It's not nonsense, when you consider it went from a conventional war into an insurgency pretty quickly. Different kit, different war-fighting. Oh I see. So we went to a conventional war in the desert in green kit designed for use in Northern Europe, despite having at least 2 months notice of what was coming ? Brilliant. There was plenty of dessert dress in GW2. There were other problems with kit. That time to rectify.

A uni friend of my daughter who gained a Masters degree in 19th century Irish literature joined the Civil Service fast track scheme, his first job was as a procurement manager in th NHS. I had been in purchasing for over 30 years but had 10 years experience and had to pass professional exams before being considered for a management post, so I was appalled when hearing about this. Sales people are highly trained and will easily run rings around novice buyers and logistics needs serious planning, experience and training. No wonder things haven’t gone smoothly.

Didn’t the army go to war in a desert wearing green uniforms once? Never mind the 'kin green uniforms Matron . I'd like to know who was responsible for sending one of our very own heroes of B & A out into his garden just last week to do battle with an obnoxious neighbour wearing just a pair of MT underpants and pair of worn out slippers received as an unwanted Xmas gift in 1976 😉

from the mail "A coronavirus patient's 'terrifying' hospital experience inspired a doctor to create a new flashcard system to improve communication with medical staff wearing face masks.
Anaesthetist Rachael Grimaldi founded Cardmedic while on maternity leave after reading about a Covid-19 patient who was unable to understand healthcare workers through their personal protective equipment (PPE).
Her system enables medical staff to ask critically ill or deaf coronavirus patients important questions and share vital information on pre-written digital flashcards displayed on a phone, tablet or computer."
a simple but very effective idea well done

part of my RCN breifing; "I continue to demand clarity from the prime minister on death in service benefits and financial support for families of nursing staff who have died due to COVID-19. We want benefits to be retrospective, from the start of the pandemic, and to apply to all health and care staff, regardless of their length of service or the setting in which they worked." Donna Kinnair RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/sites/default/files/2018-05/Survivors%20Guide%20%28V8%29%2005.2018.pdfto say this is complicated is an understament; the last thing bereaved familys need is more stress so the goverment have responded with this payment from the mail "Today, I am able to announce that the Government is setting up a life assurance scheme for NHS and social care frontline colleagues. 'Families of staff who die from coronavirus in the course of their essential frontline work will receive a £60,000 payment."

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-52452592"Cleaning the vehicles by hand can take 45 minutes and is potentially dangerous to workers. Now Swansea University researchers have developed a new system which could cut that to less than 20 minutes.Chedly Tizaoui said the technology could be used to decontaminate hospitals and schools. The new system, using rapid release gases to penetrate all areas of the vehicle, has been developed by researchers from the university's College of Engineering."

assaults on public servic staff now carry a maximum one year prison sentance but courts seem very reluctant to send them to prision. during a lockdown you could argue that keeping people out of prison is best but then can they deffer a sentance till hte pandemic is over.
"Sussex Police Federation Chairman Matt Webb (pictured below) spoke after the conviction of Trevor Dangerfield in Hastings. Dangerfield had coughed in the face of an officer then said he “wanted to infect the officer and his family”.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court the 39-year-old, of Singleton Walk, Bexhill, was given a 16-week suspended sentence for assaulting a police officer.
“When they are attacked in this way for simply doing their job, and are not supported by the judicial system, it is a disgrace. “What sort of message does this send to people like Dangerfield who make police officers fear for the fact that they may be infected with this virus, which has killed thousands of people in this country alone?

If true, that NHS procurement official may have just found the key to being the most hated person in Britain. The Guardian in murky waters too "Posing as an agent for a meat processing factory" - would have thought anyone connected to or reading the Guardian would not want to be associated with a meat processing factory. If Boris is too busy, put Sunik on the case, he's been pretty free with the purse strings. Don't know who it would be for Northern Ireland, but Scotland have already given care workers a three per cent increase. Wales now asking for the £500 to be tax free and non benefit affecting. Wonder who is eligible? For example, how about those looking after children in care?

from the mail "The British Medical Association has conducted a survey on frontline NHS staff Revealed just under two thirds said they felt only partly protected by their PPE Overall, 48 per cent of doctors even reported having bought PPE for themselves"
"It said almost a third (30 per cent) of doctors in England who were questioned said they had not reported or spoken out about issues relating to PPE, staff shortages, testing or drug shortages because they did not think anything would be done about it if they did."

RCN update;
"Today we’ve released the findings of our survey on COVID-19 testing. It shows an alarming discrepancy in access to testing between those of you working in the NHS, and those working for other employers.
More staff working in the NHS had been offered testing than those working for other employers: 50% of staff working in care homes and prisons and 60% of temporary staff didn’t know how to access testing. This is unacceptable, and we will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the additional measures recently put in place to improve access to testing are effective. Governments around the UK must prioritise all health and care staff – not just those working in the NHS – to ensure they have everything they need to carry out their work confidently and safely."

The Dyson CoVent ventillators, housed in a JCB steel case will not now be needed by the NHS, but they may be exported somewhere. link

Matron has looked after my Mother, and will never forget the dignity and compassion he shown throughout the time there, to be honest, I don’t even think it was a special act due to being friends, he’s just a jolly decent chap and shows the same to all..... cross dressing puff!!!!
