the care home market is that financially insecure, many providers had to be paid in advance to stop going broke at the absolute peak of all of this.
Anyone who says that central government ‘threw a protective ring’ around care homes shouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

Just a guess but maybe because the NHS / Government has dumped 100s of infected elderly patients in care homes to free up hospital beds causing 1000’s of deaths and creating a nationwide catastrophe. Also prioritised PPE supplies directed to the unprepared NHS creating a nationwide shortage for everyone else including care homes.

An interesting story on twitter from the Financial Times www.ft.com/content/43bb10de-645a-43a4-bb7e-ac3978ec445dNot sure link will work but a review has been requested of how a company with assets of £19k was awarded a government contract worth £108 million to supply ppe. Oh and it’s actually a pest control company.

Oh and it’s actually a pest control company. in sharp contrat if you wont to put in a bid for any NHS contracts you have to supply three years of finanical records, make a decleration of your business credentials, have references and prove you have liquidity and supply a buisness plan. i only know this as i has a friend who went through all these hoops so i find this staggering that a company with such little liquidity could win this contract .

Oh and it’s actually a pest control company. It really is staggering how so many contracts are getting awarded out to private companies suddenly during the past few months without any proper bidding process or scrutiny. Some of which could be for the long term

To follow up my post that started this thread, the 3 doctors I wrote about all plan to resign from the NHS.
